Sorry, I've been away on a photoshoot all day.
CONGRATULATIONS!! And thanks for asking my opinion :blushing: It is beeeeeautiful! And how exciting is it that you are getting an F!!! Whoo Hoo.
I also think white gold is a fine option, but thats also becasue I don't personally care for the feel of platinum. I have some white gold that yellows (to a tiny degree) and other pieces that are super white all the time with or without rhodium plating. If Tacori has a good rep for using whiter alloys, then I'm sure you'll be fine.
Now we just all have to keep our fingers crossed for Lec8504!

I'm curious about the Canada symbol. I read that Canadian diamonds should have a lazer number registery on girdle though? So I don't know how that works but the supplier is supposed to send the papers for the diamond to GOG. If it's not a true Canadian stone I'd want to find a way to remove the misleading symbol.

According to another forum, this is the response from Tacori: "To start, Gold is actually harder than platinum, and therefore somewhat less likely to bend if pressure is applied.* There are some questions about white gold “yellowing” over time;** yellow is the natural color of gold, and white gold does often require maintenance to retain the “white” look.***
However, because of Tacori’s “gold standard” our 18K white gold does not rely solely on a rhodium dip to keep our “white” gold looking white (as of June 2006).* We now use Palladium as our alloy metal, which is a naturally white and pure metal, and keeps our white gold looking white more naturally, and longer.** (and yes, there are trace elements of nickel in our 18K white gold alloy)
*So, if white gold “yellowing” over time is a concern to you, let me assure you that our Tacori white gold alloy is quite excellent.* However, even with this said, there will indeed be care required of an 18K “white” gold over the years for it to maintain the “white” look.*"

Lec - not sure if your bf would consider white gold but it may be an option for you in case your budget doesn't work out for platinum after the increase. My bf bent on the platinum when he realized that it was white gold or no setting. It's about $1k difference that you can put to diamond. I hope you can find your diamond!!

I should take a picture of all my white gold rings for comaprisson in how much they can differ. The best one I have is this tiny 2mm plain band that was from shane company oddly. That thing doesn't have even the tiniest hint of yellow. The worst was my ering wedding combo, but I saw the white gold before the reshank, and I doubt I'll have much problems with it now..it is really white this time around.
Here is an old comparrison photo I put on PS years ago:
platwg.jpg

first ring (on left) is a 80+ year old platinum ring, the next is my shane co white gold ring that never ever yellows, the third is a freshly phodium plated ring, and the fourth is the yellowest of all our white gold pieces(my husbands plain band). His diamond band also doesn't yellow ever. Honestly the Shane co ring and his diamond band do not require any care to keep them white. If I actually polish them up, they look rhodium plated all on their own.
I would retake this photo with better lighting (not yellow lights in the background..lol) but I no longer have anything platinum for comparrison.

Wow! I'm impressed with Shane co. It was actually the first store we went to look in person because it was open Christmas eve. Maybe a place to consider for our wedding bands even. All my jewelry is gold and I've never had a problem so I think I'll be okay. I really like the look of used beaten gold. It gets that matte feel, but is still sparkly.

My friend just got a white gold ring from them and was concerned of it yellowing and was disappointed it wasnt platinum. I should let her know how well made they really are. Also they replete and clean for free and replace your center stone at a discount if it's lost and you maintained the services.

Order is in! We were able to get it no problem... Eye clean and cant see anything top, side, front, back, upside down! Yay! Significantly feeling the impending squeeze on shopping and future purchases but wow! So glad the stress is over too! It's gorgeous and I can't wait to see it! I have a 1.25 true h and arrows canadian f vs1 diamond set into a tacori white gold halo setting (in avatar).... :yahoo:
YAAAAAAAAAAY!!!! Woohoo! So excited for you!

I think that depends on who the supplier/cutting company is. I have seen many canadian stones with nothing on the girdle. That maple leaf should only be legally used if it's truly a canadian mined stone. That might be a trademark of that "brand" or supplier.

I still can't believe we got it! Such a tremendous jump from what we were looking for!!! My bf and i originally were going to get a stone like this and plain band and now I have both with a high quality stone too! I talked to my dad and he even thinks it will ***** my moms ring hehe Omg! Going to be a long wait!

I also read yesterday that debeers prices went up 7%. think it's only a matter of time that everything starts jumping...

Lec - any updates? Enjoying the home?

Ugh lots of stuff to do..been mainly getting bids, setting up appointments for contractors to work their magic. We haven't even started furniture shopping really yet, he's been so busy with a huge event that's coming up so he hasn't had any chance to look at anything or help with anything. so I'm trying to hold down the fort now I guess lol. But at least finally we've schedule wood floors to be put down next week, which will take them the whole week to do. And then I'm working on scheduling someone to change the tiles in 2 of the bathrooms. And this weekend we're going to paint with his brother's help. So lots of stuff to do, add on top of that work and the ring deal, I'm basically going out of my mind lol.

But we've been trying to talk to his bank back and forth and we might still be able to get the diamond and the ring..but I don't want to get my hopes up.

Awee a house is a lot of work but hopefully you do it once and no more!

Also i was trying to find your setting and kept finding it as the 2502Rdp not the 2520? So double check before you order! I'd hate for you to get it and have it be the wrong one. I'm actually somewhat nervous about mine so had to triple triple check the number I ordered. I hope it looks as good as I hope it will. Never seen it before!

edit..we just placed it on hold...crossing fingers and toes that his bank will come through for us.

I'm having 2nd thoughts already though...the Isee2 is really good..but just the Si1 part worries me but Sarah said that she went through it with a loupe and can't find anything...so that should be ok then right? I might have to get it shipped to me before they can put it in the setting...if I get it in the end...

If you get it ship to you, will you make it for the tacori increase? I know that's it's minimal versus what the diamond increase would have done but just in case. Also what's fantastic is that they overnight it even for Saturday delivery! Sending it back will be expensive if you use anything other than USPS. I think ups quoted us $275 with insurance whole USPS registered was only $40.

Okay! Just wanted to be sure. On the first page of this thread it said 2520 and so I wanted to make sure you get what you want. That's the hard part about buying online you can't really confirm it.

It really depends on how sensitive you are to inclusions. Are all of them white? And even if it's eye-clean, is that clean enough for you? After looking at si1 stones for me, mentally the perfectionist in me kept telling myself I was settling. But that is my OCD taking over! I knew after seeing the 1.26 that as beautiful as it was, I couldn't make myself stop focusing on it and as much ad I know i never want to upgrade I think with that stone I would have. But im weird and impulsive and rash. I know you really wanted that finger coverage so to get it, if you dont mind the possibility of inclusions then why not and if you are lucky and this one is completely clean, then you are definitely lucky! Also, are you okay with the medium blue flour?

On the other hand, if you love love love it and your bf loves it then get it. Towards the end of this my bf was stalking GOG too! Haha he kept looking at the inventory and he saw the one I got but knew it was more than what we planned. Then I saw it and drooled. We both loved loved it! So we knew, even without seeing it, this was it! Go with what you can't live without! And trust yourself. Don't doubt yourself.
