Do you dress up to go into an LV store?

One thing I love is going into other stores after I've made a purchase.

LOL. Me too!

I am typically found in my usual "west coast uniform" (yoga pants, T-shirt and Lululemon jacket).

Dressed up is jeans, a blouse, a blazer and boots.

I figure that smart sales people know better than to judge a book by its rather "casual cover" and the other type of sales person I'm not interested in dealing with.

My answer is a little different from last time. I still
Like to dress up, but I always did. However, now i dress up for myself more so than to feel like I fit in at the stores. At this point, the SAs at the big stores know me and not necessarily because I buy stuff. I genuinely like them and have tried to help them if I could - I buy them birthday presents and stuff. They know my weight struggle so I think it is fun for them to see me dressed up in something tight and cute. I used to avoid zippers. Now, I just want nice clothes with zippers to remind me to eat right and let me know when things get a little snug.

Not at all ! I don't dress to empress :)
Like my hubby said ... It's what in your
Pocket :D is the most important !!!
Yes.. I go with sweat pants, slippers,
converse or shorts.. But, I never owed them
anything and That's the most important
I guess !!!

I just dress in my usual 'city' clothes when I go to a boutique... So nice fitted jeans, a pretty top, blazer and some heels (hurts me more to walk in flats now sadly!), but this is mainly because my nearest LV/designer shopping area is about 2.5 hours away, so I make a day of being there and we usually try and grab some lunch in a nice restaurant while we're though. My nature is to 'dress up' most of the time because I like the way it makes me feel, nothing to do with other people's opinions of me.

The past 2 LV purchases I have made I have been in my pyjamas - got to love Internet shopping!! :coolio:

I don't. I wear my regular clothes, but I also try not to look sloppy either meaning fully showered and hair combed. Yes I have many days where I don't shower and comb my hair, but that's when I'm at home or just to make a quick trip to the grocery store. :giggles:

Lol at the OP, my mom is kind of like that too. "You wear those clothes while going or carrying LV?"

My clothes are not crappy. I own ruffled blouses that have a chiffon type material, some nice ruffled and patterned tshirts, a draped top, and some tank tops with ruffles on them. That is my daily outdoor attire so they are considered my regular clothes. Guess what? They have no holes and stains! I take care of my clothes. Nice dark blue jeans that have no holes and no color loss.

Yes I like ruffles lol. Bf hates them though.

I always like to look nice and pulled together--I don't neccessarily "dress up" but I do always look stylish. I would wear fitted jeans, heels, and pretty top. Oh, and accessories. And like the poster above me, I would NEVER wear sweats or hanging out on the sofa clothes!

Haha. I don't wear sofa/bed clothes when I have to walk out in public, period. Sweats I do, but only to do errands. Drive thrus, I am guilty of sofa clothes.

I think some of the people that worry about dressing up to go to LV may not have been in one yet. To me most SA's are friendly and try to welcome you and make your shopping/browsing time quite comfortable. When I go to the store I'm wearing whatever outfit I chose that morning. If its shorts, a tee shirt and sandals great. If I happened to be something fancy-schmancy, awesome. ;)

I like to look nice when I go out, especially to the mall! And by nice, I mean, clean and groomed. It's ok to look casual and laid-back, but there's definitely a line between laid-back and sloppy. I don't think I'd wear anything that was "ripping apart." :shrugs:

That being said, I definitely don't think that that SA should've treated you in such a way. :nono:

:goodpost:

i would never wear a tracksuit or any athletic wear (like every single college girl on campus) to the boutique. i'd feel degraded in my own way. even flip flops make me feel like i'm poor. i'd always wear something at least, respectable, so that the sales associates will show me respect and not ignore my existence. in my opinion, it's like going to an interview. you're not going to wear causal clothing because the clothes you wear is a part of the first impression you're giving.

An interview? Not quite. You're doing business with LV. Without the consumer, what would happen? Those unkind SA's that judge people would be looking for new jobs.

. . .but i did not buy a bag i only made 20,000 a year back then so all my bags came from walmart then

Happy, I am not sure what your weight has to do with anything. Don't call yourself fat. At a size 16? Really? And I know people who can go into Wal-mart, put an outfit together, with cute accessories, own it, and you'd never know where the clothes came from. It's rare to see anyone "dressed up" to go shopping regardless of the store. I live in a very upscale area and I see women all the time in ripped jeans, old T-shirts and carrying LV (coming out of $2-3 million homes so I believe the LVs are real).

If I saw someone wearing their best clothes on a Saturday morning to go to LV or any other store I'd think they felt they had to prove something to the SA's.

This reminds me of a story DH told me - he cares about quality in some things, just doesn't see it in bags (but he's getting better about that). Anyway he needed some new sunglasses and went in an upscale store wearing old, stained clothes. The SA said "you know these start at $200, are you sure you're interested?" So he pulled out his mangled ones and said, "yes, I paid $450 for these and I stepped on them today while working at a charity building site, which is why I'm dressed like a bum, but I'll go elsewhere to replace them" and he walked out.

Once again I feel ancient - my mother used to wear a nice dress, high heels, GLOVES and a HAT to go grocery shopping in the 60's - I don't know anyone who even dresses like that at church anymore!

:goodpost: Love this!

I wear whatever I happen to be wearing that day. If I am in a dress, I am in a dress. Sometimes I wear makeup and sometimes I don't.
If you're there to spend money and purchase something, I don't think it makes a lick of difference what you walked in wearing. Either you're going to buy something or you're not. Doubtful the SA cares what you're wearing. You're a commission to her, nothing less. Sometimes people need to let go of their Pretty Woman fantasy of being ignored because they aren't dressed properly. I think it's in your head.
Bag-a-holic23 - nice post by the way! Spot on.

The LV SAs I've interacted with have all been helpful and friendly, but I do try to dress extra nice whenever I go shopping at higher-end stores. Being overweight (as I am) *does* affect how some SAs will treat you (don't even get me started about the Chanel SA who once told me I was too fat to buy an expensive purse...), but I've found that if I'm dressed up, I get better service.

That Bish said what?! Omg Im so sorry sweetheart! Don't pay any attention to those people! I know you are a gorgeous person, what size clothes you wear would never affect that. :hugs:
