i'm new to bbags! got these 2 fw09 babies recently & i'm loving them.

the leather on the black gch has broken in a little. but it's quite veiny, don't you think? any comments on this? it is lmb conditioned but i'm thinking of trying shoe polish!

Welcome! Please don't put shoe polish on your beautiful bag. There are threads here about how to condition to minimize "dry," leather. I would guess shoe polish is a very last resort.

Am sorry if I am unsure where to place my question but I was just wondering why is my '09 mandarin Bbag have softer leather than the '09 Framboise? Please take a look at the pictures... Thanks!

Hi,

these bal bag looked gorgeous!!I really love Bal bag and intended to purchase my very first one real soon.

Last weekend, I went to my local mall (Singapore) but the leather seems very distressed, with a lot of veins, thin/"cracky" and very filmsy. I was rather disappointed.

I thought bal is well known for the soft and "buttery feel" for its leather. really desire the "buttery" feel one. I was planning to get a Giant City Bag.


can i know more about the texture of the leather of Bal bag? is the texture similar for different colours or collections?
Really need advice to get my first bal bag..appreciate all the help that i can get

Hi, welcome to Balenciaga! :flowers: I've merged your thread with an existing one discussing leather. If you search for "leather" in the Reference Library, you'll find other similar threads. Overall, Bbag leather tends to vary from bag to bag -- even among ones of the same color or from the same season. If you browse through some of the pictures-only threads, you'll see there's an immense amount of variation when it comes to leather. You might have to order overseas or buy online, but I'm sure you'll find the leather you're looking for sooner or later!

^I guess the leather for 07 was the thickest ever! I can safely say so cos my VF Work was cut up (long story, still saddens my heart when I see my ruined bag) and I could see how thick the leather is! If you compare, the later seasons really pales in comparison.

i've just spent the past few hours reading this very informative thread... it definitely seems like older leather up to 2005 was the leading favorite, and then 2007 came back...

but there doesn't seem to be much information on the newer year bags? what are everyone's thoughts on 2008, 2009, and 2010??? (other than it being agneau versus chevre)... good quality? better, worse?

I have to vote for 07 as well. I've only got one 05 which is gorgeous, but all my 07's are just so thick and wrinkly, I would go for an 07 over other years if I had the choice.

I just bought 2 day bags from Barney's--sorry I don't know the year (I'm assuming they're 2010?)--one is a basic medium blue and one is a deep green that's beautiful. But the leathers seem really dull and dry compared to my previous years' bags. Has anyone had this problem with current b-bags?

Update: I believe I bought Pommier and Cyclade. The pommier is a deeper, grass green than in the picture. It's gorgeous.

how are 2011's / 2012's leathers fairing against previous years? I'm looking to get a Velo but have been out the Bbag game for a few years and keen to know what the leather is currently like?
