Yes I always get a receipt too. I had pressed on the key to print the receipt, which I always do. While the receipt is printing I will walk over to the mail box pull down and put the package in the mail box. This time the printer didn't work. Going forward I will wait until the receipt is printed before I put the package in the mail box.

I never get a receipt. I never go to the post office. My packages are picked up by my carrier. I haven't been to my post office lately so I don't know if they added a kiosk but in the past they refused to scan anything that already had postage because they didn't want to hold up the line with people who weren't buying anything.
In over 10 years of selling, I've had one package that never got scanned (it was on Tradesy and they paid me anyway), I've had one in which they failed to get the signature on delivery (but the buyer didn't complain), one when the buyer claimed they didn't get it but it was scanned as delivered so I got paid, and one that was lost before delivery so I had to file an insurance claim (it was eventually delivered so the buyer got it for free).
One time many years ago, someone claimed I only sent them one pair of jeans instead of the four I sent, but the package weight proved I had sent four. She didn't actually open a claim - she discovered her sister had opened the package and stolen the other pairs.
