2. My other option would be to buy them on the website as they are in stock there in etoupe in a 37. HOWEVER I would then need to stretch the calves, and I am also not sure if the length will be comfortable! Does anybody have some advice about this as to whether it is possible to stretch the calves and whether it is a comfortable fit on the shorter girls?

I am 5- 2 1/2, and I have them in size 37. I got the regular style, not the shorter style for the Asian market. They are totally fine on me. I think it depends more on the length of your legs than your height. I am short-waisted and have relatively long legs. I do have muscular calves from years of chilldhood ballet classes and still work out now, and the calf fit is snug. the pair that I got (in mocha from 4 years ago) had very thick Box leather, much harder and thicker than my second pair from the following year (in black). I had the mocha pair stretched at Shoe service Plus (now called the Leather Spa) in New York, which is where Hermes sends their shoes. I had them stretched 1/2 inch (be careful not to stretch too much because the strap still has to fit) and that made it a lot easier. You can also stretch them naturally by wearing them. I wore them with tights and leggings first, and worked my way up to tucking in pants and jeans.
I think that in etoupe, the leather is swift and it seems much softer than box leather. My black pair in box is also softer and I didn't need to stretch that.
They are difficult to take off even after stretching. A wonderful tpf'er told me about this small boot jack that makes it much easier now, for only $7.99.

IMO, the Asian cut would be more comfortable for you in terms of width and height. I'm 5' 5.5" (165cm) and I did find the regular cut a little tall and hit behind the knee especially when I sit (though the Etoupe has since soften and slouch down a little since it's swift).

Etoupe can look grey, mushroom beige and brown depending on lighting. Here are some pics and it's all of the colours or somewhere in between in real life.

Love, love, love your coat!!

Thanks for all your advice. I am almost tempted to order the normal style from the website and take a chance that the won't be too high and that I will be able to get them stretched a bit. It does sound from what Ms Piggy says that the box calf version is tighter on the calves than the etoupe. I am just so hesitant to order on line but I am very tempted!!!

I ordered mine by phone since Hermes in Greece didn't have them in size 42. However I asked from them to stretch the shaft by 2cm (which is the maximum stretching they can provide).
Moreover I think that if you pay for them, you can get them try them on and if they do not fit you can return them and get your money back. This is not applicable, if you stretch them.
The boots are superfine, and comfortable (which gets better time after time) as long as you take them off (this is pretty tough).
Finally, can anyone provide a photo where the sole of the etoupe jumping boots is easily seen? Is it black or other colour?
Thank you!

I recently bought the riding boots in black and I am 5'1" and normally take a Chanel 37.5 flat (I usually am always in Chanel flats)... I had my SA hold a couple different sizes and the 37 fit me perfectly. They are really comfortable and great boots.

Several years ago, I made one of my greatest eBay scores: a pair of Hermes dark brown crocodile riding boots. They had been worn by a runway model, and since I have big feet, too, I was able to get them for $2000. They were in perfect condition (the soles were barely scratched), and I'm glad I took the plunge--I don't know what crocodile knee-high riding boots cost retail, but I know I couldn't afford them.

Hello all,
I haven't been on here for a long while!!! However, I just purchased a pair of brown jumping boots on Ebay!!! I have been dreaming of having these for the longest time and finally jumped on it when I called to find the current retail price on these babies! Whoa!
Any how, I purchased them in size 38 which fits perfectly but the calf is a bit tight at the moment as I am pregnant.
Does anyone know if the Hermes Boutique on Bloor will stretch them a bit for me? I would rather bring them there than to my regular shoe guy.....
TIA
L

FYI
For those living in the Toronto area and need your boots stretched, Hermes on Bloor does not do it on sight but recommends their clients to go to KANERS located on Bloor as well!

Great find! Lucky you. I think they retail at at least $15 000 or more.
