Do you dress up to go into an LV store?

I usually dress in an outfit that would help me decide if the bag I am interested in works for me. Does that make sense? In other words, casual dress if I'm searching for jeans and t-shirt kind of bag, more dressy if I'm looking for a dressy bag.

Yes that makes sense. That is what I did the last two times I went.

I am a some what of fancy dresser though anyways ( have to dress nice for work).

I dress appropriately. If I am going grocery... I can wear my sweat pants, no make up, whatever...

But if I know I am going to Top Designer stores like Burberry, LV, Chanel... I try to put together an outfit. Still casual but put together. I also make sure I bring one of my high end bag either from Chanel or LV.

I find that I get welcomed and they take notice of me and my kids! They know us by first names too! My kids love the feeling! I do too!

When I walk into a store, I want to be given attention and not be ignored like I have no business there anyway... hate that feeling that they measure your buying ability by what you wear... its sad but unfortunately it happens often!

I was just wondering if anyone dresses up when the know they are going to a designer store to make a purchase?

I always get coments such as 'OMG is that what you wore to LV/Gucci/Versace etc, you look like a tr*mp' by my family and friends.

I would say 50% of the time I enter these store without make up, messy tied back hair, trainers, vest, cargdi and sweat pants. Just like today when I went LV on my way to work. My job invovles me to travel and carry things a lot around London so I like to feel comfortable and moveable.

But am I supposed to dress up if I know I am going to one of these store?

Why should your clothes matter?

I remeber one time actually about six years ago. I enter Dior on my way home dressed like this (well actually one of my trainers were ripping apart because me friends dog got a hold of it) and had one SA follow me around the whole store and giving me funny looks. When I asked her see that bag (i pointed to a small evening leather saddle bag) she said 'oh that bag is very expensive'. I purchased the bag but never went into their store ever again for that reason and because the rhinstones started falling apart after one use.

sorry to hear that,I was wearing casual clothes and a hobo lether bag when I went to LV botique store I dont feel like I need to dress up but I do look presentable having said that I doesnt matter what you are wearing she should have not tell you its very expensive If I were you (you should have told here I wasnt asking for the price) and though!:rtr: obviously its expensive there's freak... doorman or guard by the door I hate rude SA like that never encounter one but knock on wood I hope I would never encounter it.
next time it happen to you dont purchase to the same rude SA it only encourage them to behave like that ask another SA.

I like to look nice when I go out, especially to the mall! And by nice, I mean, clean and groomed. It's ok to look casual and laid-back, but there's definitely a line between laid-back and sloppy. I don't think I'd wear anything that was "ripping apart." :shrugs:

That being said, I definitely don't think that that SA should've treated you in such a way. :nono:

Wow thank you for all the replies!

Lol I am clean even when I am wearing my casuals. I hope you are not imagining that I am all dirty and sloppy! hehehe

I have noticed that when I dress up the SA's like to approch me more quickly in all designer stores.

I can gladly say that with LV I had NEVER had a rude comment or funny look regardless of how I am dressed! They always treat me in the same very nicxe way, well done LV SA's!!!!

I mentioned before that I don't think it's necessary but I was thinking about how fifty years ago women always dressed up to go out even if it was to the market. In some ways I like that even though no one does it anymore.

I know what you mean. I love looking at pictures from the 50s & 60s. The ladies looked so elegant.
