I always dress up if im going to order or pick up a handbag at LV... i dont know why! The SAs always look so good i dont want to go in there looking crap! But i always dress up to go beyond my front door...thats just me!

No, I don't specially "dress up" for a visit to LV, just wear what I'm wearing that day - however when I go out anywhere, try and make an effort to look smart, wear accessories etc. I would never be seen with a rolled out of bed/unwashed hair/houseclothes/sweatpants look, even at the supermarket! :nogood:

I Think this is a really interesting thread. Quite the variety of answers. I don't think that you should have to "dress up" to go shopping, unless you somehow prove yourself to be some kind of miscreant through your own behavior whilst in the store, the sales associates should be polite and helpful regardless.

That said, I do dress up. I try to be a pretty snappy dresser daily anyway, and if going out for an enjoyable shopping experience and especially if I'm buying that day, I dress up to enhance the experience. I don't think I'm dressing in an attempt to be a "high end sender" as the econ major suggested, although I thought her comment was very cool.

Once I went to the Rodeo drive LV with my husband to buy a wallet. I was dressed up as usual and he was dressed very down. He had longish tousled hair, was dressed in dirty black jeans and wore his sunglasses the whole time we were in there and the hilarity ensued. I found it perfectly charming. He looks vaguely rock-starish and everyone was staring at him, but more in a is-that-somebody way and not so much in a get-that-man-out sort of way. Ah, the complexities of sales associate behavior.

I don't live anywhere near an LV so when I do to LV I am usually dressed in nice "city" clothes that I would wear for a day out shopping/lunch with friends etc.
I think people should wear whatever the feel comfortable into LV - it's only a store.:D

I don't 'dress up' but you'd never see me in any store wearing sweats etc. I don't own any :p I'm a dresses/skirt girl and my personal style is definitely dressier than most. Most of the SAs in my store are lovely so you get good service regardless, though I'd say most people in Perth dress up, except the tourists... the SAs really fawn over them.

How DARE that salesperson say such a condescending thing to you? Its just another example of how the SA's at LV boutiques look down on people...honestly you cannot judge a person by what he or she wears! I've met multi-millionaires who usually wear tee shirts, jeans and sneakers. And I've also met people who are broke as jokes, who dress to the nines! You never can tell by the clothes alone.
As for the way I dress when I go shopping...I just go the way I always dress: all black, with silver jewelery and usually ballet-slippers if I'm on my feet all day. Nothing fancy, but always presentable. If I'm dressed up when I'm shopping, its because I just came from somewhere and didn't go home to change.

I really dont see why it would be necessary to dress up to impress a sales assistant. We arent talking about the queen.. I mean haha they sell handbags..Nothing against that.... but I dont think it's wear a dress and heals worthy by any means

I usually go in what was once called "business casual". I don't do the dress and heels routine, but nice trousers, pretty blouse with a jacket or perhaps a sweater with an LV scarf. I find I get much better service if I look pulled together.

When I go shopping I dress casual and comfy (= jeans, top, cardigan, flats, LVbag, nice shawl) and I make sure my hair is nice and I always put on make up. Sweatpants only get worn inside the house! And I never ever wear heels for shopping!

haha i went into burberry and lv in my school uniform with my backpack and my worn out converses ( no laces) and they treated me so nice and answerd all my questions
i didn't even buy anything i just went to have a peek around and get some answers at questions i had about bags
and then when i came to get the bag with my mum i just wore jeans the same all stars and a grey sweater
they always approch me nicely no matter what i wear or where i am
( altough the ladies at longchamp aren't nice at all!!!, where ever i come)
and money is money, my dad always says and if they don't want my money i'll find a store who wants it instead ( and he will litterally say that to the SA maybe i should take him into a dior just to see their snobby faces when they get to hear that)

Nope. I'll be going tomorrow in shorts and a polo and my beat up converse sneakers. My usual attire. Lol And I have a big long Grizzly Adams beard right now. :weird: I always have gotten good service no matter how I am dressed or how I look. If they know you have money to spend it doesn't matter.

One thing I love is going into other stores after I've made a purchase. When I bought my Keepall, which came in a HUGE LV bag, the salespeople at Nordstrom were tripping over themselves to try and help me. Guess they thought I had a fat wallet that day! :wtf:
