Why does most bags in Japan not have the hallmark (referring to your email to me)?? I thought all Chanels should be equal/same?
Hi Sarah. I just posted some of my Vintage Chanel belt bags on the Chanel Post pictures of your vintage items. My bags there are not exactly the same model as yours but very close.
I have a vintage 4-series double-faced flap ("jumbo" dimensions). This is what I was able to catch with the magnifier.
Through a jeweler's loupe I can make out the letters "St. L" on either side of what appears to a stick figure but a little more complex. Can anyone see it?
Most likely these are goldsmiths' marks and not specific to Chanel -- but surely Chanel uses the same goldplating clients for all their hardware.

I'd imagine they don't. The company has been going for such a long time. They have produced thousands of lines. I've noticed that all the hardware changes over time. I have a large vintage collection so I can look at the details of bags spanning 30 years or so.
It's a nice shot, but try rephotographing using macro, go out to around 40 centmeters then zoom using standard macro (not supermacro). I also use a macro lens attachment. It makes photos much clearer. The macro function takes some fiddling, but you can get amazing shots when you get it right.

thank u so much for all the helpful info...really appreciate! btw, i just came back from bangkok yesterday, i accidently spotted a super grade aaa vintage XL jumbo chanel at platunum, bangkok(a well known wholesale market place in bkk) selling at usd80..and the bag has the tiny square shape on the right CC logo and the condition is super great and 80% look like real, i can't tell the bag is fake if i don't check the bag carefully..so dear member, if u really wanna bid the chanel bag from ebay, pls think twice..i was lucky that i didnt bid on it..btw, still need help from chanel vintage expert to identify the bag as i really interested to get the bag.many thanks

Your comment is exactly why people should post their intended ebay postages to the authenticate this chanel link here in the purse forum. It takes a lot of knowledge to spot a real chanel. You can guarantee a Chanel for a final selling price of $80 is a fake.
Series 2 Caviar Cream Waist bag Bottom right. Another new hallmark for me. Very hard to photograph. Found an identically marked bag with no serial number which I will post next
