So I decided to try my luck today as I was in London for my birthday to see whether I would be able to score a mini Lindy.
I arrived at the Bond Street store at 10:52am and was greeted by the hostess who kindly advised that the leather department was already full, and that they had no stock at that point and was waiting for a delivery. She asked me to come back later and try again.
I then popped into Selfridges to try my luck there, and they confirmed that they had no bags today and were not expecting to receive anything.
I returned to the Bond Street store at 11:52am and the hostess responded that this was a good time to come back, however, they had still not received their expected delivery. I waited upstairs for around an hour/hour and 30 minutes for the delivery to arrive. Unfortunately, they did not receive any mini Lindys today (they had received some yesterday and these were sold out). I was offered a garden party 30 in biscuit, herbag 31 in red, and in the loop bag in purple. All of which I declined.
I guess it was not meant to be; but what I did learn was that regardless of whether you queue first thing, there is no guarantee that the stock will arrive at that time so it's not always necessary to go first thing especially if they turn you away and ask for you to come back. Of the leather appointments, there were only two people in front of me so I presume the first batch of clients decided to leave. I also found that the SAs seemed a lot more friendly in Bond Street and I'm not sure when I will get the chance to go back on a weekday to repeat this process. Maybe I will try my luck next time in Paris.
On the plus side, I was able to amend my wish slightly, however, I am not expecting this wish to be granted since I don't visit the store regularly enough and don't have a regular SA there anymore.
