Strangely that is how I ended up on this forum - 'strangely' because the celebrity was Jessica Alba - a person who I knew absolutely nothing about. I read her glowing opinion of her Burberry Beaton Shopper in Black Patent.. and.. I.. want.. it... still.. Something about what she said about how awesome the bag was - as well as the photo - made me realize that my life would not be complete without that bag.

Yes, definately. I'm still dying over the Rebecca Minkoff Matinee in Wine (darn you Vanessa Hudgens)
I don't neccessarily want it because Vanessa has it, but she's definately the reason how I realized it even existed!

I first noticed Balenciaga because Nicole Richie had it, and then Lindsay Lohan, Nicky Hilton, and everyone else in Hollywood! I like it because its not covered in logos, and the leather and colors are TDF! I didn't ONLY want a bbag because they had them, but they're the reason why I saw them in the first place!

i agree with what people have been saying so far. i think most of us don't want a bag because a certain celebrity has it but that we might not have known of its existence had we maybe not seen a photograph of a celeb wearing it. i don't think it has much to do with the celebrity.

ITA, sunnibunni. I fell in :heart: with Balenciaga when I saw Nicole Ritchie carrying her Black City in a magazine & I was hooked on the bag itself and not because she was carrying it.

i first saw the celine boogie (when it was hype) on Madonne and Gwyneth Paltrow and for some reason it stuck with me. I like that it isn't a major hype now and I just love this bag, although there are only a few that do.

Honestly -- sometimes, but not because of the particular celebrity using the bag. If the bag looks nice and would suit my needs then I will get it irregardless of who was seen using it in whatever magazine. It does help my decision making process if I see what the bag looks like when worn by someone else.

Not because of a celebrity wearing it, but as someone else mentioned, celebrities wearing them puts the bags in the public eye so much more than ever.

That's why I got my first Birkin. About 3 years ago, I watched "The Comeback" on HBO w/Lisa Kudrow and she carried an orange 40mm and I FELL IN LOVE immediately with this bag! :heart: Not so much with the color, but the style was just amazing! It was perfect! :yahoo:

It's not so much that I want a bag because a celebrity has it as much as it's because the bag looks DIFFERENT when someone's carrying it than when it's on display all stuffed with paper or other crap. I never would have considered my humongous LV XXL Mahina if I had just seen the bag on display. It was like a gargantuan balloon, I couldn't fit the balloon under my arm and I envisioned being incapable of passing through doorways :) I only knew it was slouchy and easy to carry when I saw photos of different celebs carrying it and it's my everyday bag now. I'm just as likely to admire a bag that a stranger is carrying, only to find out that I've seen the bag before and just didn't realize it because it wasn't displayed in a way that it would "naturally" look when carried. A lot of hobos and slouchy bags are like that and I tend to like slouchy bags above all other kinds.

I agree! VB nearly put me off the Birkins when she carried them with pink cowboy boots and giant hair extensions. Sometimes it is just helpful to see something being carried/worn in a photo which can give you ideas. I don't think I actively think of getting something because someone famous has it, I'm just influenced generally by what I see online/in shops/on people...

Recently i fell in love with a grey Chanel camera bag (crackled age leather) that Lily Allen had, i just couldn't stop thinking about it!!!! ( had to sell a few Balenciaga handbags for it thought!! LOL

I have to say..not really. But I do get introduced to brands and lines through celebrities. i mean, we see them everyday. So if someone was carrying something that looked cool to me, I would probably google it in to see what it was about.
