The one year production time quoted is a new addition (I think from last 3 year’s) terms and conditions. It wasn’t included in our previous earlier contracts. I would expect it to be completed within a year from the date of the final confirmation of design and second deposit payment. Most people do not really share much about their Horizon projects and many clients do not take up the invitation anyway so there isn’t much information on this forum.

Thank you for the feedback and it is understandable that individuals might not want to share their personal one-off projects on an open forum.

Mine was placed in mid 2019, and then a lot of waiting on the design and changes, and finally confirmed in mid 2021. I'm hoping to get it by end of this year! I think it also depends on how extensive the project is! But good luck if you are waiting for yours to arrive. It's so exciting!!

They will not make any production bags. The point is that it would be an item made specifically for you. You may be able to design some sort of doll bag that differs from the standard Kelly. Keep in mind that this service is significantly more expensive than buying something from the boutique.

It used to be placed under Horizon yes, when it was "not in collection", especially for store Horizon orders for their special reopenings, but as it was offered for A La Carte/ Special Order recently, I do not think they would accept it now. You can always try asking, the quote will include the premium for having a bespoke version made.

A truly custom one of a kind designed piece made by a special division of Hermes where you have an appointment to describe the use case for the item and any important particulars, like leather type, size, etc. These aren’t tweaks to existing items but rather completely new builds from the ground up (and typically can’t look too much like a common production H item). The couture-ness of the process carries a high price premium as well (think AT LEAST 3x a similarly sized standard production bag, and often way more than even that).

Yes exactly. You can go to your home store or at FSH to ask. It's not as exclusive as SO or quota bag in that you need to be offered/invited. Customization is a regular thing that Hermès offers to everyone. Hermès Horizon operates separately from the regular atelier, and I guess you could say that in the price you also pay for the opportunity for Hermès to make you a bag in your specification. As mentioned above, for this example, you will pay about 3x the cost of the bag you are requesting for (and more than 3x if you want tweaks in the design as well such as extra pockets, D-rings, etc).

Horizon is another division of Hermes that has more creative freedom due to how it creates custom or small projects. Horizon doesn’t only produce customer custom orders, but also is in charge of creating special, limited pieces in some cases for store openings (the latest Homage a Kelly Kelly for Maison Madison was created by Horizon). Horizon does edit Kellys and Birkins as seen with that edition as well as the Kelly Lakis (a Horizon project for Lakis Gavalas). A friend of mine has a horizon Birkin 25cm that has a custom color and lining, which was part of a larger horizon project. There really isn’t any limit, but they do not want people to use Horizon as a backdoor to quota bags. One can bespoke order a quota bag if they are established clients whose wish can not be fulfilled by the limitations of special orders.

The RMS suitcases are also a project by Horizon as well as all the bicycles, skateboards, surfboards, surfing gear, and fishing gear. These items are now available to purchase in stores like the St Louis disco ball which was a customer’s project that has been commercialized now. The reason why a completely custom item like a bag is so costly is that one must pay for the design team, renderings, prototypes, and all the behind the scenes of creating any item from zero, which can include travel of the team in some cases. For projects from scratch, it’s more like 10x comparable, commercial price.
