I knew precisely what I wanted when I went in but as far as I'm aware you have to be completely specific. The online form is a scroll list for the choices and will only except 1 option for colour, hardware, leather etc.

The Sloane street store in particular has a reputation, so if you are not a frequent shopper there, than the other stores may be worth a try. By saying you would have either a birkin or kelly it will come off as going after the bags for the status and not for the style.

If you can demonstrate that only one item will do then they are far more likely to help. I always go in being very specific and with full knowledge of what I want and they seem to respect that as it shows appreciation for the brand. When I put in my wishlist I was doing my Christmas shopping at the same time so that definitely helped.

Im also a client of Sloane Street, and from my experience, you can choose different colors, leathers and hardware. However, you can only pick either a birkin or Kelly, you can’t choose both.
Also, I wouldn’t say it is “impossible “ to score a classic if you are not a client. My neighbor got a Kelly 25, gold, after a casual visit, and her previous purchases were one pair of Oran sandals and two scarfs. I think it really depends on the SA you encounter.

Glad that you got your dream bag !
Do you know how many options shall I put in the waiting list.
I mean Do I have to be specific of which bag I wanfor example B30 and give few options for color &HW

Or I can say either B30 or K28 and add my color preferences?
I mean I’m on the look for B30, but I wouldn’t say no to K28 as it is in my wishlist as well
It’s possible to choose only one bag for country (as for what they are saying in England), either B or K, and you can choose more than one option of color, hardware and leather type, what, according to my SA, may help you to get the bag faster.

Thanks all for the intel on the wishlist coming back to UK. I'm a little confused, given the exceptions and general Store Manager / Assitant Manger input, doesn't it work in a very very similar way to before? Still quite a bit of lobbying for SA to do and ways to jump the queue no?

There's no real queue to jump. The 'queue' was implemented so that people couldn't jump it. But it's not completely like person A been waiting 3 months and person B only 2, so A gets it. They will look at who person A v B is.

Think of it rather as a crowd waiting for each different bag specs. If your in the crowd waiting for the Black Togo K r ghw 28 full of high-spending local clients the wait will be longer, if you're in a crowd of walk-ins and people who've bought very little wanting the same specs, your wait may be shorter.

I've only ever shopped in London (and when visiting) Paris. My husband, ( he knows very little about Hermes, but can definitely spot quality) was offered 'sought after' items and 'rare' combos. He is very non chalant about it and I think that wins them over. ;) I don't think it's like an algorithm where you spend this xxx amount and an item materialises within xx time period. I see this in the relationship thread where people are trying to work out the magic formula. I would say just ask for exactly what you want quite openly and occasionally remind them (without harranging the poor SA)

I am looking to purchase a Birkin and I have done my research and read so many posts on purse forum as to how I go about to get one.

So am I correct in thinking that I can go into the London bond street store and create a wishlist? How do I ask to create one? and will they say no as I have only bought scarves and jewellery from there before?

I am looking for a Birkin 25 Etain Epsom with Palladium hardware. But am also interested in the Noir Epsom, Vert Gris and Graphite colours. Can I add a range of birkins to the wishlist or only give details for one?

Also, I hear the epsom leather holds it's structure the best? is this true or does the clemency hold its structure well.

I am a newbie to this as usually shop in Chanel, but now I'm after my dream bag - a Birkin. I find this all so exciting but quite overwhelming as well as the process seems confusing and long! haha any answers would be much appreciated <3

Birkin 25 is no longer being produced in epsom (unless you mean the new and rare Sellier Birkin). Also, Vert Gris and Graphite colors are not currently in production either. Best just to go into the store and politely inquire with the SA who should be able to give you some indication of the process and your chances.

ETA you will probably get the best information if you keep your inquiries to the London thread as it seems london has a new system that the rest of the world does not and advice may become muddled.

Thank you so much! This helps a lot! Would have been so embarrassed asking for colours and leathers which are no longer in production!

Thank you both. Love the crowd analogy.

I’m relatively relaxed about my next bag. Just want to make sure I understand the concept.

Also my SA was quite rattled about it and kept referring to ‘a few bad apples ruining it for all’ which I didn’t completely understand the reference to.....Logically I would have thought this change has come about due to stock management in both pandemic and Brexit context (I understood past 18 m Hermes had been moving stocks back to continent to avoid major trade impacts over transition period).

As has been mentioned here the UK stores do not operate on individual SA commission which I appreciate.

There was gossip there was a dismissal. I'm saying no more :coolio:

I was pleased to see all my favourite SAs still around so no one I know too well. Not even sure which store.

Let's not see this thread turn into speculation-central please.

Really they don't operate on individual SA commission, I didn't know that thanks. How does the commission work in London stores then?
