Hermes boutiques in London

Went to Harrods today, walked straight in. It was bliss without the tourists, rather like the days when I used to go there to buy my school uniform, though that was 40 years ago!!!!
Hermes was quiet, nothing new so left empty handed. My SA in Sloane St said not to bother coming in as no new stock there either. I may give up on S/S collection as only CLF wanted and wait for A/W collection which will start to trickle in over the next month or two. With no social life to speak of I can bide my time

As per the banner on the UK site, all H shops in London reopened on 15/06. While I got a card through the post a few weeks back “wishing me well and looking forward to seeing me again very soon”, there was no further info as to the logistics of shopping with them from now on. I am still avoiding central London and I don’t think a mere “social visit” would be appropriate anyway. Blessing in disguise for me as the bill for redecorating my flat is always over budget.

Happy birthday!

And what lovely treats - I do find those horse-heads wonderfully charming!!!

NBS is also open again now, so I assume all other H owned stores will be too. It's my understanding they will be both arranging appointments for regulars but also holding a queue for walk-ins, so perhaps not quite the same approach that the US stores have been taking.

I'm not due to go in for a few weeks, once some pieces have arrived for me, but I'll update you all on what things are like if no-one has beforehand.
Thank you for the birthday wish! I won’t lie, I’m impatient and couldn’t figure out how to construct the charm. Bf had to do it lol

It’s good to know the stores are opening and although I’ve been served well by phone I have to confess I've been missing the stores environment (how crazy is this? The addiction is real!).
However, it turns out I have a bag that is looking super dried and I feel like I should bring it to NBS for treatment ASAP, but my SA left. Should I phone them to ask for an appointment? What do you guys think? Don’t want to be queuing at the door and not planning to buy also since Selfridges has been super good to me...

I’d definitely ring and book an appointment. Trying to shop has been exhausting with queuing.
I’m sure they will be more than accommodating for you esp if you are an existing client, regardless if your SA has moved on :)

Thank you for replying dear. Yes, a friend just reminded me that I can email the after sales lady and arrange it direct with her. Xx

Just a very quick update for my fellow Londoners. I visited Bond Street, which seems quite busy. It is Best to make an advance appointment because they limit the number of people Allowed in the store. Pleasant experience overall. I bought a couple of little things which will post in the other thread. Let’s hope there is no second wave and situation continues to improve. also went by selfridges but did not in as I find window less spaces a bit claustrophobic. Same with Harrods.

I just bought some more things and another bag over the phone from Selfridges Store. It’s not the same as the experience of visiting the store, of course. but if you know what you are looking for it works pretty well and they deliver it to you overnight.
Anyway, I might have to face the crowd at NBS since I have a swift bag that is looking super dry and I’ll have to go there to send it to the spa ASAP, no appointment needed, they said .

Let us know how it goes. When I went there was a long q. Dior and most others were empty but hermes was busy. Maybe it will get quiet again once the first enthusiastic shoppers make the trip.

I was at NBS today for a couple of hours from opening time. It felt fairly busy during the whole time I was there, but never cramped or uncomfortable, and certainly not as busy as pre-COVID. The outdoor queue only ever seemed to have a few people in it at most and people seemed to be seen efficiently. Now this may all just be because it was a Sunday, as generally most places seemed very quiet.

The team were as lovely as always and seemed to be managing with the various new protocols, although once inside and ignoring the face-masks, it felt like business as usual!

On Sunday, I took my first trip to central London in nearly 4 months. H on NBS was the only store on the street with a (small) queue. You have to wait outside until a SA becomes available.

The positive: the shop is much quieter

The negatives: No choosing your SA (unless you make an appointment). Unfortunately I ended up being paired with the one I dislike most.

Once inside, there’s the now mandatory stop at the hand sanitiser station where you also get offered a mask.

Obviously, all the SAs are wearing one which does not make for a pleasant interaction.

I also popped-in Selfridges where everyone was absolutely adorable. Left with Les Artisans in the cw I’ve been waiting for since before the lockdown plus some charming goodies: a “joyful gin & tonic” set, a special edition canvas tote bag & some colouring-in cards (I obviously look much younger than my actual age despite not having been to the barber since March...). They had run out of the little horse’s head charm. I’ll have to ask in CP whenever I go back there.

and here’s my haul of the day. There were some nibbles as well in the g&t kit but they mysteriously disappeared as soon as I got back home...

I didn’t feel like going out that much (besides exercising and doing groceries) and to my disappointment NBS in-house artisan left, what means my bag will need to face a trip to Paris. Not sure I’m ready for that.
On a side note, on Sunday I bought a scarf, earrings and another bag from Selfridges over the phone and my poor SA was super busy. It seems that is being quieter in the morning.

Congrats on your new purchases Leileka, but that really is a shame that Claire has left . It was so much quicker than Paris. I wonder if they’ll replace her at some point. Hope so!
