What can I help with when it comes to this thread and where it should go? Typically it's fairly straight forward where a thread goes, but sometimes people have other thoughts/ideas and we always want to explore that!

The problem here was symptomatic of a deeper dissatisfaction.
I have already seen evidence of tighter, quicker and more proactive moderation and management of the forum.

Here is a photo. @TeeCee77 you were right, B35 was not as big as I thought and it would be perfect for me for everyday. DH told me since I just got the tadelakt last semester, it was too soon. It’s not like I can’t afford it, but he was really against it, esp since I’m in line for a SO and was thinking of a Kelly for hands free use. I am so sad because I had the golden goose in my hand and it’s flying away. I know, first world problems .:crybaby:
Oh no, I'm so sorry to hear that. The same thing happened to me with my DH but with the special edition scarf 90 for the Buenos Aires boutique (my local boutique). :crybaby: I know how you must be feeling as he was really against it too.

I can imagine how hard it is to turn down now but don't worry. I have a feeling BF is here to stay, yours will find you yet.

Hi again, everyone!!

Does anyone know if the BF leather texture is stamped or if it’s the natural grain of the calf?

And do you think H is gonna keep producing the BF in larger batches or keep it limited, aka rare, like the smooth barenia? Just wondering what the plans are for BF, in the long run.

Don’t know why I’m up at 6 am reading all 36 pages of this thread for answers or why I pondering these things to begin with, but I am. Perhaps it is because my B35 slept next to me on my nightstand and I’ve been smelling her in my dreams?

Crazy.

Happy Labor Day!!

okiern.. thank you for starting this thread... you ladies rock..!!!

Ok I’ve been obsessing about how to accessorize my BF and kinda stressed about the orange/red undertones of the leather because it’s so unfamiliar to me (always a black bag kinda gal). UNTIL NOW!! I think your orange rodeo and twillies are the PERFECT solution/combination. It really celebrates the unique color and skin tone of the leather which for some reason had me so stumped. Siiigh. To think I’m usually pretty darn good with color!! Thank you for the inspiration!!

Don’t forget - those yellow/orange/red undertones will begin to go more to the brown side as your bag develops patina. Don’t fret too much. I was SUPER freaked that mine was too orange to possibly work with, but I trusted the process and have found over time (a few months) that this bag just goes with everything! I love greens, yellows, and blues with mine. I even have black twillies that look great. Just do some experimenting!!

Barenia Faubourg is unstamped, natural grained leather, treated the same way as original heritage Barenia and Barenia Croc. So it actually refers to the process of tanning, with a very long soaking in lanolin oils to produce that distinctive scent. I have asked all my leather SAs and this is what we know at present. No one knows how it will age in the long run and whether it will become a classic leather offering.

Interesting... so the smooth barenia is somehow treated and/or stretched to be perfectly smooth? Or maybe it’s that’s different leather type all together?

I’m both excited and concerned about being one of the front runners of BF ownership... as it is my first B and all!

Starting to wonder if it was so “easy” for me to score this B because it was hard to unload on more cautious shoppers...? :O

Smooth Barenia is calfskin. I think it's already very smooth and doesn't need to be stretched but I have never asked my SAs about my bags and I won't comment on the other points either. I can say it is much easier to accept grained Barenia as an option for those to cannot bear the scratches which come with the Heritage version. I believe this is why it was created. You get more "resilience" as such, with the scent of Barenia, while it lasts.

Oh please do not think this way! Barenia (regular or BF) likely has a smaller pool of interested customers because of patina and scratching (regular Barenia) it isn’t for everyone. Also, BF is brand new! People probably don’t know to ask for it. Another thing to consider is that your bag is 35. My SA said 35 is easier to get right now because of the little bag trend. What matters is if it was perfect for you and not whether it is hard to get or whether someone else wants it too. I am confident it wasn’t “unloading” but rather your SA thinking it was something you may like and you did. Call me crazy, but I love B35 and hearing that they are easier to get is a good thing for me! You have something special that people are learning about together. Enjoy it and do not worry whether you should have had to work harder for it!
