I used to go to NR quite often but don't enjoy it much anymore...the few times I've gone in recently I didn't find anything
I have the same experience like yours, NR used to be great before 2019 then become hard to find great deals, then right after pandemic there was nothing, not only nothing but items were very low quality. I used to shop at Rack 2 - 3 times a week when they were great, since thing changed there, I only went there few times a year, last year I only bought like 3, 4 items.

My godness jeans! what kind of jeans are you buying? I don't see right now I could sell them for the effort worth for, I have like 50 pairs just jeans alone, I'm going to hold onto them, also I'm not buying any more jeans.
@sdkitty and @onlyk I don’t wear jeans anymore, and had about 60 pairs of designer jeans using up a closet. I discovered the site thread-up in another thread in this forum, which seems similar to an online consignment store, but without having to leave the house to bring them in. I ordered 2 shipping labels and put them all in 2 big boxes (I think there is a limit of 35 pounds or so per box). Some did not sell and I will just have them donated, some sold and ranged from $4-18 for my share after fees. It’s fine with me, I just wanted them out of the house.

To answer the original question from @sdkitty , I would never list jeans online at the market rate because it would not be worth my time to take all of the measurements, which is very difficult with pants, take photos, which is also very difficult with pants (they don’t fit in the camera frame well unless you are really far away), and then answer questions about sizing since fit is so difficult. The one time I sold things like this I just did a bundle of 10 items that were a few hundred dollars each and sold it for $35 total. So if I was going to list jeans individually I would put them at such a low price that I would not have to answer any questions or provide measurements, so I would not rule out the jeans listings that you saw just because of a low price. Of course there are also bad sellers out there, so I hope it works out with a pair you went with.

thanks
with my DH's vintage Levis I sold one on ebay for over $100, another pair for around $25....the third pair I listed didn't get any bids so I brought them and the rest of the ones I had to the Goodwill.
I did buy the J Brand jeans from Mercari. Should be getting them maybe by the end of the week. It's a bit of a risk to buy jeans without trying on but the measurements and fabric content seem right and she said they were like-new. They will have to be shortened. Hope they work. If not, I won't have lost much money.

Were the vintage Levi's 501s? I think I've been donating my husband's old Levi's. I've sold jeans that were my daughter's - brands like Hollister and American Eagle. They aren't selling now but a few years ago I got close to the prices they sold on sale at the stores.

the ones that brought the good price were 501s...we had some 505s but they didn't sell
If you have any with selvedge edge, those are the best
Someone got over $300 for a pair. there was a bidding war. those were a large size and apparently the big sizes are hard to find

I had accumulated lots of nice clothings in the years past, haven't been able to list them to sell in the last several years because busy with other stuff, but I am going to hold onto them for now because the ones I bought are super nice quality, nowadays hard to find as good quality clothings or have to pay more or have to spend more time looking, not just everyday clothings, also dresses such as DVF silk dresses, Tadashi evening / cocktail dresses etc, I justifying by not shopping for clothing much, my plan is list them later on or donate when I'm ready.

It seems like it was worth it to to give them a try for that price. I hope they fit.

I've been very good about not buying much clothing this year as I have plenty. I have listed for sale things I found in my closet that still had tags as I'd feel like I cheated myself to donate them. I've sold some but others aren't moving at all.

As far as purchasing new clothes, there is a coat that is tempting me because of the color. I don't need it but I want it.

we have virtually no use for coats here except for my leather jacket and a raincoat - or for travel possibly
If you really want that coat, you should probably get it (as long as you will get use out of it - one of my regrets is a green suede coat which I hardly wore)

No, I wouldn't be wary.

There can be a number of reasons for what you're seeing.
  • Seller may have gotten a bargain at a thrift store and is just passing along some savings
  • Seller may be completely ignorant of the value and retail price.
  • Seller may know the value but doesn't want to sit and list the items for years waiting for the right buyer.
  • The size may be a very petite (or very large) size, one that can be harder to sell than "average" sizes.
I decide whether to buy based on my knowledge (or the authenticators' knowledge) of the brand, whether it will fit and whether it's worth the price to me. If I'm shopping for a unicorn and finally find it, I'm willing to spend more than it's worth just to get what I've been looking for. But if it's an item that I really don't need but would be nice to have, I'm less willing to spend more than I think it's worth to me.
I bought the low priced jeans. they are in excellent condition as described. she said they were straight and they're skinny. I suspect she never wore them. Probably an honest mistake

TBH, I don't know the difference between "straight leg" and "skinny" and I suspect many sellers don't know either.
if they were from her "personal closet" I would think putting them on it would be obvious they were skinny. they're tight all the way from the thigh to ankle. but she has some different sized clothing so maybe some or all of it came from some other sources.
anyway, if I were to try to return them, I would probably just get the price of the jeans refunded and not the price I paid for shipping, right?
