I know it can be confusing with different leathers called similar names, but this thread is for Barenia Faubourg only.

For the original (smooth) Barenia please post here:

Faubourg should, in theory, age and patina like classic Barenia. Meaning, it’ll darken and get a sheen over time. I’ve noticed with the use my BF has had its subtly darker than my gold GP (which is my color change guidepost). View attachment 4002321

The image was taken the day after I got my Barenia Faubourg. So, taken 2/24/18.
@okiern1981 Sorry I'm late to the party here... would you kindly tell me how fauve / gold are different? I wasn't sure which bag in your photo was gold and which was fauve?

A surprise found today. We stopped by store for picking up today, and asked if there was any bag in Barenia, and SA took out this BF Halzan 31 in Ebene and asked me to try it. It’s smell is so strong, and the leather felt good. So taking home for Christmas. Waiting to see how it is going to age.

My understanding, feel free to anyone to correct me if I’m wrong, is that fauve is a color used for Barenia leather (smooth and Faubourg) whereas gold is a different color often used on “regular” leathers like Togo, Epsom, Swift, etc.

I think fauve has a little more reddish undertone and gold has a little more yellow undertone. Both very similar.

Thanks! If anyone knows differently please do tell :)

I’m not the OP of this pic but I believe it is barenia faubourg in ebene. My SA showed me the same bag a few weeks ago and it was luscious! She knows I am a barenia fanatic haha. I was also very excited to see that ebene barenia is making a return, but I am holding out for smooth barenia!

Thank you. It is Barenia Faubourg in Ebene. Somehow I feel this leather&color looks better in real life. :)

Yes, the smooth barenia is a must have. I was actually asking for the smooth barenia, and the SA showed me this one, so yet to cross out the barenia from wish list. :D
