I'm sorry, Coach and MK, less designer brands???? Not at all! Just because a bag doesn't cost $2,000, didn't mean it's not beautiful and functional. Sorry. That comment is snobbish, and disrespectful.

I am an equal opportunity bag junkie!
Cute and well made is all I care about.
Over the years I have had everything but Chanel.
Cute and well made is my thing. Could care less about the NAME.
In fact, no name is preferable.

I never really had less designer handbags. I only buy and carry luxe bags. I have sold some Fendi and LV bags over the years as I've refined my collection but I only upgrade not downgrade. im not interested in contemporary bags as I feel they are not nice enough and therefore a waste of money for me. I can just keep saving and get something I really want instead of settling.

You're right. I'm as likely to carry a Faded Glory or George or something from Wal-Mart ( which have some really cute and elegant pieces) as I am my Louis Vuittons, Coaches, or Michael Kors. I'm also a Vera Bradley fanatic. I've never been really interested in Chanel either, but I've seen some cute ones since I joined tpf, and am considering a Boy bag. But honestly I really think it's the look ( how it goes with your outfit) over the name. Sorry, I rambled.

I would love to have that kind of focus!
I see a shiny new bag and I'm like a magpie and tin foil.

I have a few contemporary bags. I still love them. I bought because i love how it looks like. But now i've been having a hard time trying to find the time to use it.

Been wanting to sell but i dont know if there is a market form those.

I agree on the cute & well made front! I've been in purge mode for awhile so I've cut a lot of my closet clutter. Currently wearing everything that I have! My purse / SLG wardrobe includes accessories from Chanel, LV, Balenciaga, Gucci, Cuyana, Marc Jacobs, Coach, Longchamp, Vera Bradley & TOMS. Also a cute no-name pouch that I bought at Anthropologie that says "je ne sais quoi" in gold lettering & a clutch that I had made from a pair of my old license plates

Someday I'll do a bag showcase thread! I always think it would be fun to make time for that

Respectfully, I don't think it's fair to characterize the comment as snobbish and disrespectful. And I didn't see comments in which anyone said contemporary brands can't be beautiful or functional.

However, TPF and retailers and the brands themselves make a distinction between premiere and contemporary brands. It's not a slight to acknowledge there is a purposeful difference in the positioning of the brands and offering of the products. Coach is not as high level a brand as Hermes. Coach's bags may be as well or more loved and cherished by any number of people, but it is factual to say it is a lower level brand than Hermes because of their positionings.

And it's perfectly ok for an individual to say they don't ever want a contemporary bag just like it's ok for someone else to say don't ever want a premiere bag. It isn't a statement on anyone or anything other than they like or don't like x. I know the bags I like are probably horrible to some because of the price point, brand, look, material.... And that's ok. So try not to take the comments about anything personally

No way. I have a lot of high-end bags (Chanel, Dior, LV, YSL, BV, etc.) but I definitely need and use my Coach, Rebecca Minkoff, and other lower-end bags sometimes. Why? I'll give you an example. When it's as hot as it's been this summer, I can't bear to wear my high-end stuff. Why? I wear sunblock, put sunblock on my kids, play in the water at the playground, sweat, and just feel gross. I don't want to worry about my bag. Plus I have a baby so she will try to "eat" my bag every chance she gets. When I am on my own time and it's not so hot out, I wear my nice stuff. Everything has its time and place.

Your post brought back memories!
I for years had an old black Fossil bucket bag that my youngest used as a teething toy (unbeknownst to me) on day at lunch with my mother.
I kept it for years.

Great to see most of us all agree, we love bags of all price points, wear them for different reasons and all serve a purpose. In addition to loving all bags, I also wear certain bags when I don't want to give off the wrong impression when meeting people for the first time. My friends who don't know high end to low end anything know I love expensive bags and don't judge me. When going to school/work function and don't want to be judged I will wear my bags that have no logos or grabs attention. Totally agree price does not dictate designer or quality! Love the kid comments. Good thing I had my old but still good coach tote today as my kids threw melted gum in it and the chocolate croissant I had saved for later melted inside!

Yeah. Had the gum issue myself. Same Fossil mentioned in previous post.
That poor bag was abused.
