Do you ever wish for a particular bag because a celebrity has it? Be honest now!

I am wondering if I am the only one with this temptation - to get a certain bag because some celebrity has it. In my case, its a blue jean birkin. I put it completely out of my mind and then, wham, I see some actress photographed with it. Seriously, my life couldnt be more different, from, say, Lindsey Lohan or Victoria Beckham. (I am middle aged and work on Wall Street - the only drug in my birkin bag is Advil - the only tatoos I have are the wash-off kind that you get at the South Street Seaport). Please tell me that I am not by myself.

Of course, the fact that I am tempted doesnt mean that I give in. At least not yet.

While it is embarrassing to admit that I would actually be influenced by the fact that, uh, Lindsay Lohan has a blue jean birkin, I dont think there is anything wrong with that fact, necessarily. After all, she (and other celebs who are bj birkin bearers) obviously has a great stylist.
How lame is this - I used to love Newlyweds with Nick and Jessica. I wanted a MC White Speedy the first time I saw it on the show (not because Jessica Simpson was carrying it), and I had to have one. I guess we don't always want a bag because a celebrity has one, it is because they introduce it to us through photos.

HECK YEAH>.. When I saw TINY in the TREVI ( that wasnt out in stores yet).. I HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAD TO HAVE IT!

Don't think so...I think espanv said it right...celebs' role is only introducing a bag through photos...and the rest is totally our decision to go for the bag or to just simply ignore it...

I first saw the chloé paddington bag on Mischa Barton about 3 years ago....it was  at first sight...But it took me about half a year 'til I finally got my Paddi, because it was sold out everywhere.

I think that with all other designers I find my own style and do not follow trends of the celebrities but with Hermes Victoria Beckham definitely inspired me to get one and now that I have I love Hermes bags, I love how the birkin bags have their closures, you can carry them like a tote or just put the flap over to cover the bag or fully close it with all the straps clasps. It is a truly Fabulous Handbag and this one I would have to Thank Victoria for getting me into Hermes but otherwise I do not follow any celebrity trends with handbags at all. I see what I like from my SA or from a magazine.

Sometimes I see models with bags which gets me interested in them....for example the Dior Gaucho Tote Gisele had around 2006 and the Dior bag Coco and Alessandra are carrying at the moment, whatever it's called!

I think some of it, at least for me, is the attraction of a life that seems* more frivolous and irresponsible - like the guys on "Entourage" - they wander around all day doing stupid stuff and yet everything somehow magically works out for them (yes, I know, its HBO, its not real). I am not complaining mind you - my life is certainly full of excitement and happiness, but it lacks a certain - uh - frivolity. I suppose there is a balance here - if I got a blue jean birkin, it would add some lightheartedness to my somewhat "serious" life

* I say "seems" because obviously - Kate Moss, Lindsay Lohan, Victoria Beckham - they all have responsiblities - they all work - they have family responsibilities, including for Moss and Beckham, motherhood. I dont know any of these women and I am not saying their lives are carefree, I am just talking about [the illusion of] what the photographs of them evoke.

Well said. I agree with this completely.

When I see a celebrity with a particular bag it does catch my interest. Now, I do have to love the bag, and like it on me for me to even consider purchasing it for myself (and of course, it being within a reasonable price).

And the good thing about seeing pictures of celebrities carrying certain bags is that it serves as really good reference. If shopping online I like to find pics so I can get a better look at the bag on someone. I just hate relying on size measurements.

I tend to be more interested in bags when I see them on TPF members than on celebrities. I guess it's because I can better visualize them on myself that way. Just because it looks good on Jessica Alba doesn't mean it'll look good on me.

That said, I still think off and on about the LV white MC Speedy that Jessica made so famous. I'll NEVER buy it (would never pay the money and wouldn't wear it in public anyway), but I still like the way it looks. *sigh*
