Did you get rid of your less designer items?

I have a couple premier designer bags and a few contemporary ones and honestly, I wear my contemporary stuff more. Then again I don't have super high end items like Chanel or Hermes, my most expensive bag is the Givenchy Pandora. I reach for my Rebecca Minkoff Moto Hobo more than the Pandora, but I do love them both.

Yes. Once I fell in love with certain premier designer brands and models, I sold almost all my contemporary bags. I keep a few that I wear when I don't want to risk my other bags.
I may buy a Contemproary bag in the future but 90% of my future purchases will likely be premiere.

EBay and Tradesy worked well for me on sales.

I do not get rid of my non-designer bags just because I start to dabble in high-end designer bags. Getting my first designer brand bag only served to kick-start my interest in beautiful bags, which can range from non-designer to higher-end brands. Both have their own place and usefulness, depending on the occasion. Some of my more expensive bags don't actually get used that much compared to the cheaper ones, so I'm trying to rectify that. :hrmm:

I didn't get rid of my Coach, Dooney, or Fossil. Even my one Juicy Couture wristlet is in my closet. I think they still have their use, whether for going to an outdoor event, when it's inclement weather, etc. Sounds terrible but I don't want to carry my more expensive bags when it's raining, similar to wearing my nice shoes during good weather!

I can't imagine touching chanel or hermes bag, then pointing @ every other brand on planet & shrieking, "Unclean! Begone!"

Would be akin to moving my skull mug off the antique tea table.
Or telling "free kitten" he can't hide grubby, pink mousie toy between cushions of custom sofa.
Impossible nonsense.

To me, beauty is a range of contrasts & quirks. Colors & textures. All jumbled together.
Price irrelevant, value foremost.
Combined with both confidence & hints of wtf. Interesting enough to catch the eye, but not to terrify it into madness.

But, then, I've never been quite right.;)

I agree. Quality comes at many price points.
What's wrong with being terrifying?
My youngest's friends all say "Your mom is SCARY."
I work hard at this.

I have sold most of my very low end (Juicy Couture) and older bags now that I own several Prada, a Fendi, a Chanel, and a LV. I have not gotten rid f all of them because 1) I love variety - I like different, unique bags for each outfit. Just having LV would get me bored.
2) I like being able to wear a purse and not worry about ruining it
3) Most of the gals in my circle don't know the difference between a real or fake Coach, much less an LV or Chanel

My MK Saffiano Hamilton bags have been AMAZING for travel. They hold a lot of stuff and take a lot of wear, and then I have several Kate Spade and Coach and Tory Burch that are just too cute. I save my expensive bags for evening out, and wear the cheaper ones for every day.

For me it's about quality, not how 'designer' it is or how much it cost. I have bags from 'contemporary' brands like mansur gavriel, Phillip lim, pb0110 etc that are just as good quality as my Saint Laurent or givenchy. With premier designers to some extent you are paying for the name - higher price doesn't always translate into better quality.
I do agree though that once you have experienced the pleasure of supple full grain leather it's hard to go back - I did get rid of my super low end, fast fashion stuff.
I do still like Kate spade bags though - when on sale they are good value and I like not having to worry about them getting damaged/stolen.

I find myself using my contemporary designer bags on days I don't want to worry about my bag (coach, Kate spade, Tory B). I own 4 LVs and 1 Balenciaga and prefer those more than I ever imagined.

I got rid of a lot of my contemporary bags like my RMs and other coach and Kate spades that I sold off.
Yes! I use Treesje & MBMJ bags every day for work, ones that I wouldn't mind being caught in a sudden rain with. The bags are still beautiful with yummy leather, but I tend to only use my Bal AFTER checking what the weather will be like & when I'm feeling fancy.[emoji6]
