Do you dress up to go into an LV store?

My experience in LV is always fine. But one time my husband went to prada(frankfurt) to order a bag for me at the weeknd, coz then they had no more in the store, and he dressed really casual and looked like a student. A women there told my husband that he was on the list and everything would be fine and i would get my bag in most ten days. But! After ten days we got nothing even no any feedback from the store. My husband phoned them, guess what they told him? They said, sorry u r not on the list. He went angry and normally he is not a person who can be angry easily..... He blamed them and complained a lit(i guess). In the end they said if he really wanted that bag they would keep one in the store for him and asked when he could go to pick it up. My husband said at once after work. He went there with nice suits(neccessary for work) to pick the bag. The woman who did't put him on waiting-list was there too. My husband told me i should be there to have a look how her face was and how big her mouth was. But my man just ignored her and talked to other sa. Finally i got the bag, but i dont wanna go shopping in prada so much any more......

haha maybe that's a German thing! :D I got to know many many unfriendly SAs (not at LV but in other expensive store as well) . I always feel like SAs in the US are a lot nicer:) A friend of mine went to Chanel (also in Frankfurt) and asked the SA to show her a bag. Then the SA said "hmm..well. This bag is very expensive...." blabla and my friend was like "yap. Perhaps it's expensive for YOU. Bye" :D

The LV SAs I've interacted with have all been helpful and friendly, but I do try to dress extra nice whenever I go shopping at higher-end stores. Being overweight (as I am) *does* affect how some SAs will treat you (don't even get me started about the Chanel SA who once told me I was too fat to buy an expensive purse...), but I've found that if I'm dressed up, I get better service.

I so get that as well. I'm very curvy (ha! overweight) and have had some really bad service and comments. I'm still not sure how your weight /height affects whether you can buy a handbag! So I do try to wear a really put together outfit when I go.

I wear whatever I have on. Last time I had army boots, a neon striped skirt and an off-shoulder tee with lady gaga's face on it. And the SA said, "You always have the coolest statement necklaces." Cute that he noticed. I do tend to wear big jewelry. But to answer the question, I don't dress up. I think that would be even weirder than wearing jeans here in Holland.

You're an exception as you are one of those people that can wear a potato sack and still look awesome! Haha

No, I never do. Last summer I went in really loud I'm-on-the-beach kinda shorts and flipflops to pick up a bag that was being repaired...
The funniest thing was the costumers looked at me from head to toe in a snotty manner when I entered the store, then all the SAs went to hug me and offer me something to drink, you should have seen their faces!

I usually try to pick something a little bit neater if I know I wana drop by at LV or other expensive stores. But I guess it's just might be my style, usually nice top or blouse with jeans, so still pretty casual. And I don't remember having bad experience or look in LV. I'm quite tiny and defiantly look a bit younger than my age, I think most ppl think I'm just a student! And I dont really like that, been trying to shake off that impression for quite awhile now. But anyway I think the SA in LV r quite nice, sometimes just take awhile waiting for the service.

And yer I agree with everyone that they shouldn't really judge people by what they wear! And to be honest, I don't really think people who can't afford things from the stores or have no intention of getting anything from them would go into the stores.

I think was like couple months ago, me n my bf went to tiffanys to look at a few rings, and the SA wasn't very nice. It's not like she won't let me try on things but just the way she was talking, just felt like she thinks I cnt afford it. N it really put me off. If I didn't want it I wouldn't have bother spending my time to go there to look at it. N I suppose both of us were dress pretty casual that day like tshirt n jeans!? But I see many ppl dress like that all the time! Anyway I left pretty fast after that.

So I guess dressing nicer could just avoid some disappointment or bad service experience!?

I never ever wear sweats, pajamas, or work-out clothes in public. My "lazy" outfit is a pair of jeans, a tshirt and my hair tied up.
I do feel more comfortable if I'm dressed up when going into a luxury store, but most of time I won't dress up.

I don't usually dress extra nice when going to an LV store. I've never tried anything really informal like shorts and flip flops (although I don't usually dress that way). So far, the SA's have been attentive regardless of what I wear/ They're helpful except when there are a lot of people in the store then I'd have to wait to get assisted.

I do like visiting the LV boutique even if I'm not out to buy anything yet. For instance, yesterday I visited the store to check out the Kusama collection. The male SA led me to the VIP room where the collection was stored and he was very accommodating to all my questions. I guess it depends on the SA.

I think the only point of dressing up for LV shopping is that Im planning for a loooong time to buy a purse and I imagine the experience over and over again in my head and when the day comes, I want to wear my favourite cute outfit JUST because my day will be fabulous (because of LV shopping) and I want to feel the best inside/outside. It just adds to my awesome day

Well i did dressed before, but because it is so freaking hot in istanbul, i wear so casual baggy jeans and linen tunic, last time me and my friends went to very fancy district and i was dressed that casual that i really didnt care where we are going:lolots: when my friends saw LV store they said we need to go there the other day as our outfit and wallets are not really in mood for luxury shopping, and i said who cares lets go and see some new stuff... Omg if u couls see the faces of my friends and the people in the store, both LV and CHANEL when all the sa do recognized me, asked how i m doing and asked if i would like something to drink, water or juice...hahah also my friends do comment that sa and i do speak on totally different language when it comes to purses heheh:laugh::cool:

I don't dress differently and I get treated the same regardless. I do always take a nice bag, usually but not always a Louie. Most of the time I go in first thing in the AM and am alone in the store with them. They are usually happy to talk bags with me.

My husband went to the LV store on worth ave in palm beach to look for something for me. And I kid you not they asked him what he was looking for, he told them and they looked at him and said "honey, maybe Macy's is more in your budget" are you kidding me!!! He was wearing nice golf shorts, a lacoste polo and sperry slip ons. For real lady?!?!? She no longer is employed with the company :)

Have a very similar story - except the SA made rude remarks to a gentleman who ended up being one of LVs lawyers! :giggles: Never judge a book by its cover!!
