not sure if anyone in this thread can advise, but i am trying to decide between keeping a pre-owned (very broken in, roughed up corners, etc) black city 2006 chèvre or going with a new 2012 instead. which should i go with?
..and does anyone know what the differences are, if any, between the pre 2007 and post 2007 bags? is it just the change in leather, or are there style differences as well?
Thank you!!

I haven't had the chance to buy a 2007 bag since I became an addict in 2011. However, from what I've heard and seen in these couple of years the older the better. I would keep my oldie. 2012 was not a good year IMO. 2011 was great but having bags from both years I would say that last year's bags have a better leather even if both are agneu. Keep your chevre by all means.

Now that I have one City (sandstone from '07) I would really love to get another in black. There are two I'm looking at right now--one a 2005 and one a 2010. From what I've read here, it seems like maybe I should get the 2005 due to leather quality. What do people think? The '05 is a higher price (at least for now), but not by too much.

Hi there everyone!
I am new to this thread. Has anyone of you bought or have the holiday collection 2013? The ones with the pearly aspect color pink? Theyre so lovely that I want to know about the leather and maintenance of these bags. Do they look similar to metallic leathers? Any ideas? :-))

Thanks:-)

I've mentioned this elsewhere in tpf, hate to harp on about it, but I just bought a 2010 Sang Red Velo, it was only my 2nd Bbag purchase (the first one was a 2005 rouge theatre shoulder, at least that's what it looks like to me, it's a gorgeous glossy berry red, so I wanted a bigger bag in similar colour). The Velo's leather & colour looked fine in the pics, not perfect, but nice, and I researched other Sang Reds on tpf, all looked OK. When it arrived I didn't like it at all - the red has faded to an unattractive pinky colour, the leather is quite dry (I put leather conditioner on it and it drank it right up); it's also stretched a lot and is quite thin on the front and back, not soft, thick, wrinkly & smooshy like I expected from a 2 year old gently used Balenciaga bag - it's just sort of floppy, and not in a good way. Other red Bbags I've looked at here all look fine to me, and the older bags still seem to have their smooshiness, and shape, so I would never buy that year again. Was I just unlucky with this bag...or is this a common problem for that year/colour?

I have an opportunity buy a near mint classic city Balenciaga black with shiny gold hardware but from year 2004.....summer. wow, so old......but leather may be superior? what are your thoughts? this would be my first Balenciaga......
