Do you dress up to go into an LV store?

Yes, I always dressed up, not just to go to LV store but anywhere I go since I was brought up like that. I grew up seeing my Mum always dressed up to a T with a matching bag and shoes. Complete with all the accessories plus a well kept mani/pedicures...

oops, but during the night, I wear this costume! See my avatar!!!:D

Not at all, in fact most of the times I've shopped at LV I have been dressed a little on the shabby side - complete with old t-shirt and cheap flip-flops - because I've been on holiday somewhere & tend just to dress for comfort if I'm going to be out & about the whole day. My husband always laughs about it - the fact that I go in dressed like that and come out with a $2000 bag. I've always had really great service from all the SA's I've ever come across, so you really don't need to dress to impress them to get good service. (Dressing up just to look like you can afford LV kinda seems like "putting on airs" to "look the part" - I'm sure the SAs can spot that sort of thing a mile off!)

I was just wondering if anyone dresses up when the know they are going to a designer store to make a purchase?

I always get coments such as 'OMG is that what you wore to LV/Gucci/Versace etc, you look like a tr*mp' by my family and friends.

I would say 50% of the time I enter these store without make up, messy tied back hair, trainers, vest, cargdi and sweat pants. Just like today when I went LV on my way to work. My job invovles me to travel and carry things a lot around London so I like to feel comfortable and moveable.

But am I supposed to dress up if I know I am going to one of these store?

Why should your clothes matter?

I remeber one time actually about six years ago. I enter Dior on my way home dressed like this (well actually one of my trainers were ripping apart because me friends dog got a hold of it) and had one SA follow me around the whole store and giving me funny looks. When I asked her see that bag (i pointed to a small evening leather saddle bag) she said 'oh that bag is very expensive'. I purchased the bag but never went into their store ever again for that reason and because the rhinstones started falling apart after one use.

What is it with Dior's SAs? I have never been treated badly at any of the higher end stores EXCEPT Dior. Every time I've been to a Dior store the SAs always seem to be looking down their noses at me as if I've wandered into the wrong store and need redirecting to K Mart (Australian equivalent of Walmart).

I cannot stand the mentality of having to dress to look as if you can actually afford to be in a higher end shop. My daddy always taught me that those who have money do not need to show it off to others; it is people who do not have money that have something to prove. That being said, I have gone to the local LV boutique dressed up after a day at the office and dressed down on the weekends. The level of service I receive hasn't seemed to change depending on what I am wearing. I will, however, note that the local Gucci boutique's SA's obviously do not subscribe to the "do not judge a book by its cover" theory. I have been treated like a common thief when I walked into Gucci wearing a wife beater, jeans, and flip flops. I literally had an employee follow me around and eyeball me as if I was going to steal something. He finally came right out and sighed at me and asked if there was something he could do for me. I was about to drop $2k on a bag that I really really wanted, but went across the way to LV and made my purchase there instead.

What gets me is the attitude of some snobby SA's. Yes, you work at Gucci. Fabulous. But at the end of the day, honey you still work in retail. You are not a $200k per year surgeon. Reality, anyone... Anyone...?

OMG! Way too funny! I went to purchase my LV after work one day and I touched up my makeup and my hair before going in the store. I would never go in there after working out because I wouldn't want them to hesitate to let me touch the bags. I also agree with the previous comment that I like to wear what I would be wearing my potential bag with. I think a cute casual outfit is just fine. I would never go into LV without makeup and all sweaty from working out. I actually feel like its a bit disrespectful. If I was an SA, I wouldn't some person who just touched a whole bunch of nasty equipment and was all sweaty to be touching all my expensive bags for sale!

Just my little point of view. :)

I've never been into Dior. I didn't know it was like that. That's annoying.

Your weight should have absolutely nothing to do with anything, and this just disgusts me. The SA's at Finish Line are there to serve YOU - the customer. And seeing as they work on commission like anyone else in retail, how do they know that you weren't there to purchase a million dollars in running shoes for your new workout routine? The nerve of some people - I'm sorry this happened to you!!!

Shopping for me is a fun, relaxing, enjoyable experience. If I want to relax, then I don't wear the black pants, black blouse, fancy shoes, etc that I wear to work. I wear jeans or khakis & flip flops. So no I never dress up to go shopping. I look presentable though. No stains, rips, old sweatpants, etc.

I wear whatever I feel like wearing that day. Somtimes its sweatpants and sweatshirt and other times its jeans, or a sun dress... I RARLEY wear makeup. Why should I get all glammed up to buy a purse. I refuse to do stuff just to please others. If im happy thats all that mothers. I am comfortable with myself with no makup and sweatpants on and thats all that matters. I wear makeup maybe once a month.. if that. I mean im only 21 why wear makeup before its necessary.

thanks but the people at lv are nice and at coach

The SA's at Coach are without a doubt some of the friendliest most helpful retail employees around - hands down!! A lot of my girlfriends swear by Coach, so I generally accompany them whenever we go shopping. No matter where we are, Scottsdale, Vegas, LA, NYC, you name it, the Coach SA's are awesome.

With LV, I think this really depends on where you go and if they know who you are. I have always had good experiences with my local LV boutique, but there are horror stories that have been shared by others...
