I would wear my matching sweatsuits or some jeans, no makeup, hair in a simple up-do and carry a nice purse. Most of the SAs are pretty nice in most of the stores I walk into. Recently I walked in an LV store, looking all tore back and carrying a big Versace shopping bag, and
boy-- here comes an LV SA trying to sell me swimsuits. Don't judge a book by its cover, right?
^ that can only be too true its happened to me when i bring Tiffany or Bvlgari bags into lv (its a nice feeling to be looked after, but do they realise that you may have just spent ur buget and ur window shopping?

Hello, I am new to here and this is a funny thread~~ I think it really depends on the SA who served. When I first visited my local bouitque, no SA served me as I look a bit young and seem not afford the bags, even when they serve they don't have patience. But when they getting to know me, they don't care what I wear now.

One time when I back to my home (Hong Kong), I visited one boutique with no one served at all, the manager and the SAs were very rude. So my BF just said "maybe we should buy it back to UK, the SAs are too busy to served people". Then suddenly few SAs came and served me which makes me feel bad. Then next day I visited another one without dress up, one of the SA came by and served me like queen, she even give out her name card~~ yes the name card, that was the first time I received it and I have no idea they have personal name card, just feel like heaven~~

Its perfect.

I was told when i worked at a jewellery store you dont look down on people that might dress down because those are the ones that might spend more money then the guy all dressed up.

NEVA! As a matter of fact, last time I was there I wore my A&F jeans with torn knees and a tank top!!! You should have seen the SAs looking at me when I first walked in!!! I LOVE doing that, esp. when I know I am going to buy something!

I do agree with you tho about them/and the door man looking at you funny when you dress down. I once was on the downtown bloor street store and my b/f had put on his hoodie as it got windy while we were walking around.. We go into LV and i was in nice jeans and leather jacket the door man says hi, how are you.. in walks my b/f and he got the funniest look and the door man followed him around until he took off his hoodie. I guess maybe he thought he was going to hijack the place i dont know.

So sad!:sad2: It's a shame how people judge other people by how they look. I say if the SA doesn't want to help you because you're wearing jeans and a t-shirt, then too bad for them when they miss out on a sale! I went to school with a girl whose parents hit the lottery for 3 million and she dressed just like all of us. Good for her!!!

I just like to dress up... :)

It's true tho, the first couple of times I walked into NM, I was completely ignored, and I didn't buy anything at all! I still avoid going in there, unless it's to look and then I tend to go to the boutique and buy stuff there! They are just so rude at NM in Tysons :(

And the SA's at Tiffanys are horrible too! But, Tysons is far away enough as it is, so, they get my money. I have met some great SA's though, and, working in retail myself, I can understand having a bad day, but, when a customer is in your store, you should be treating them all the same...it's the people who wear sweats that are more likely to come back because you didn't judge them :)

This may sound weird, but if I can help it, I deliberately dress down. If a SA is super nice to me, they get ALL my business in the future.

That's what I do too. When I know I'm going to buy something in high end stores, we usually dress down and wait until someone is nice enough to help us. Of course most of SAs ignore us, but we have met really nice SAs who are willing to help us despite our appearances, and we only do business with them :amuse:

well...since the only lv here is in Saks, i don't dress up or down because most of the SAs know me, so they know that even if i'm not going to buy, i know my LV and I get treated pretty much the same.

i always try to look presentable when I go out -- nice jeans and a nice top. but nothing special. i think if you are carrying an LV bag, that is enough to get the SAs attention!

I always wear nice jeans and a polo or button down shirt. It's a four hour drive to the nearest LV so I don't get too dressed up. Last time I went to Hermes first and bought a scarf. You should have seen how many SA's asked if DH and I were being helped or needed anything.

I dress comfy but still nicely. One thing I notice anytime I go to high end store, if the SA is Asian, they are super friendly and nice no matter what I wear but not so much for the rest. May be because I am Asian? I always carry my nice bag not necessarily LV .
