Hermes Riding Boots

Thank you so much for the comment and suggestion @periogirl28 - I am rather "thick" with an athletic build. I can visually see that the boots would be tight not only in the calves but the whole leg! To complicate matters I have a high instep - which does not cause me any issues - but because of the slope of my foot, I cannot put the boot on as it approaches the slope of the boot! I will continue to live vicariously thru you all.
Oh I see, well I hope you find some very chic and elegant alternatives which are more suitable for you. I have to be frank, H Jumpings aren't made for much walking so they aren't the best boots in the world to wear for hours. 😉

I agree the riding boots aren’t comfortable for long..which is why I tried the Land Boots and love them. Comfortable for walking in all day. They pair well with jeans and look great with skirts and dresses. I had Hermes make me three pairs in custom colors and have two black pairs one with shearling inside and the other without.

I sold my box jumping boots after one wear. I cannot justify the stiffness and pain I endured while wearing them. I absolutely love the style, but not comfortable at all. I am 178 tall, slender and my ankles are skinny (at least that's what I am thinking:biggrin:). The boots hurt the most from the ankles and pressured the ankle bones a lot. Made the walking practically impossible. I wore the boots with the thickest socks possible, but still was hurting as hell. Probably the suede ones are leg friendly (like Tamara wearing). Are the suede ones a new season? Screenshot 2024-11-10 at 18.54.41.jpeg

I am not sure, if the suede boots do not have a stiffer leather inside, too, to maintain the shape. Maybe someone owning them can chime in?

Now that you sold the riding boots it is anyway to late, but let me just share my experience, maybe for a next try: I am riding horses my whole live and experienced the same things with my actual riding boots as with my Hermes riding boots: it is a kind of hell breaking them in during the first 1-10 times you use them. Then it will be better and after a few months they are as comfortable as your slippers at home. I always try to use them and keep them in good shape for as long as I can, because of this. The benefit is that they last me usually 5-10 + years in my 4season climate.

In my opinion the combination of a no-zipper style and a stiffer leather to keep the shape and protect your feet and ankles will always come with the breaking-in period.

Hope you find boots you like and can tolerate ☺️

Thank you @Goldenbelle for the reply. Suedes probably don't have the stiffness because I can see she can bend the boots and there's thinner wrinkles. With box boots it's impossible to bend like that, maybe after the first year of constant wearing. Jumping boots were an emotional purchase for me - tried them on at the store for 5 seconds. I believe with my ankles the Honey boots will be more practical in any way (for me). I have worn equestrian boots too in the past and never had such a bad ankle bone pain. I guess these are not for me, I am accepting that :)

My suede Jumpings are very soft and much, much more comfortable than the Box pairs I own. I do not notice any stiff leather used to line the suede. So far I can manage in all of them, the Box did not need breaking in and I can wear them for a day of walking in Paris for example. I am sorry to hear about yours.

The suede jumpings are also on the German website now, but sold out in my size. I think about asking my SA if she can order them for me. The box jumpings are way too tight and stiff for my feet...are the suede ones a bit wider in the toe box area?
