Hiya girls!

I´m new in the forum and just wanted to say hello and tell you about my first ever visit to a store in London.

I visited SF store last weekend without an appointment. The lady taking care of the waiting list asked me how she could help and I explained my bday is coming and I was looking for a Herbag. She automatically repeated the "no bags available today" classic, and I said no worries, I would also love to see some tableware. She said there was an hour queue but they could meassage me when ready and I said OK. Just before I left, an SA jumped it and offered to help.

I repeated the whole thing to her and she said let´s have a look. She was super nice and we clicked very easily. She´s got a great sense of humour! I think it also helped I explained I´m new in the UK, so I don´t have a profile here.

We started looking at some porcelain and she was super sweet helping me to get what I wanted without any fuss. Then, I asked about the Herbag and she went to look at stock. She came back saying they had a Garden Party in stock but I declined politely, as I truly want a Herbag. Then, she said they might actually have one, although not in my favoured colours. However, I did try it and although I could not see it working with my style (it was all black, and I´m looking for something a bit more colourful for every day use) it was really gorgeous. I was supe lucky to be offered with it straightforward!

I got me the tableware, asked her to let me know if any more stock comes in so I can add to my collection, and also politely asked to receive an update whenever they get another Herbag, which she said she is more than happy to do.

Overall, it was a great experience and I loved how easy-going and relaxed my SA was, which made the experience really enjoyable!

I have two questions for you guys, as you are more experienced with stores in London.

First, I noticed I was offered with a bag straightaway, even although I wasn´t a pre-existent customer. Do you think it's easy to get a Herbag at the moment? Or was it just beginner's good luck?

Second, I truly loved my SA and I plan to go back to her for any future requests. But I am thinking, should I try other shops as well to resouce my bag? Or will that be noticed and put me in a bad position?

Thank you in advance for your time and have a lovely day!

Herbags aren’t super popular so shouldn’t be too hard to find. No pre-spend or existing profile is required to be offered one. I suggest trying the other shops as well as the website, they pop up there sometimes though you have to be quick. Or even resale sites, I can’t imagine Herbags going for over retail. Good luck!

Echo the reply before me - the only reason you might wait a while for the Herbag is due to the colour you want. Usually when I go into store they will have Herbags available but just not in colours I want (I’m quite picky as I already have a few).

I would suggest you keep an eye on the UK H website as they pop up there and I got one of mine from there a few years ago.

Hi Gelato,

Many thanks for your help!

I have been checking the website for a while, but no luck so far. Regarding pre-loved Herbags, these can be over retail sometimes! I only checked Vestiaire Collective, but I was shocked about the prices considering that, as you say, it's not a super popular model. I guess, there are too many cunning re-sellers out there trying to take advantage of real fans. There's no way I'm paying for a second hand bag in very questionable condition over retail price.

I was thinking to give Royal Exchange a chance. Any ideas on how are the staff there? Equally friendly or a bit more stiff? I am rather hesitant to go to NBS or Harrod's for now, as everyone says they can be quite rude, and I'm not the kind of person who accepts that sort of behaviour with a big smile...

Thank you so much! Yeah, I think it's all about the colour, as you said (and I can be quite picky myself, so we have that in common!) But thanks for letting me know you have no problem with finding Herbags. That's great news! Is there any shop where you have noticed they have more stock for them?

Many thanks in advance!

I’m a one store woman lol so I only go Selfridges H but usually they have good stock of Herbags! I’m not sure on the other stores unfortunately!
I have been into other stores but didn’t really connect with any SA’s.
I saw you mentioned Royal Exchange in the city - personally I found the SAs okay, but I found it difficult to build a relationship and I feel like only really good existing clients will get quota bags.
Happy hunting!

I would stick to the Selfridges store. In my experience if you are loyal to them, they are loyal to you in return and end up finding a way to make you happy, sooner or later. I do buy from other stores when I’m looking for RTW or things they won’t have in stock and it’s no secret, but my heart is definitely at Selfridges!

Thank you so very much for the info! Royal Exchange does seem a bit less busy than other shops, but it's good to know that SAs aren't as open as SF personnel!

That's super useful, thank you! I chose SF because I read here they are far more approachable than any other locations and I must say they didn't disappoint. I am very contempt to keep coming back, if that helps! Also, I liked my SA genuinely as a person, so I am keen on helping her buying more!

Sorry to jump in but choose to build a relationship with an SA you like as a person and get on with. Me and my SA have a lot in common personally and get on so well. It doesn’t really matter about your spend from an SA point of view as I was told they don’t work on commission - they will produce for loyal clients but also clients they like and want to help achieve their goals.
I wouldn’t say I have a huge spend, like average (maybe a bit below) but I’m loyal to the brand, I will buy all the stuff I actually want and refuse to purchase things I don’t love (my SA knows what I like and actually refuses to sell me stuff he knows I’m buying for the sake of it).

This may sound like an odd question, but does anyone who shops at Cadogan Place have a SA? I've been there a few times (it's where I scored my first - and only - quota bag) but haven't seen the same person every time. Do they work differently there, or do I just need to go more often?! I have more general questions about SAs which I'll post in the 'building a relationship' thread

I’ve had a total of 2 proper SA relationships at Cadogan. My first SA left just towards the end of December 22 and assigned me his colleague who has been present with us when I have gone in to shop. They’ve been great and consistent. I do tend to make appointments with them before I go in or request to only see that SA when I’m in the area. If you do have a name I would suggest asking is X working today? So they are aware you want to see said person.

I’ll keep an eye on the other forum too :)

Thanks, good to know! I was there last week and asked for the SA with who I placed my order and subsequently sold me the bag, but they were off that day. I saw two other SAs, one regarding a bracelet I purchased, who then referred me to a leather specialist regarding SLGs, both of whom were lovely, but I'm thinking I should stay with my OG?

I would try sticking with your OG for now and see how it goes. I definitely played the field with a few SAs until I found the one I connected well with. Then you always have the choice of moving on to the other two SAs :)

Based on the offers we’ve received since 2021, I do not believe SA relationships matter or help in any way in getting your wishlist (for a B/K/C) fulfilled at CP.
