Capri is in southern Italy.;) I don't know about franchise vs. non-franchise but in terms of stock Beaulieu-sur-Mer is wee baby tiny store by the port. I doubt you'd have a lot of luck if you're looking for a particular bag, eg. B or K, there. Cannes and Monaco are huge, as is Aix. St. Tropez is also large; 2 stories. I'll let someone else tell you about the franchise vs. non-franchise, but I'd definitely let the size of the store dictate where I was going if I were looking for a specific item:smile1:

Yes I know where Capri is (that's why I put Capri in parentheses). It's the other place I'm going at the end of my trip (too lazy to ask in another thread :giggles:). Thanks, though! What if I went looking for Capri, Ravello, Positano in the south of France-- it would be more challenging than finding a Birkin :giggles:. I'm actually going to be in all those places aside from Marseille anyway on my romantic trip.....just wondered how many suitcases I should bring :graucho:

LOL, didn't mean to sound snarky!:flowers: I actually edited because I read what you wrote and saw you meant to include in franchise question. Anyhoo, sounds like a fabulous trip! I loved Capri. Rumor has it they have an attic/2nd floor walkup full of goodies...though at the time I was more interested in the food:roflmfao:. OT, so I'll be quiet, sorry mods!

Oh okay! Thanks for the tip about the second floor! (No worries, it's good you cleared things up! What if someone went to France looking for Capri because of me!! :p)

Well, I dunno...never say never, I guess. One of my most pleasant experiences was in Cannes as a first time walk-in, and was given a whole oodle of free goodies (perfume samples, Hermes magazine) from a lovely SA (Sophia), even before purchasing anything. Fluent French may help!:smile1: .

I don't know when you went but the store in Cannes .. has lots of new SAs, and I do speak French - hum pretty well actually ;)

Are Monaco and France on the same system? I'm going to be in Monte Carlo in a couple months to meet my parents. Just wondering if they will let me get a kelly pochette there if I got a birkin in Paris this year. Thanks!

I don't think there is any chance of finding anything in French Rivera. I was in Nice, Monacco, and Cannes from Feb. 23 to 26, and had no luck at all in finding anything. The shelves were really empty. And what's even more suprising is I saw a shelve of bag in Nice store, including Lindy, Jypsiere, GP and a lot of good stuff, when I went inside, the SA told me the whole shelf was on reserve!! I don't know if the SA is telling the truth or not. But overall, these three stores, the SA all replied politely, yet it felt like a soft rejection.

Seriously, how can a "whole shelf" be reserved?! If so, wrap them up, put them in boxes, and hide them! It makes me upset.....

I think they use this tactic to ring-fence stock. I saw the same situation in Beaulieu sur mer. The whole shelf had tags of "reserved". But when I asked to see a bolide, the SA was more than happy to show me and I can definitely buy it if I wanted.

Yeah, that's what I thought, how could a whole shelf be reserved?! But no kidding, that's exactly what they said. It was a rather big shelf, with at least 10 bags from the top to bottom. Then I asked, so what's available? The SA kindly pointed me to a shelf of very few bags, all of which I didn't know the name, they were all non-leather bags. Of the three stores, this and Cannes had nothing at all to offer.

Well, the situation in Nice store was nothing like Beaulieu sur mer, I was interested in the Lindy, and asked about the size and other details, and then I asked GP, she replied everything is reserved. She wouldn't show any bag to me. Maybe she was waiting for me to spend some big money before she is willing to show me the reserve shelf? :p
