I like Royal Exchange (bf used to work very close to it) and I used to frequent it but every time I wanted to purchase something, they never had my size or colour available. I didn’t really click with any of the SAs either. Since bf moved offices, I don’t have a reason to go there and haven’t been in a while!

I think my preferred is Selfridges H. I go to Bond St occasionally but again, don’t really enjoy the SAs there.

Personally, I believe it is sincerely dependent on your SA relationship. If my SA were to move stores, I would follow them.

Same! I used to shop at Bond st then that SA moved to Cadogan then Harrods and although I personally dont like Harrods I moved there because of her (I must add I was only a small spender In Hermes terms in those days but my purchases were a big deal to me and i loved seeing her and chatting all things Hermes with her)-she left the company to start a family and so I would go into Bond st to buy my scarves and bracelets and fragrance but I always felt rushed and that the SA weren't interested in building a relationship with me, I finally gave up on Bond St when My DH and I went to buy me a cape cod watch for my 50th birthday and we were ignored for ages then kind of pushed away when they didn't have the black faced model I wanted.
Since discovering the team at Selfridges although they dont have a vast selection I prefer to shop there.
They are welcoming, and helpful and try to find what I want and give me good advice.
SA relationship is everything.

Yes, agree, Bond St make me feel like because I’m not spending £££‘s on RTW, Homewear and misc SLGs, they have no interest in building a relationship with me nor offering me a bag even before wishlists came into effect. Apparently they expected me to like other models of bags besides B and K and C. I said sorry but I genuinely don’t like other models, the only non quota bag I like is the Herbag.
At Selfridges, the team are much friendlier and my SA refuses to let me buy anything that I don’t absolutely love. I don’t know what I would do if he left!

Just out of interest would you say you prefer it to Bond Street?

Personally yes for the experience, convenience and my SA. However NBS has RTW which is a big plus. Technically I shop probably 70/30 RE to NBS.
Have better experience in Selfridges than Harrods (latter just too busy, all the time and I’m in Harrods often, and during ‘quiet’ periods). Have been to Cadogan once 10yrs ago...

My experience and perspective as a "tourist" will be different but here it is: ( I come to London at least 1-2 times year for a few weeks for pleasure/work- this year? not so much)
I LOVE the store and the SAs/SM at Royal Exchange. I have been to all the stores except Selfridges, and they are by far the most helpful and easiest to work with. When my husband and I went in after a year, the SA immediately remembered us ( well, mostly the DH!) and the scarf he had gotten me, what our taste is, and was able to find us what we wanted that time as well. Now, I email or call before I know I will be there, so we can be a bit more efficient. They also know what I like and will email me to see if I am coming in the near future.
I don't know if they do store to store transfers in the UK, but if I wanted something very specific, I would probably email them with plenty of time so they COULD get it if possible if they did not have it in stock
Yes, I agree, for RTW etc. Bond Street has the most stock but it is rushed to say the least. But honestly, I have always ( except in the leather dept) been treated very nicely.
I have also had lovely experiences at Sloane street.

Yes SA can do store to store transfers in UK and also cs on the telephone can transfer to your local store within UK too. However if the item is in a different country, you have to call the store yourself.

Totally! The SA can make or break the deal. I love RE - more homey feel than most, especially now that we are all masked up and I feel like a bandit. Harrods I d rather not go there...

Hi all, just wanted to share my story with my Birkin hunt in London and the new system. I phoned on the 7th of September to book an appointment with a leather specialist at new bonds street on the 19th, I was already heading up to London that day, and thought why not see what I could do? I will preface this with saying I have literally no relationship with Hermes at all! and until the 19th I hadn't made a purchase.

So I spoke to a lovely guy on the phone and booked my appointment for 1:30ish, me and dad went into the appointment and mum and her friend went looking around the other stores, we lined up at about 12:50 as we walked past and saw a huge queue, and the was a guy walking the line asking people what they are wanting today, I mention I have a leather specialist apointment booked and he tells me the is no need to queue up, I can look around other stores or go to a cafe and come back for my appointment time and we can come straight in.

This is what we decide to do and we pop over to lv and I wanted to replace a vintage cles that had seen better days. We head back to Hermes and are greeted by the gentleman who spoke to us in the line earlier, asked what name the appointment was under and told us our specialist was ready, we are introduced to the specialist, no handshake at the moment, but he was lovely, and pointed us upstairs.

(a little side note, im super impressed with how they have used horse shoe stickers on the ground to show what direction to walk the store, beautiful nod to their equestrian history) We go upstairs and are seated in the middle of the store in the leather department, possibly 3 couples were on that floor with us, all far away with their own associates. we exchange pleasantries and he asks what im after, I explain im after a Birkin and with a knowing smile he says he will be back.

he brings me three "tester" birkins, these were quite beaten up but the was a 25, 30 and a 35, he also explained the is a size 40 but that's more a travel bag rather than a every day bag. While im looking he explains to me that they have changed how to get a Birkin, its now a "Wishlist" system, so you put up to three preferences and if the bag you want comes in then you are called.

I had written down a list of colours I had found that I liked from stalking the Hermes store online and he showed me some he recommend too, in the end I picked a size 30 (only one size can be chosen) vert almonde, deep blue and a dark grey that I cant remember the name off, but it was a nice cool toned colour. Then I was shown the hardware colours with each leather colour and I picked brushed ruthenium and the palladium as I'm a silver boy I don't really do golds.

It was then explained that the wish will be kept on the system for 8 months, after that you need to re wish. Obviously the more popular the colour the harder it is to get, I was then also informed they can keep the item for 5 days for you to come up and look, but that's it.

I thanked him very much and he asked if the was anything else I was looking to buy, I wanted to get a set of the Hermes tarot cards, and I was looking at the Apple Watch straps, sadly my arm is a little thick for the straps but he was brilliant at showing me the options and informed me they can add extra holes, im on a bit of a weight loss thing so hopefully it will be an option in the future.

So I just grabbed the tarot cards, and he put in some perfume samples for me and dad, very sweet of him! Well today I received an email telling me they have the bag in the size I want, in the preferred colour of vert almonde, and the second preference in hardware being the palladium, so im super amazed and impressed by the new system! Will let you all know what happens when we go up to get the bag on the weekend!

well, I definitely had a good reading :p so I would say so! I will say I think buying them could have had something to do with it? its one of their more unusual items and he didn't actually know about them until I asked. might have been good for me lol
