I have bought some of the old wallets on Ebay when I find them in good shape. They don't make quality leather today unless you spend big $$$ I have an old checkbook cover too!I just happened to come across this thread! I am also of the age when Aigner was THE popular purse! I had the bugundy ones and sadly didn't save one of them! I also carried the wallets up until maybe 10 or so years ago, as they lasted a very long time! I also still have an Aigner checkbook cover in use, and I am sure it's at least 20 years old!
I have been agonizing over what purse(s) to buy for summer. I just don't have a favorite brand like I used to! I like quality but refuse to pay exorbitant prices for the high end designer bags.

I used to buy Coach til they went downhill. Also several Dooney & Burke. If I like it and can get a good price I will buy it. There's actually a thread here about new designers who make quality bags that are under the radar. Reasonable and real leather. I forget the name of the thread. I also like Kate Spade.I saw you say that and I realized I did, too! Actually, I have two! I don't carry them everyday, and that is probably why they have lasted. I only occcasionally have to write a check.
If you don't mind me asking, do you buy any contemporary designers? I have a few. Some Coach (but I don't like much of their current line), some Rebecca Minkoff (had problems with peeling leather on one), Dooney and Bourke (pretty good), and my daughter has a few Michael Kors bags that seem to be ok. I like some Tory Burch bags but I have read of quality issues. I need bags that are classic and casual, mostly.
The German Etienne Aigner handbags look luxurious and it is a luxury brand here while in the US websites (including Zappos), the bags are made in China and they look cheap? Does someone have an explanation about it?
Have you ever seen these bags where the inside label was metal and just said Etienne? That's beautiful!
That is one of the newer bags.Have you ever seen these bags where the inside label was metal and just said Etienne?
It’s an original from Munch. Those are made in Italy and are high end bags.Hello,
Is this one oryginal?
You can find the vintage burgundy ones on eBay, Poshmark, and Etsy. Many of them were hand made And the leather is still good.
