Well, I'm torn on the celebrities carrying Gerard Darel thing. On one hand, celebrity popularity may provide the impetus for more U.S. retailers to carry them. On the other hand, celebrity popularity seems to be causing the prices to rise despite lack of availability.

Okay. i confessed. I got my chloe tracy, chanel 2.55 cause i saw mischa barton having it. Haha. Im so in love with the choice of bag she has, esp the Chanel Ligne bowler!!!!

For the chanel classic flap, me too saw Micha Barton carrying it and falls heels over it but also TPF members who posted pictures with their flaps were also a huge influence for me to get it.

No because then they get too popular and everyone refers to them as the "so and so" bag. I remember I loved the LV MC Speedies, then Jessica Simpson carried hers all over on "Newlyweds." From then on, it was the "Jessica Simpson bag." It drove me NUTS. Same with Angelina and her LV Cabas Mezzo...I was in LV one time and someone asked for "the bag that Angelina has been carrying."

I think seeing a great bag on a celebrity in the mags etc get the bag NOTICED.

Celebrities have certainly influenced my taste in bags - but also been a turn off too. Too see someone you don't like carrying a bag that you do like can be a bit off putting!

No never. Usually it turns me off the bag. It's good using it for height referencs size reference and so on though.

Although it might sound like I'm influenced by celebs, I'm actually MORE influenced by the bags themselves. The first time I saw a Balenciaga City was on the arms of some bargain-basement celebs. I think they were British footballers' wives and girlfriends. But whenever I saw a Motobag I kept being drawn to the tassles and colours and wondering where I could get one. It was a couple of years before I found out what the bag was called and actually got one.
