NiceHubby:

How sweet of you that you want to buy a Birkin for your wife, I'm sure she will be thrilled.

I understand that you prefer to buy from the boutique, after all, the experience of a first H. bag from the boutique is priceless :D.
I just bought a new bag from the boutique myself and even though that it wasn't my first, I totally loved the experience.
And the smell of a new bag is heavenly :tender:. I could stick my head in my new bag the whole day, lol :p.

I can't help you to get a Birkin but I just want to say, don't give up.
Especially with all your contacts, keep trying and trying and who knows you might get lucky.
I'm crossing my fingers for you and I really hope you'll find one soon, good luck :flowers:.

This guy was ME...9 birkins and a just couple of years ago! Without tPF and its members who gave me encouragement, support and "tips" of where to go, Mrs. Pringles will still be without! Now the addiction has grown...to a collection!

So like you, needasugardaddy, I too want a happy end with a real fine reveal!!!!

9 Birkins ?
Is it me or did Mrs PP's collection grown since the last reveal :graucho:?

Wheter you get the bag, whether you don't succeed, you're a good husband, for what I see.
If you don't manage to get it in time, make her read this thread.
If I were your wife, I'd be happy anyway. Congratulations.

(little tip: if you can't find the bag for Christmas, buy her a whole collection of foulards 90, 70, shawls, gavroches, accessories, etc. It's wonderful and for the price of a birkin (and perhaps less) you would have done a beautiful gift that lasts forever.)

PP, you were exactly who I thought of the moment I read NiceHubby's original post of trying to find a Birkin for his wife!!!! You are the poster DH on this forum and I hope NiceHubby has luck like you did.

I really hope you've managed to find the bag you were seeking..as a wife with a 10month old, I'd been searching for a particular scarf for MONTHS..waiting patiently for it to arrive, phoning the store every so often...

Well, DH offered to buy me that scarf for my Christmas! It arrived and I've had a sneaky peek at it but won't get to try it on till Christmas day. It's not a Birkin but it'll mean the world to me as DH thinks Hermes is overpriced and a waste of money so the fact that he parted with 250 pounds on a bit of silk shows he truly loves me.

So, if you can't get one, cut out a photo of the bag you are after and make a iou card! Say you tried to get one in time but together you'll track down her dream bag. She'll love you for trying and you can have fun scouring the stores...

Good luck!

NiceHubby - I really feel for you... reading this whole thread and seeing the tumultuous journey you've been on is absolutely harrowing (and to think we're talking about a handbag!)

I can recognize that you feel like a complete outsider and are perhaps not getting the advice you came looking for, in some instances, I think your 'feelings' of being an outsider are warranted - there have not been the most supportive posts in this thread!

To everyone who has posted, imagine if you were planning a wonderful surprise for your DH's 40th, say a car, and you had absolutely no knowledge of the process and customs associated with that purchase - you'd feel like a complete outsider, wouldn't you? So perhaps, you would go to a supposedly 'supportive' environment such as a reputable and incredibly well known car forum and try and share your story - how would you expect the members of said forum to treat you??? Certainly a bit better than *some* have treated NiceHubby!

He's a newbie, wanting to do a truly wonderful thing for his wife, he needs our support and guidance, instead, he has been greeted by an almost snobbish atmosphere.

I realise that there have been some lovely posters who have offered him some very good advice, but he's not just coming here for advice - he's trying to share the journey and the frustrations he's faced. He's not only looking for guidance, he's looking for support.

I know that regardless of what happens your wife will be proud of you - on her birthday you need to show her this thread, let her know what you did and what you went through (even if you are eventually able to get the bag). She needs to know what you did for her.

I really hope you find one and I hope your wife has the best 40th ever! :hugs:

You've gotta be kidding! Everyone has been helpful in this thread. When he said he was an outsider, he was referring the world of buying a Birkin .. not this forum. (I do agree with you JCinwrppingppr. Being an outsider to this whole world I find it surprising they are so difficult to get. Post #47) I don't know what anyone could have done to be any nicer or any more helpful. Really.

You have all been great, honestly... So let's stick to the topic at hand.

I made my umpteenth trip to BH today, funny but all the SA's in the store seem to know me now. I spoke to Michael and told him that tomorrow is my last day. My plan is to get her a wallet (which she needs but is there nothing more boring than a present that you need?) and put a gift card in it for the amount of the Birkin. I was just going to do it this afternoon but he said that maybe I should come in tomorrow, it wasn't busy so...

Hopefully that is a good omen. Fingers crossed.
