Hermes Blacklist?

I think it was an individual from the FB group who would’ve sent the details to them. Perhaps a reseller felt threatened. Because there are so many people whose business is to resell Hermès products and they’d have to be chasing them all.

I thought one of the main purposes of those FB groups is to sell to one another. IDK

Australia online returns are considered within 30 days of purchase. Your purchase date was the 21st September, still well within 30 days at the time I write this (3rd October). You didn't mention that a return attempt was made/declined so I don't understand why you wouldn't just return it to Hermes for a refund at no cost to you.

I imagine you had your name listed in your listing for them to identify you with certainty. If your listing price was inflated over retail excluding any payment fees and postage, I support their letter to you.

Wow, didn’t think this was real but I remember reading your post about the black herbag and you eventually got one with ghw thats why you no longer needed the other.
What if the bag wasn’t new anymore, it wouldn’t have been good to return it to the store even if within the 30 days return window.
There are too many resellers that they never bother taking action on, and unless you marked up the price or have been at it more than once or had any other indication of a red flag, they probably should have looked further.
I get frustrated browsing the site when I’m trying to decide between colors and they flag me as a bot, but this is next level.
Thanks for sharing this.

she said in her first post “I was planning on returning the bag but was curious about how reselling works”

Based on this language, I suspect that she has a perfectly returnable bag which might be how she described it in her listing (“new in box”) and that is a flag.

Do you notice how I quoted her already in this thread to asked about this point and she ignored answering?

Why do you feel entitled to receive any response?
I’ve provided the information I wanted to provide. Your questions are irrelevant.

I find it strangely amusing how quickly the judgements are being passed.

I provided the info to help others from unwittingly doing the same like the OP was asking. I’m not interested in providing details that can enable resellers. My post wasn’t asking for any advice or trying to gain any sympathies however I can see all the pitchforks and claws are out.

Because that information helps to show information on why Hermes thinks you are a reseller, which is the topic. Thanks for proving the point by the way :)

I’m sure there are many people in this FB group, a lot of them selling bags which seems to be the point of the group. They obviously aren’t banning everyone or the group won’t exist. So what part of your behavior stood out? If you are truly interested in helping others so they don’t get banned erroneously by Hermes, isn’t sharing that information exactly what you should do? Unless you aren’t interested in actually helping anyone, of course.

From Hermes’ perspective, if they see someone who put a bag they purchased online up for sale when it’s within return window, with returnable condition, and marked up, how is that not a reseller?

I think you are trying to make a point and the topic isn't whether or not why Hermes thinks I’m a reseller. It's whether Hermes blacklists people if they think they resell.

Why should I have to even prove anything to you about what I did or didn't do? And as far as I think, I have provided enough information to help. I don't have to live by your measuring stick.

Clearly you are more interested or vested in finding out what I did which is not the point here. I am not going to indulge you either.

Thanks for continuously proving my point for me by going back on your own words.

You said it yourself, I quote, “I provided the info to help others from unwittingly doing the same”. But you have not provided enough actual info to help others, hence the questions. I don’t know if you know this, but “have I provided enough info to help you?” is better answered by the “you” instead of the “I” in question. Again, if you are getting banned and some aren’t, the helpful thing to others to avoid is...what? We don’t know, that’s what is being asked for here. But it’s ok, I think it’s pretty clear what happened now even though you refuse to acknowledge it repeatedly. So I guess you really did help!

For everyone else reading this thread actually wanting to avoid coming off as a reseller and getting banned - don’t do this: post your returnable purchase up for sale with mark up and details to trace to you.

Also I just went to reread this entire thread, the very first post is a question about “is it true that such and such kind of behavior makes H consider you a reseller”. I don’t know why you need to pretend that’s not the topic, but you do you!

Great that Hermès seems to be more on top of things and actually flagging, identifying and blacklisting resellers. Nothing to do with buyer’s remorse or selling down the line what is no longer working for you. Hoping they keep this up and do even more. Good to know they care. Enough members here that claim to be “loyal customers”, yet after showing off their “latest purchase” here, on IG or whatever they turn around to flip it. To each their one, but don’t claim to not be a reseller when you are lol. With reselling of course happening mostly in the virtual world it’s for us as well as H to see, so in the end you’re not fooling anyone. Furthermore, I do not believe clients need to be worried about wrongfully being blacklisted. This seems to me a thread for resellers warning other resellers to avoid H getting in the way of their business.

It's all super inconsistent. There is a major reseller in Poland who is well known to the store management and SAs and I was told she just buys too much for them to ban her:shocked:
That’s a choice by store management that may/should end up biting them in the a** if the regional director/Paris finds out. ;) H does not want to cater to resellers, even if it boosts your boutique’s sales.

On a separate note I do know of someone who used to buy bags but then sometimes sell her older bags to fund new purchases. She normally sold the bags on eBay. She sold bags very infrequently (maybe 3-4 bags in total over a few years) and she was 100% not a reseller and never sold the bags trying to make a profit. She didn't even purchase frequently, perhaps 2 bags each year. She received a text from her SA saying that it had come to their attention that she had been reselling bags and that they would no longer sell to her and she was essentially blacklisted. She was devastated about it and couldn't understand how they had come to that conclusion. Looking back I don't really understand how they would have found out unless they looked on eBay so perhaps these brands do have people employed to investigate eBay and other resale sites.

I 100% believe that Hermes and other brands should clamp down on people buying bags and selling them brand new straight after purchase for a profit. I don't think their should be a problem with selling used or new items a few years down the line when we have fallen out out love with them.

I’m probably naive, but it should be pretty obvious to your personal H SA whether one is a reseller, and I am someone who buying multiple colorways and iterations (for my personal use or to give to mom, aunts, cousins etc). I have bought from boutique and reseller dependng on what I’m looking for and if I want immediate gratification. For reasons of sustainability, I avoid buying if I think it might not fit into my long term collection. I don’t sell anything myself; I’d rather consign and have a professional consignor deal with the hassle. But, I’d also never buy anything for the sole purpose of flipping it for profit. Some TPFers have been buying luxury goods for years, and it would be ridiculous if they were blacklisted for essentially cleaning out their closet.

Actually, I just discussed this topic with my SA two weeks ago and he assured me of the very strict H policy when it comes to resellers (meaning people who flip brand new bags in order to make money). He also stressed that Hermès understands if after years of using someone let’s go of a bag and possibly does not want to loose money (due to eg. high commission), so adding the commission to the second hand price is understandable and tolerated.

Anyway, it is rather easy to draw the line when someone sells a bag with profit (exceeding the commission) that could easily have been returned. That said he also mentioned that, unfortunately, very often it is not easy to spot for SAs a reseller, as there are enough buyers out there that buy lots of items due to their enthusiasm for the brand (so would I probably, if money and storing space were not limited )

He told me that he was shocked when he recently found out that one of his clients was a reseller and added that clearly this customer would never ever get a bag again (I assume at least a bag that is considered difficult to find).

I think this is great news, as every person should be able to find his or her dream bag at Hermès and not be obliged to pay premium with a reseller.
