No, I wouldn't be wary.

There can be a number of reasons for what you're seeing.
  • Seller may have gotten a bargain at a thrift store and is just passing along some savings
  • Seller may be completely ignorant of the value and retail price.
  • Seller may know the value but doesn't want to sit and list the items for years waiting for the right buyer.
  • The size may be a very petite (or very large) size, one that can be harder to sell than "average" sizes.
I decide whether to buy based on my knowledge (or the authenticators' knowledge) of the brand, whether it will fit and whether it's worth the price to me. If I'm shopping for a unicorn and finally find it, I'm willing to spend more than it's worth just to get what I've been looking for. But if it's an item that I really don't need but would be nice to have, I'm less willing to spend more than I think it's worth to me.
thank you
she hasn't answered my question....if I can't determine the style or get measurements, I won't buy them
Even at a low price, I don't want to throw money away

Does anybody have experience with requesting a return for an item that underwent authentication? I bought a fine jewelry ring from a highly rated seller who accepts returns. The ring did not fit me well, and the day after I received it, I opened a return request and have been in touch with the seller. Ebay says the case is on hold and they are reviewing my return request. Seller said they contacted eBay and I will be receiving a return label. I'm unclear on next steps, because at one point over the weekend, the details under my return request said that I would need to send the item back to authentication to ensure it matches their original assessment. I was supposed to get an update by today, October 16, but no news yet. I really want to get this taken care of ASAP, so if you have experience with the timeline for returns that involve re-authentication, please share.

So far, it has been 3 days since I opened the return request.

I don't have experience but I understand how it works.

When a seller has a a return policy, you can return for any reason (or for no reason) so in your case, the seller probably has their account automated to automatically accept the return.

Depending on whether the seller's return policy is "free returns" (meaning seller pays return shipping) or buyer pays return shipping, it's usually the seller who sends the return label through the order. The system knows whether to charge the buyer or the seller for the label. (Shipping isn't charged to either party until the label is used and item is scanned as shipped.)

It is correct that authenticated items do go back to the authenticator in order for them to verify that a switch didn't happen and that the item is in the same condition as it was when verified. (There have been cases of switcheroos, so the return to the authenticator is a good thing!)

After they pass it, they forward it to the seller. Once the seller receives it, they issue the refund in accordance with their return policy.

This is very helpful! I hope to get an update soon about the label. The seller and I are in touch as of yesterday and I said I’d wait for info on what to do next. They accept returns till early November for this item so I’m hoping this can be wrapped up soon.

Replying to myself to say: this has worked out. Customer service wrote to me today with a shipping label to get the item back to authentication, and from there it should go back to the seller. It was a little nerve-wracking to wait, but the process was just as you said, @BeenBurned

So after making offers on two pair of jeans on Posh which weren't accepted, I pulled the trigger on the Mercari ones (she did answer my questions to the best of her ability). She shipped same day. Fingers crossed that they will fit. Thanks for the advice.

My godness jeans! what kind of jeans are you buying? I don't see right now I could sell them for the effort worth for, I have like 50 pairs just jeans alone, I'm going to hold onto them, also I'm not buying any more jeans.

I sold a pair of my DH's old Levis on ebay for around $100. they were the selvedge ones. the other ones of his I tried to sell I ended up donating
The jeans I bought yesterday are J Brand. I have a pair that's a favorite and the whole brand is discontinued....so I was trying to get a backup for the ones I have in a different wash

I took about 30 pair of jeans to a local consignment store. I couldn't be bothered to list them one by one anywhere
