Hi everyone, it’s been a long time since I last posted. A lot of people are asking about tips on how to score. If you want my honest opinion there’s nothing transparent. I got offered my K20 rouge sellier in chèvre chamkila, PHW and it’s abit special as it comes with two straps, just 2 days before Christmas Day (just in time before the price increase!).
Admittedly most of my spend is on equestrian and homewear. When I searched for my SA in my store I asked for someone who has knowledge on horses and tack, mine was allocated to me as he also rides. To me this was a winner we get on so well and have alot in common and I genuinely think he’s an asset to the brand. I think it’s important you 1) have a lovely relaxed relationship 2) you are loyal to your SA 3) absolutely no resellers! Believe me when I tell you, they do eventually find out.
I think what ruins it for the rest of us is there’s too many resellers acquiring bags they personally don’t want and flipping for a huge profit. Sadly the brand is unable to keep up the the supply and demand.
I also want to give you a tip, if you genuinely don’t love a QB you’ve been offered don’t take it! I have on a few occasions respectfully declined and waited out for what I truly want, and trust me it does happen If people would stop buying for the sake of buying your SA will get to know you better and can than offer you things you will personally use. Nothing pleases them more when you love what you’ve got. And the obvious one is always remain polite and don’t hound for bags, imagine how many people a day do this. Relax your time will come ♥️ I admit I am sometimes vague when it comes to handbags and only ask when I get the “itch” to treat myself to a bag. I genuinely love everything Hermes has to offer when it comes to Equine, to me this is more exciting best of luck guys x

I avoid all of the standalone boutiques they are just awful! Unless I'm wearing my Kelly Mini (then everyone will flock to me) I just get ignored... I would 100% recommend Selfridges. Email ahead to secure an appointment and you'll have a great experience and the stock is fab!
I agree the staff are wonderful but my experience is that they dont have the best choice of stock.
I often have to look online for shoes, Calvi, and Scarves.
Best stock I find is Bond St or Harrods but I dont like the staff at Bond St and Harrods is a bit of a trek for me.

Has anyone managed to get a mini Lindy as a walk in? My other half and I have been stalking the website and we saw one pop up, however, this was gone in a flash. A few SAs have advised that it is possible to get one during the week so we will try our luck, but just wanted to see what other people's experiences were?

This is also a bit of a superficial question, but do people also find that they have a better experience with SAs when they wear their quota bags (for those who do not have a regular SA as my SA left H some time ago)? There has been a lot of watch crime recently in London and I wanted to see whether people still felt safe wearing their BKC in London?

I don’t wear my watches in London anymore for now, but I feel comfortable enough carrying my B though. I think watches are easier to hawk on the black market and more easily stolen in comparison to bags.

In response to the earlier query regarding getting a Mini Lindy - I’ve been told that the only way is to do a walk-in. Perhaps I was trying during a challenging period in respect of the Christmas break, but I think if you have the time to try for a bag during weekdays, your best bet is opening time Tuesdays to Fridays. I know it’s not guaranteed that they will have their deliveries in the morning, but the problem is that once you’re further down the queue, given how popular the Mini Lindy is, all it takes is that one person to be ahead of you who scores the bag before you do, as I don’t think they tend to get many MLs in one delivery. Otherwise you have to hope that you come in at just the right time to be offered one. Happened to me in Harrods where the ML was offered and taken by the person just before my turn. I might be over-thinking it, but it’s just me and my ruminations on this haha.

Please don't go OT, see this thread Wearing Hermes in London.

I'm in a slight predicament as I live and work just outside of London so it's a little difficult for me to pop in during the weekday. It's my birthday next week and I will be visiting London to do a bit of shopping so I'm thinking whether to try my luck then, but just not sure about spending a couple of hours in the queue on my actual birthday when I can be better spending that time.. especially when there is no guarantee I will even get the bag. We shall see!

Do you recall what the colour combination was for the ML in Harrods?

Thanks for your input about wearing your B in London. I have had my B25 for 2 years and have hardly used it. My other half is cautious with me wearing it in London, but I'm hoping this may improve my chances and I'll be taken more seriously when I go into the boutiques.

It was Cassis with GHW in Clemence I believe.

If you can spare the time, go for it, I guess. You miss 100% of chances that you don’t take, or some other platitude to that effect haha!

I’d suggest leaving the colours as they are; listing colour families (like darker reds, darker blues) increases your chances compared to being very specific (like only Rouge H, Bleu Nuit) while still ensuring any offer you receive is likely to be something you like. As for making changes, supposedly it pushes you further back in the ‘queue’ or so I heard, but who knows if they actually go down the list in any order or if the allocation is random?
Happy new year gelato…
so.. to update you , sad my wish expired yesterday .. nth came through I’m going to renew it tmr . need some advice from you before the store visit.
1) do I have to stay with the same wish (all options remain the same) ? would diff options affect or push back the “queue“?

thank you

Don’t feel sad, more often than not wishlists don’t get fulfilled. As you’re making a new wish, you can choose whatever options you want (of course, subject to the store’s policy on limitations such as number of colours you can put down, either sellier or retourne instead of both sellier and retourne etc.). Your ‘place in the queue’ so to speak will not be affected by the options you put down when you start the new wish. As I said before, it’s better to list colour families rather than very specific colours.

What bag specs are you hoping for this time?

I’m going to WISH the same . As previously I had put both sellier & retourne, now I’m thinking the best is to just focus the sellier as my first Kelly … I’m so happy to speak to you again . Btw, would you mind to share some of your experience in Kelly (sellier and retourne) and choice of leather.

Hi Gelato. I wanted to ask would changing wishlist throughout 8 months (I did amends 2-3 times re shape, leather and colour) push you further back the queue? Or they still look when the wishlist was created?

Also a question, is wishlist now for 8 months or 1 year? At CP they said the new wishlist system is for 1 year now and at Selfridges they reassured me it still expires in 8 months. I'm confused!

Re. making changes and whether it pushes you further back in the queue, I’ve heard this from a few SAs, but whether it is true or not I don’t know. What’s important though is to keep your wishlist up-to-date; even if it might mean your ‘place in the queue’ is reset when you make a change, it still means whatever offer you might receive will be closer to your preferences. In my opinion this is much better than leaving the specs as originally created in fear of losing your spot in the ‘queue’ and then ending up with a bag that doesn’t make you happy.

Re. wishlist length, I’ve only heard of 8 months, but apparently some other members have reported 1 year. I don’t think this influences your chances of receiving an offer, it’s not like they give priority to those whose wishlists are close to expiring! In any case, I think the validity length depends on the store. Same for how many colours you can name, style (either/or sellier vs retourne OR both sellier & retourne) etc.
