Maggie, I'm the same way. I like my bags with lots of wrinkles. I'm not a fan of the white marbling but I LOVE crinkles, creases and wrinkles. That's why I'm so drawn to these bags. Maybe you should keep searching for the perfect tomato for you. A different batch may have more distressing.

You know, Cracker...you are 100% right. I just dread the thought of returning this one to NM...it takes FOREVER to get the refund (duties, etc.) from Canada Customs. I'm still awaiting a refund of $260.00 from a return in April!! And I'm into Canada Customs for $316.00 on this one. But, of course, that doesn't justify keeping this baby if I'm not thrilled. I need a day or two to try to force the love!!

I see what you mean........that does make it a real pain the you know what. You almost need to buy through an SA that would send you pics or really knows your style.

Any veins/crinkles, etc.?????????

No marble no veins, wrinkles and crinkles and distressing yes, it's beautiful! I just tried to take a pic here in my office, but they look horrible, too much flourescent lighting. I will take some pics tonight after work - it is a GORGEOUS BAG! I had to thank Erica for sending me such a treasure!! :tender:

'05 is the year known for the really great leather it produced, can anyone say that the '07s are just as good or even better? which year, since '01 in your opinion produced the best leather so far? ;-)

I can speak only to the 07 Anthracite bags. I had an 05 Twiggy in my possession, with really great thick chewy leather, but the color was wrong. The 05 Caramel leather and the 05 Black are thicker and, to me, more matte and not veiny. I happen to love my 07 Anthracite more - it's not quite as thick (but thick, not thin like my 06 Camel), it drapes and is so smooshy (I have an 06 Emerald Day that's the same way and I like the texture and sparkle that come with more veininess.

Personal preferences, I guess - I think I want both eventually, but am focusing on 07 (and 08) leathers, it's nice to be able to buy retail and exchange a bag if you don't like it (I don't live very close to any Balenciaga stores, so sometimes it's sight unseen buying).

But I think the 07 is strong, supple, almost-as-thick-as 05 and I love it.

My favorites are: 02, 03, and 04.

02 leather is very lightweight/thin, silky smooth and buttery soft to touch, but for some reason, extremely sturdy and tough.

03 leather is thicker with some distressing, but really soft and fluffy. Succulent and chewy. 03 leather is the best leather for me. I can just keep touching it forever.....

04 leather is a bit thinner than 03 leather, but softer with little to no distressing. Very smooth and soft leather. I love 04 leather, but the only down side to this is that because it's so smooth and soft, it's more fragile. It gets scratches easier than other leather as well.(this is almost like lamb skin. It's like how super soft lamb skin is prone to scratches)

I haven't touched FW07 leather yet, but I have some SS07 bags. Still, older leather is better in my book;)

Hi all! Please forgive me if this has already been discussed, I looked but did not find a thread.

I sold my 06 black city a while ago and am regretting it. I do remember the reason I sold it is because I wasn't wild about the leather. Is the 07 leather thicker and smooshier? More like 05? Does S/S or F/W leather 07 leather appear to be thicker? I am going to call Daphne and ask but thought I would try here first, since BalNY is closed now.

My Greige city has the best, thickest leather. I really got lucky w/that bag and hope to do the same w/my new black city.

TIA!
