Powder~! I was just holding a couple of really thick f/w 07's (black and steele) and they are definitely not as super lightweight as the 05 spongier leathers. IMO, the thick f/w 07's are much thicker than the '05's and have a bit more weight to them too (compared to the 06's as well)...though not as heavy as Giant hardware or other brand bags.

Maggien - congrats girl! The tomato leather is all over the board. I saw a tomato GH hobo at NM last week and it had outrageous leather. Sounds just like yours, very thick, no veins, no shine. I LOVED it. But the three tomato days with traditional hardware had very shiny and veiny leather. I was sooooooo disappointed as the red is the red I have been dreaming of (since I missed 04 red)
So while I have hopes of finding a perfect tomato day, confidence is not high

I'm comparing my RT city with my new black city right now and the 07 is slightly heavier but not by much. I don't think you would notice the difference when you're carrying it.
Sorry for the delay PP: I was out of town. I would call this leather thick, chewy and heavier than in past, but not HEAVY. You notice a change in weight, but not in a BIG way. The leather on my '04 City is thin/thick and smooshy. This is thick/thick and chewy. I want to grab with my full hand and maul it...not keep pinching the leather between my fingers as I do with the 'o4 City. Doe that make ANY sense at all???!!!

I wish you were closer...I desperately need someone to see this bag. It's so totally veinless and smooth it's bugging the hell out of me. It's still in the box. I keep pulling it out and stuffing it back in. I think I'm disappointed in how FLAWLESS the leather is, but don't really want to admit it. I like veins and crinkles...think just about any Blue Glacier...this is just...so...plain. (A dark, dark evil part of me keeps pushing back the thought, "no character"...) I'm so sick. I don't angst like this over new car purchases...

I think I would have been a lot more fond of it "out of the box" if it had ANY crinkles, wrinkles or veins. This is just a sea of unrelieved perfect leather. Great if you like the smooth look...PERFECT if you like the smooth look, but damnit Janet, I want it to look 10 years old IMMEDIATELY. I'm not sure this bag is going to look much different in five years....
I just got my cinnamon day (at work, so I haven't had time to take some good pics yet!) My jaw dropped when I opened the bag with my day in it - in fact - when I felt my day through the bag I could tell I was in for a treat! The leather is sooooo thick - marshmallowy thick! And it's heavier than my other bags! (my cities) I am NOT complaining at all about the heavier at all - I am so in love with this bag's leather - I wish all my bags had it! The leather is just sinful!!!

Maggie, I'm the same way. I like my bags with lots of wrinkles. I'm not a fan of the white marbling but I LOVE crinkles, creases and wrinkles. That's why I'm so drawn to these bags. Maybe you should keep searching for the perfect tomato for you. A different batch may have more distressing.
