i find 04 thinner than 05 - but more beautiful

it's unbelievably silky and cuddly. u'll find yourself unconsciously caressing it! the distressing, if one can call it that, is extremely fine and even - almost like the lovely soft wrinkled skin of an old lady's cheek

the best leather, hands-down, imo!!

I've been looking at pics of other ladies' yummy bags from years like 05, and started feeling very envious. DH bought me a Cognac City last year. It's beautiful. But he had no idea about different Bal leathers. To be honest neither did I! The leather on my Cognac is very soft and fine. But now that I've seen those 05's....Maybe some of you could post pics sometimes of your 06 Cognac City's.

It's St Patrick's Weekend over here (Ireland) so even though I'm not Irish I'll be out and about. However, I'll be posting pics soon, as I want to take pics of my bag for another thread. So pics will follow asap! BTW, are the rich, yummy leathers heavier than 06 bags? Please please me about 06 bbags! Thanks ladies!

i have unfortunately never felt an o5 bag :( but i have felt o6's and they are all very, very silky. i was surprised actually b/c i always heard the o6's werent that nice - but i was really impressed.

hello dearie ! I lived in Ireland for 3 years its the most beautiful place on Earth! Im drinking Guinness this weekend even though Im in Denmark now:supacool:

That said, dont worry about 05 leather...i have a 06 pale rose weekender and the leather on it couldnt be more gorgeous:love:...I bet your cognac is fantastic too!

i have 3 06 bbags. one's brand new, the other 2 pre-loved. my cognac day's the more pre-loved one. much of the shine has been rubbed off; in place the leather feels like velvet and is more plumped up. the leather of the slightly pre-loved cornflower feels just like that of the brand new black box: smooth, soft, silky, thin. i'm not sure if the cognac has had any leathercare product applied on it. with usage, i hope the leathers on cornflower and black box will plump up more. my black box was in the rain yesterday. i read in the silly stories thread that occasional baths should be good for the leather

i don't post lots of pictures. i happen to have taken some for the shoes thread.

You shouldn't. My 06 Ink First has BUTTER for leather. As does my mom's 06 black Day.

I've noticed that its only some colors that look drier than others. For example, Emerald was sort of veiny and Bluberry was dry. Of course, there are the exceptions.

Post pics of your Cognac!

My 06 Grenat has beautiful leather - very, very silky! I even did a side by side comparison with my (gone to a new home) 05 Olive because I had always heard the same thing about the 06 leather. They were definitely very different, but even next to an 05 the 06 is still beautiful. The leather on the 05 City was soft and buttery whereas my 06 Grenat leather is very silky. Kind of like Apple and Oranges, but both are gorgeous, IMO!

I love my Cognac 06's!!! I have the work, city, and twiggy in this color. I also have a first, but that is from 02. I had a day, but I just sold her to a PFer, and she was beautiful also! If you go into the thread Dated Nov7th 2006"Feast your Eyes On Many Cognac 06 S/S Bags" that Zacorey posted for me, you will see all my cognac bags I had at the time. I added the city and twiggy later! Enjoy your 06 Cognac, as that is a beautiful color!! Post some pictures!

I've owned both 05 and 06 leathers and on certain colors I actually like as much or even prefer the 06, esp, on the ink and rouge vif. I had an 05 sky blue which was beautiful but a bit dry and on the thin side too. I have to say my bordeaux We I used to own had exceptional leather. So, it really varies from each individual bag to the other ... Some 06 Emeralds and rouilles tended to be on the thinner, veinier side but were beautiful nontheless! My fave of all of the years are my 07's--the blacks and the plombs and even violets... I think i like the chewy distressed smooshies as opposed to the silky evenly distressed smooths. LOL! My point i guess is that each bbag is so individual... not every 05 has nice leather either.

The 06 leather is very thick in my experience, it's just less distressed than the 04s and 03s I've seen. It is a matter of preference, I know I like the thinner leather because I like the beaten up look! ;)

I really think leather varies from bag to bag. Although 06 gets a bad rap, there are some amazing 06's out there! I have one black 06, and it's definitely the smoothest of all my leathers, but it's also very silky and soft. I have several 05 bags, and the leather is lovely to be sure, as they're very soft and silky, but I also find them more delicate and thinner (though not thin, but some of them are a bit thinner than my 06). By far, my 07s have the thickest leather and lovely wrinkles (but no veins) which I love! I'd say the only type of leather I don't like is stiff plastic-like leather, or dry leather with white-veins. And that type of leather can show up in any year, IMO. So enjoy your cognac- it's really a gorgeous color! Can't wait to see pics!
