Do you dress up to go into an LV store?

I also agree with others.. When I see people dressed up in a high end store I automatically think they are trying to hard and probably arent as well of as they are trying to seem. When I see someone dressed in sweats.. I think they must be used to having alot of money and feel no need to show off

So the econ major in me would like to point out that this discussion is about a microeconomic idea called signaling that one person conveys meaningful information about itself to a firm or person.

While going into LV, Chanel, or NM in jeans, flip flops and a beater is countersignaling. The buyers knows going in that they can buy products from there no problem (Call it high-quality sender). But people of a medium quality will dress up to be perceived as a high quality sender.

Because the buyer does not want to be confused with a medium quality buyer they do not dress up.

On a related note I always try to look respectable but have gone to LV in ratty jeans.

I've gone in anything from jeans capris to a pencil skirt and stilletos. It just depends on what else I have going on that day, such as work.

I also do what another poster said: if I'm looking for a more casual bag, I'll dress more casually. If I'm looking for a bag I could use for work, I'll wear work clothes, etc.

I wouldnt dress up but did dress nicely to go into the store. Unfortunately Ive been a victim of judgement when going into stores. One of which was DIOR. For some reason Ive noticed that the service rendered is better when you look a certain way. Not saying thats right but unfortunately thats been my experience.

I don't always dress up but when I do dress up a little and carry an LV bag, I think I get better service. Unfortunately, we are judged by our appearance by people we don't know and first impressions go a long way, especially in an LV store.

I dress however I am dressed for the day. I do not dress up for certain stores as I don't see who/what I need to impress. If people want to judge me because I am wearing comfortable clothes in a expensive store then so be it.. but I dress as I need/want be.

Not really, I dress how ever i like to dress on that day. I usually dress nicer when I do go out so really i'm not "dressing up" just go LV. I'm usually in flip flops, jeans and a top and an LV bag. I once went to LV in my school uniform as I needed to get something and didn't have time to get changed so yeah.

I usually dress in an outfit that would help me decide if the bag I am interested in works for me. Does that make sense? In other words, casual dress if I'm searching for jeans and t-shirt kind of bag, more dressy if I'm looking for a dressy bag.

i do that too...if i am planning to buy a casual bag, i will dress casual so that i can see in store whether it fits my look or not.

No I don't, but I always try to look good when I go shopping (designer stores or not), so I won't look sloppy, but I won't dress up just to go into a designer store.

I dress normal and try to see if I will be waited on, if not then I simply said oh well, you just lost a big sale. When i went to both Gucci and LV in one day and blew near a couple thousand CASH. I was not waited on in the LV store but Gucci waited on me and treated me very nice. LV on the other hand was eye balling me as if i came to steal LOL. Next time I go to LV I will dress in cut offs and flip flops and I hope it is in summer. I intend to by the galleria so let me see them snob me. LOL
