Just spoke to my SA from H Selfridges. He says the team is fine at the moment but today is their last day in before store closes. He said it’s a scary situation but they are remaining positive.

I’ve sent him my love and best wishes! I hope H are looking after their employees and paying them some sick pay or salary still.

Edit: he says they are being paid and he feels fortunate to be part of such an amazing company.

He passes on his best wishes to us H lovers and hopes we are all staying safe!

One of my London SAs has messaged that he will be away from Cadogan but has not said if the store is closed. I think he is being very responsible. We can resume our support of the business later when things are more normal. Shopping isn't exactly my priority right now.

I’m not sure I’d bet on Harrods closing unless forced. I was talking to some non-H employees and I think they’re a bit aggravated by it.

Apologies, I meant H-owned stores.
I suppose time will tell on Harrods, but they're certainly the outliers for now. If there is still sufficient trade and no change on government policy, they may well persist.

I'm very surprised that other dept stores haven't followed Selfridges lead and decided to shut.
A friend who works in retail told me someone in her boutique tested positive so all staff told to self isolate if they showed symptoms.
Also I know another girl who's boyfriend works in a London dept store (not selfridges another store ) where apparently 2 staff members had tested positive and others in their team sent home to self isolate.
I actually applaud Selfridges for being the only UK dept store to take the initiative to close before the government makes stores close.

I think it's simply shocking that Harrods is still trading and by implication spreading the virus!

Irresponsible and selfish behaviour. Like the selfish people who stockpile loo roll (!) creating artificial scarcity and adding to the panick. Some poor doctor and nurse is going to have to pick up the pieces.

Hi all! Does anyone know how to the special order process works in London? Is it super strict or can you hint that you want one?

I'm a good customer but can't imagine I am VIP. Been invited to some very small events...

Each store has a certain amount of slots allocated to them and if you have a good rapport with your SA they can nominate you for one which would have to be approved by the store manager before you’re invited in for your appointment. That’s what happened with me and I’m no way near a VIP.

Thanks! Did you ask for the SO directly or did your SA prompt the discussion?

Any advice on how to ask for one?
