Do you ever wish for a particular bag because a celebrity has it? Be honest now!

This isn't a celebrity blog- it's a purse blog. Commenting on one's character is tres different than commenting on a bag. A yes, I love it, or, a no, I hate it will suffice. What do you say when you see a bag on a member and don't like it? You keep it to yourself! It should be the same protocol. For all we know, VB could be on these forums.

I totally agree.

It's not a 'celebrity ' thread... is a thread asking if we are influenced to buy bags celebrities carry. My assumption, since this is the Hermes forum, is that it pertains specifically to Hermes bags carried by celebrities.

If someone wants to vent about a celebrity and their style and whatnot - so what? Honestly, if seeing this changes your opinion of the poster - so be it.

I don't think anyone is trying to anger anyone else, they were just trying to explain (perhaps in extreme emphatic detail) why they don't like a particular celebrity and how this perception of said celebrity makes anything the celebrity touches seem or feel tainted to them.

well, those who are fans are doing VB proud with their support, but i don't like it coming at the expense of others' free expression. if anyone can freely flatter a celebrity, i don't see why someone cannot express equally strong feelings to the contrary. it may be hard to imagine when you see someone in a positive light, but for others, that same person might be exactly what has been expressed here, a negative visual in association with the unanimously adored hermes bags.
in the end, we really do agree on that. katel i think waxed very nicely on the main reason we're here (you nearly made me drool, lol). and some of us thrill at having a bag that is associated with a celeb, and some don't, and that's what this thread is asking.
also, understand the depth of feelings that are in place if you consider someone who puts themselves out there to be a negative role model. celebrities put themselves in the spotlight, to be seen and judged, it's just part of the territory of fame and they almost universally consider any attention better than no attention.

Bit harsh to call some one an anorexic twit though? Anorexia is a disease that should not be belittled. I am not in any way saying that VB suffers from this disease, but if she did, how hateful to use it in this way.

This is not about being a VB fan or not. It's just about common human decency and good manners.

i don't think anyone can fault you for your sensitivity on the matter rose. i was called/accused of anorexia quite a bit growing up (metabolism of a humming bird:tup:) but i still didn't much mind the free expression i saw in this thread. i honestly hadn't felt that anyone had crossed the line, and the responses to the question were all interesting to me. many words are appropriated these days for casual/general connotations, and "anorexic" is one of them, most often used to express excessive and unhealthy skinniness. i just took it in that vein. truthfully, in person VB, and every celeb we see in pictures are much much thinner than they appear in the pics (i have seen my share of celebs/models behind the scenes). the good news is that SO ARE ALL OF US! lol :yahoo:

one person's harsh is another's honesty. i like to give a very long long loose rope when it comes to the first amendment, not a short leash.

we're in the celebrity section now.
that means more weigh-ins (ack, pardon the pun! lol)

regarding the OT - No - I have never purchased a bag because a celebrity has it. It has to look good on me or forget it! I have been however, made aware of certain bags because some celeb is carrying it but I only see them as moving mannequins - good way to judge sizes and such. Celebs usually end up carrying bags that I already like!
