I don't buy that much on EBAY and have never had a problem in the past. I placed an order and the item was shipped with tracking info that same day. After a few days I received an email that the item was delivered to my mail box. However, when I went to the mail box the package was not there, I've been checking my mail every day and I still don't have the item. I contacted EBAY Wednesday to let them know that I didn't receive the item. They contacted the seller who responded with the tracking info and I got a response from EBAY that the tracking shows the item was left in my mail box. I'm old and a moron and don't know what I should do next. I couldn't find anything on my EBAY page. How do I contact EBAY to let them know that I still haven't received the package so I can get a refund? Should I contact Paypal or my CC or wait?

I would appreciate any help :panic:

Call your local post office. Ask them to check the tracking. They can tell exactly where the package was delivered. It was probably given to one of your neighbors. Sometimes they can retrieve it. If they can't you don't really have any recourse. As long as tracking shows it was delivered, you won't win a non-receipt claim.

Thanks whateve. We live in a gated community with no mail box in front of our house, there is a locked mail box on each street so we have to use a key to our box to get the mail, it isn't delivered so the carrier probably put it in the wrong box and scanned it as delivered.

Forgot to mention that I understand this is not the sellers fault but it isn't my fault either. The package was $200 no signature required so EBAY needs to step in and refund me not the seller. If they chose to have a policy that allows items up to $750 without signature requirements then why should the buyer be punished?

Is the seller an established (reputable) seller?

Although the package may have been mis-delivered and may show up, there are also many cases of what are referred to as fake tracking scams.

in those cases, sellers find a random address in the same zip code as you live and send a small worthless trinket. Then when buyers open INR and tracking shows delivery, seller wins claim.

Before taking the next step, check with your local p.o. and have them check the GPS delivery location and see if it was a simple mistake rather than a scamming seller.

Hi BeenBurned: I have ordered from this seller in the past so she isn't a scammer.

So any buyer that doesn't receive the item even though it scanned as delivered without a signature is out the money? Is there any recourse? This is worrisome, EBAY doesn't require a signature up to $750.00 so a buyer could be out several hundred dollars. Has this happened to anyone else? In my case this is obviously the fault of USPS but they won't be of any help or admit they put the package in the wrong box.

You can check with your local p.o. and they might be able to check GPS for the delivery location. Their system shows more than we see when we check tracking and they also have access to the shipping label and can see how it was addressed.

If you go to the USPS website and search post offices in your own zip code, you can get the direct phone number (as opposed to the 800 number) and call directly.

These are locked mail boxes on our street they are all together so GPS wouldn't help. Mail is not delivered to my house. in over 20 years on EBAY this hasn't happened to me. Thanks BeenBurned.

But they could check with the carrier. It's possible s/he remembers the item and might know if or where it was delivered.

Wasn't there some talk that empty LV boxes or perhaps other luxury brand empty boxes were not permitted to be sold on Ebay? I am not clear why this was the case but thought there was some prohibition on this. It does not appear the case any longer. Tons of listings.

That was the case years ago. I don't know when they changed the policy but they are allowed now and have been allowed for several years.

Can we rant on this new thread (not if, feel free to delete)?

I rarely use eBay but had some unwanted items laying around. I listed an item for $32 (shipping included). A member messages me asking if I could give him a $30 discount. This item is on the heavier side (the member knows this) and costs anywhere between $10-15 to ship. So I would be taking a $20ish loss so this person can have the item? THE AUDACITY IS UNBELIEVABLE.
