While I adore Hermes riding boots, my calves are just a little over 14 inches and I have trouble with most high boots. It might seem like sacrilege to do so, but I have a wonderful cobbler here who sews elastic gussets into my boots for me, and replaces leather soles with rubber so I won't slip. The gussets are cut on the inside of the boot and the leather is sewn onto the elastic in strips so that the gusset barely shows, and I usually wear high boots with long skirts. I hate to desecrate a museum piece, but it's the practical thing to do.

I think it's a great idea. I have heard of this before. If you have a good cobbler, why not?

Does anyone have pictures of the Distance Boot? I find the Bardigiano boot leather quite hard and stiff, which makes them uncomfortable. My Hermes crocodile riding boots soften up as they warm on your foot and leg. Someone said the Distance Boot is soft. Any pictures, info, prices?

^ Someone posted a thread recently on the Distance boot. The title is something like "Going the Distance." There were great photos there.

do these boots run true to size?
Hi jacqualyn2
I am embarrassed so say I own 3 pairs of these boots and I would say YES they do run true to size. There are several threads about these boots floating around this Forum. But for me, they fit true to my USA size.
And BTW they are terrific boots~LOVE them (ya think with three pairs?)
