Does anyone use Poshmark?

Of the 7 items I have purchased on Poshmark, 5 had to be returned for gross misrepresentation of condition. Shirts that were altered, sweaters with enormous holes and pulls, massively stretched out bracelets that were strategically photographed to hide that fact, etc. I have always had my money refunded, but it has turned me off to the website.

I have made thousands of purchases on eBay since I became a member in 1998 and have had maybe 10 dud transactions in that time.

Poshmark seems to attract a different type of seller than eBay. The asking prices on PM are usually beyond ridiculous. I have seen many things in stores right now that are a fraction of the price asked on PM. Why would I pay a seller $87 +$7.95 shipping when I can buy the exact same thing in a store today on clearance for $12? I bet the seller bought it for $12 and just decided to throw a price against the wall to see if there are takers. Sellers do not even attempt to mirror prices of previous sales on the site. If an item has sold a few times for $20, what makes a seller think $95 is a winning strike price? Just throw a crazy high price out there and hope a sucker comes along to buy it. And it will sit there for years unsold. Perhaps PM needs to charge sellers to list—whether they sell the item or not. Maybe it will motivate them to price to sell.

I much prefer eBay for price, ease of use, non-flaky sellers and customer service that includes a phone number to call in case I need to speak to someone.
Poshmark has a bit better protection for buyers and sellers from my experiences, my guess is you have not encounter scammers , that's quite lucky or you haven't shopped as frequently as some buyers or the type of items you buy may not attract as many scammers.

I sell on both Posh and ebay. As a seller, I much prefer Posh. On ebay if someone returns, I lose my shipping money both ways. On Posh, I don't lose anything. Posh buyers are less likely to try to force a return than ebay buyers, as ebay buyers know ebay will always side with them. With ebay, someone could open a return request weeks after getting their item; on Posh, after 3 days, I know the sale is final and there aren't going to be any nasty surprises at some point in the future.

I purposely price my items higher on Posh because I know Posh buyers are going to make low offers. I bet that is what other sellers do as well.

For clothing, I sell almost exclusively on Posh because of the shipping cost. Most of my clothing items aren't expensive. Posh's shipping label is relatively cheap and allows people to bundle and only pay one low shipping price.

I'm surprised you had such bad luck with your Poshmark purchases. Have you looked at the sellers' love notes before purchasing? I guess you can't see anything negative but if you see a lot of positives, that should reassure you.

The free return shipping for a seller on PM does not provide much incentive for the seller to make sure the description in the listing matches reality. Buyers return because the item does not match the description and, as such, the seller should be financially penalized for misrepresenting the item for sale. It is a waste of time and effort for a buyer to file a claim and return a defective item. It simply should not happen, but, in my experience, it happens a lot on PM.

With regard to the high pricing on PM, sellers turn off a lot of potential buyers who do not want to have to “lowball” an offer down to a realistic and competitive price. I simply pass the listing by.

I just saw a necklace on PM. I bought the exact same necklace recently. I paid $30 on eBay. It is listed for sale for $275 on PM. LOL. Dream on! It retailed for $100 new and it would sell for nothing like that today. $30 was a fair price, but I won’t “lowball” an offer because, clearly, the seller is completely delusional about its value. It will sit on PM at $275 for years. I have seen that scenario over and over again. Do sellers not look at what similar items have actually sold for on other platforms? Time for a reality check.

I have bought very expensive items (fine jewelry and fine rugs) on eBay without hesitation or disappointment. No way would I buy anything over $50 on PM given my experience.

There are always good seller and bad seller, good buyer and bad buyer, price isn't everything, there are difference in authenticity, condition, whether the seller bought first hand from the store or got as a gift or bought a a very cheap price then resell, or doesn't know the value of the item, I agree with you some sellers wasted buyer's time and money, but there are many are honest sellers.

It's not black or white, everywhere is the same even if you buy from stores, we being buyers just have to be careful. ebay is a lot scary to me than Poshmark.

As I said before if you have shopped over several hundreds times through the years and have not encountered one scam, I would say you are extremely lucky or could be the type of items you buy don't attract scammers.

PM Customer Service is the worst! I have not been receiving any email alerts for the past 4 days. I have 3 new sales and I didn't even realize until 2 days ago. I don't log into PM every single day, since I travel. I always depended on my email alerts. i have emailed their Customer service 4 times and someone finally got back to me a day ago. They said they can see I've signed up for alerts and should be getting the emails. They are so stupid. Of course I've signed up for alerts. I know that!!! That issue is I'm not getting email notificiations. Has anyone else had this issue and how did you fix it?

I don't have this issue but I mentioned their servers acted strangely last week (slow for me, and not all likes showing if I click on likes, but they show if I scroll through all the feed).
Yes, I noticed their servers were acting up last week too. I did not have any issues last week with my email notifications. It just started on Sunday. I wish they could fix it.

They finally figured out the issue on why I was not getting emails. It all happened when PM updated their website. It's fixed now, but I have another issue today. I have been selling for almost 2 years now and now that I sold over a certain limit they wanted my personal info( must be for taxes) I tried to update it on the app. I put in DOB, address, phone number) but had an error because I was going too fast. I tried to go back in to update it, but I can't. I emailed Customer Support to send me a new link. Now I can't ship the item I sold this morning. Has anyone else had to add all of their personal info when they sell a certain amount? Should I just ignore the buyer? I normally message my buyer when someone purchases my item and let them know when I will ship. If they don't fix this I will not ship this $400 item, becuase I won't get paid!!! I have perfect feedback too.

Oh no. I just read a lot of PM sellers are being hacked. I hope I wasn't hacked when I put in my personal info. I received the alert when to add my personal info when I went into my PM account. Has anyone else heard of this?
