Does anyone feel like VCA is everywhere now?

I come to the VCA forum to refine my decision each time that I'm about to buy more pieces. I love Alhambra, but I'm afraid that I'll get tired of it due to being seen almost everywhere. I got tired of Chanel bags because of that. I still have several bags, but I don't feel excited to buy more. It seems that everyone is wearing a Chanel bag theses days.

I hardly see any vca here in the mid-Atlantic. People seem to wear no jewelry or a couple pieces of estate jewelry. I live in an area of very understated or quiet luxury. As others have said I see vca mostly on social media whether on ig or fb groups. It doesn’t change my mind of wanting to buy more, but it does make me think about how I want to style what I have and what I want to buy. There are some influencers who just do too much - clover, full pave love, juc, multiple vintage and a serpenti - all on one arm. It looks like some Wonder Woman cuff. Sure people can do what they want, but
I think it shows a lack of sense of style and self awareness (esp when robberies are up and we’re headed to recession) and it’s usually people who are seeking attention/validation. I think vca looks most alluring and beautiful when it’s just by itself or with a couple other items.

I understand that, I really do, most particularly when the person just seems to be copying what theyre seeing on other people and putting no personality/individuality into it.

On the other hand, they could just be “being themselves”. My personal style is that I want to be the same unicorn princess as I did when I was 10 years old; that’s just who I am, in addition to coming from a family/culture where many of the women didn’t live too long (either due to genetically poor health or being murdered for their religion). I try to enjoy today, because today is all that we truly have. I understand that I am probably judged for my style on a daily basis, but I wont be afraid or change who I am because of that (while not being too foolhardy, either, ofc).

I love how you style things (even follow you on ig) and of course people should style things how they want. My comment is for those who just pile on items in excess as a means of flexing/validation. These are the same people who show a new luxury purchase almost every week. I think there is a distinction with these so called influencers who just share to flex and have no thought process on style and just buy whatever everyone else is buying versus those who just want to enjoy life. These people very often appear to seek validation for whatever reason.

I know life is short. I’ve lost multiple family members during this pandemic.
I buy what I want and wear what I want of course keeping safety in mind and my minimalist style preferences.

The style you come up with is inspiring and you really rock your own style. You really know how to style the colour black.

HUGS!!!!! :hugs: Thank you for understanding me, and I agree with you 10000%!!

I see VCA all over Manhattan. There are some restaurants and blocks (surrounding Hermes Madison on the UES) where people run around in VCA alhambra/Hermes BKC/chanel boucle jacket RTW). i think that another member referred to it as an UES uniform.

There are a lot of fake or dupe clovers. I know very wealthy people who do not have an issue with a dupe (especially bc VCA did not succeed in protecting its alhambra rights); in fact, they probably think I’m a spendthrift for buying my six motif necklace at VCA). These designs can be replicated with a 3D scanner and CAD computer generated design. This is why I would caution anyone who wants real VCA alhambra to purchase only from the boutique. I hate to read frantic and worried posts re an alhambra reseller purchase that wasn’t authentic simply to save a relatively small amount. Paperwork like a COA is Not a guarantee bc it can be forged.

@Notorious Pink, I adore your style and think it’s uniquely you! :drinks:

In the city where I live, even Hermes is everywhere. You see them in public transport, you can even see people carrying big Hermes shopping bag with the original box fresh out of the boutique and walking in public housing district. High-end accessories are not status symbols anymore while high-end vehicles or yachts, private jets might still be status symbols. Probably in near future, being able to travel to outer space is status symbols while normal travel on earth is like just another day on Earth.

So buy what you like most and not worry about anything.

+1 well said @Notorious Pink there are different kinds of people with differing styles and motivations to buy what they do, wear what they wear and live the life they choose to. I can only speak for myself that there was a time where I ‘collected’ things to be worn or used only for ‘special occasions’. A few years back, after a life-changing experience, it dawned on me that being alive each day is that ‘special’ occasion and the hoarder in me was jarred into taking action. I de-cluttered all my material possessions and life and now only own things that I use each and everyday. I don’t wait for ‘special’ days to occur. I choose to make each day special for me and my loved ones. So no more dishes that will be taken out only when I am giving parties or have guests over. All my valuable and material things get used everyday. I choose to wear all my bling when I choose to. Am I cautious when I wear my things out? Of course, I don’t want to live in la-la land. I am aware crime rates are increasing and as much as I would like to believe in the goodness of people, there are always outliers who will jolt your belief in humankind. So, yes I am careful but I won’t stop wearing what I love or doing what gives me joy. Nor will I change my style to conform to any one’s rules of what is appropriate or not. That’s others perceptual problem not mine to correct on how they perceive others and the world around them. It’s something I often remind myself when I want to pass judgement on anyone. Keeps it real for me:biggrin:

Lol I am now wondering what is the UWS uniform… ;) Very rare to see the UES uniform on my side of the park.
