What are the current choices for "a la carte" Special Order bags?

What is an Hermes Special Order?
Each year Hermes gives select clients the opportunity to customize a classic bag in a made-to-order a la carte process. This thread is only for bag A La Carte orders (please use the separate threads for watch SOs and shoe SOs). "A la carte", "SO" (special order), and "HSS" (horse shoe stamp) are used interchangeably on this forum.

When is the Special Order season?
Currently, there is one SO season each calendar year, opening around the middle of February and closing when slots run out or the end of December, whichever occurs first. New SO menus are typically leaked in February and remain constant until the following calendar year. Individual stores have complete discretion on when, within this window, they offer SO appointments to their clients.

Which specs can I customize?
Hermes defines which specs can be customized and these specs can change each SO season. Generally these specs include: leather type, leather color, and hardware color. At your SO appointment, your SA will present you will the limited menu of choices including bag types and sizes (Birkin 25, Kelly 28, etc), pre-set combination designs (line, verso, multico, etc), leather choices, leather colors, hardwares, and a map for which options can be selected for which bag type and size. Not all leathers and hardwares are allowed for all bag types and sizes.

Can I make physical changes to a bag definition during SO?
Sometimes clients would like to change a physical aspect of a bag, like increase the handle drop or add a pocket or a strap. Unfortunately, Hermes does not allow any type of alteration to the bag definition during SO. For extensive changes like these, a client would need to pursue a “Horizon order” which can be read about here.

How long will my SO take?
There is no way to predict how long a SO will take from placing the order to receipt of the finished product. Although Hermes has recently put forward efforts to fulfill a la carte orders within a year, it isn’t uncommon for bags to arrive in just a few months or also much longer than the year estimate.

Can my SA give me status my existing SO?
Unfortunately, the info that can be seen by SAs at the local store is very limited. They can generally see if the order is still outstanding (ie hasn’t been cancelled) but do not get status updates beyond that. Some stores will update clients when they get notice that a bag has been shipped from Paris but other stores wait until the bag is physically in store before alerting the client.

Do I need to place a deposit for SO?
In most regions of the world, a deposit is not required for SOs. However, some Asian and Middle Eastern locations do seem to request at least a partial deposit. Deposits may also be required in other regions if the SO selections are very personalized (ie if you have your personal initials hot stamped onto the bag) such that selling the bag to a different client, if the original client declines the bag, would be difficult.

Do I receive confirmation of my SO after placing my order?
In most regions of the world, the client gives their specifications to their SA and that is the last they hear about it until the bag arrives. Paris stores seem to be an exception to this and send the client a confirmation email within a few weeks of placing the order.

Is there a premium for a SO bag?
No, there is no premium price for SO bags. Their price is the same as any other standard stock bag of the same specifications at the time of delivery.

Is my SO a quota bag?
SO bags are generally counted toward a client’s two-bags-per-year limit at the time that the bag is received and paid for. If a client has already maxed out their quota bag allocation for the year, some stores will allow an exception to purchase your SO as a third bag for the year while other stores will require the customer to wait until a new calendar year before receiving the bag. These policies are subject to be changed per store at their convenience so it is always wise to check with your specific SA.

Where can I get ideas for my SO bag?
This thread shows unique combination bags and this thread shows contrasting stitching bags. Please consider posting your bag there once it arrives!

Where can I see historical SO menus?

Hi ladies,
The more I think about it, the more I can not decide on my PO. I have decided for Multico.
I narrowed down to B25 Retourne, B25 Sellier, K25 Sellier or Mini K but can not decide.

*Which bag
I would like to add a mini kelly to my collection and my SA told me currently it is much harder than K25/B25 - so using this PO opportunity to create Mini K is not too bad idea - whereas I do not feel the need of Mini K being multico because it is tiny. K25/B25 would benefit more since it is bigger bag and adding interestingness (multico) is a benefit!
I do not mind single pop color on Mini K since it is small - so I probably can wait without doing PO.
What I have are B25 Retourne in Noir and Sellier Etoupe.

*Colors
Gris T/Nata on Chevere or Gris Asphalte/Craie on Epsom are grabbing my attention.
I really love the Gris T on togo for its creamy pinkish undertone I love.

*Sellier preferred for multico
I somehow think for Multico option, Sellier looks better for clear color separation since Birkin Retourne shows a bit of piping of second color on the side. Do you agree?
Since I love Rose Gold HW and RG is only available for B (pity!) , I almost want to ignore that I prefer Sellier for multico.
What do you think?

Main color to be Gris T or Gris A for Kelly because I use it on my shoulder and it rubs with my coats which I might worry color changing... If Birkin, it does not matter so much to me.

I prefer Chevre to epsom for SLG but I find Chevre differs quite much depending on batch and I am worried I would get weaker thin one which might not hold shape on K25..?
I know Gris T goes well with my clothes. Gris A - I can not tell if it is kind of "Etoupe" or not since never seen in real life.
I do not like Khaki tone of Etoupe (epsom) whereas I am hoping Gris A is more like grey and beige without Khaki-ness. I do not like "yellow" undertone and I like more "pink" "blue" undertone.

IF I did not get B25 Sellier Etoupe, I would straight go for B25 sellier Gris Asphalte/Craie with RGHW, but now I have "similar" B25 with PHW :(

Sigh...it is overwhelming and dragging me. I think I came to the point I am not so much enjoying this "joy".
Any opinions, helps, chat would be appreciated!!

You already have two neutral B25s; go for a Kelly. The K25 is significantly easier to get through normal offers than a mini kelly; go for the mini kelly.

Other thoughts:
-no need to fear Chevre losing its shape in a small sellier bag,
-multico, imo, is overrated and easy to get sick of over the years, however the tones you’ve picked out shouldn’t overwhelm even a mini Kelly so if you’re set on Multico, no reason to avoid it on the K20,
-even though you cannot do RGHW on a kelly, permabrass is available and can be a nice compromise,
-it’s a SO, not a PO. :flowers:

I received a surprise call today from my SA that my K25 chèvre SO arrived - after 3.5 years! I had given up, especially since I slowed down my spending drastically during COVID. I thought they may not even call me when it’s here. Miracles happen!
Yay!! congratulations !!! you're giving me hope for mine.

First of all, please try to enjoy this process. It's really a special experience and your chance to create your dream bag and a unique heirloom simultaneously.

I am with you that Mini K does not need multico and IMO it's better verso. As long as you feel that you can and will get a Mini K at some point from your boutique (which if you've been offered SO you probably can) - I would go for K25. K25 is still small but much more useful than Mini K, and you have two B25s already. You can't do RGHW but you can do permabrass which is also lovely.

Gris T is fairly warm so would be a bit different from your Etoupe bag and of course very different from the Noir.

I choose chèvre every time for SO BUT yes, Gris T is different in chèvre than in Togo. Chèvre is more beige, Togo has more pink. It is still very beautiful in chèvre but I find it more...staid? neutral? Still, if you want sellier K it's chèvre or Epsom anyway and to me that is no choice at all. Chèvre is such a lovely leather.

A K25 sellier in any leather will hold its shape as there is a stiffening layer in the construction.

There have been a few GT/Nata combo bags posted and they are all insanely gorgeous.

Hope that helps?

I think I’m the minority here, but i actually think the mini k is the best size for multico!! I think the 25s look like they have a lot going on with a large surface area being two different colors. I vote for a mini k. I ordered a verso 25 and wish i went with the mini instead.

I’ve got it down to nata/gris perle multico chevre MK or noir/rose mexico verso chevre MK. ordering next week. so exciting! Thank you all for your input. Makes it (somewhat) easier.

Thank you so much @acrowcounted, @QuelleFromage, @nashpoo for writing me back. I narrowed down so a bit of progress!

I think reason why I am struggling is two cameleon color (GA on Epsom and GT in Chevre) looking so different in different light. Even for sure as leather I love Chevre over Epsom, however I think color is more important since from several meters away we notice more about color than leather.

I like elegance and a looking more "formal" than casual. I like dressing up.
Ladies, which "color set" do you think it is more "elegant" "dressier" and hint of "formal" in real life, not in pictures?

1. GA (2nd color : Craie ) on Epsom with permabrass
2. GT (2nd color : Nata) on Chevre with permabrass

Or.. should I go for reverse for more elegance? (GA or GT as 2nd color?)

Stitching
Tonal or Sakura or Mauve pale stitching. (Would Sakura stitching on GA or GT give more casual looks?
(I am also hoping artisan will pick up "pinkish" batch than yellowish batch and having Sakura stitch may make him/her pick a bit pinkish batch:no: or am I wishing too much?)
Unlike popular opinions, I am not big fan of white stitching on Gold or Etoupe since IMO it gives more casual impression.

My style is more like dress/skirt than pants. Lots of silks and laces. Prefer elegance.
My wardrobe is black, white, ivory, light blue, navy, light pastels - with a bit of blue/green added by twilly/Carre sometimes.
I do not wear strong color except I am on holiday at southern Europe (like D&G flowery dresses etc). I do not wear blue denim jeans nor denim jacket.

If mini kelly I would use strap (crossbody or hang from shoulder), if K25 I would use mainly on crook of my arm.

*Pictures from @Olivia915 (thank you!) for GA and @dailyloves , @LovinDesigner for GT (thank you both!) and resellers.

Comment would be so much appreciated!
