I went to both NBS and Selfridges today. Selfridges was quiet. NBS had more people but I only had to wait a few minutes before getting seen. I was after a Herbag or Lindy but both stores didn’t have any. NBS had a few on display but they wouldn’t even let me try. I did buy a lovely compact silk-in wallet though.
Would appreciate everyone’s advice on how to build a relationship with Hermes in London. I started getting interested in the brand three years ago then my husband quit his job to set up his business which meant that bags had to be on hold. Now the business is doing well I felt ready to hunt for the bags I want again. I’d love a Kelly but no idea how to score one in London (apart from spending lots of £££ on things I probably don’t really want first). Thanks for your thoughts!
Congrats on your new purchase! Anything in an orange box is exciting!
I mentioned a few posts ago that I still find it difficult to build a relationship in NBS.
I’d say if you know what you want, put in a wish at NBS and see how that goes.
Selfridges I’ve found it much easier to build a relationship but I assume their stock of B and Ks is more limited than NBS. But for some of the less popular bags, you can score a treat!
If you have the time and patience, just keep visiting the store and chatting to the same SA. Sometimes you just click with someone and it’s just like seeing a friend! You may feel a bit weird talking and talking for “no reason” but I suppose it’s about making a lasting impression?
I have bought a fair few bracelets and twillys, a pair of sandals but I also don’t want to just buy things for the sake of it.
A friend of mine spent thousands on cushions and homeward at NBS and then got offered a B. I’m not really interested in playing that game but I admit to sometimes putting off a small purchase till I’m in a position to buy big if I think it might help my bag cause!
Saying that, the Herbags I’ve bought were my only purchase that day so I guess I didn’t need to buy anything else. When I was offered Bs (that I passed on) I had bought a bracelet and another time they asked if I was interested in anything else and I just said I’d buy twillys if I got offered a bag!
Selfridges seem to really try to look after their domestic clients - I’ve witnessed them telling more tourist clients they don’t have things then getting to me and offering me products they literally just said they didn’t have!
