I am a college student, currently in my 6th year finishing my bachelor's degree (it took me a little longer lol). I pay for all my bags myself. My friends and family do think I am crazy for it though! I live with my parents, but pay for everything besides cell phone and car insurance on my own. I have 2 part time jobs that help me!

Last year for Christmas I got my first MBMJ and it has all been down hill from there :)
I mostly buy my bags when I find them on sale either online or at the store, I am pretty thrifty!

My current collection consists of:
MBMJ Totally Turnlock "Benny" satchel, black with gold hardware (Christmas gift last year. This was my first "designer" bag, I paid for half)
MBMJ Classic Q - Groovee satchel, electric violet with silver hardware (bought myself, on sale at Nordstrom Rack for $199!)
MBMJ Totally Turnlock Zip Clutch, I think the color is called ink with gold hardware (bought myself on sale for $129)
MBMJ Totally Turnlock Zip around wallet, black with gold hardware (bought myself on sale for $100)
MBMJ Pretty Little Nylon large patterned "Tate Tote" (bought myself, on sale for around $130 I think)
Coach Large Brooke Hobo, black with silver hardware (bought myself, on sale for $190 at the outlet by my house)
Coach Poppy wristlet (bought myself)
Marc Jacobs "Cammie" crossbody in orange with gold hardware (bought myself, found on sale at Nordstrom Rack for $175!! I was super excited about this find. :) )
Botkier Prince satchel, black with nickel hardware (bought for myself, again it was on sale at Nordstrom for $280. This is the newest bag to my collection, I am in love, such beautiful leather!)

I do plan on getting a good job after graduation in the health field to finance my future bag purchases, because my wish list is pretty big!

I am a sophmore in college and am lucky to have extremely generous parents.
I have:
speedy 30 (graduation from HS present)
neverfull GM
small prada crossbody (8th grade graduation...and still use it to this day!)
be&d hobo
black cole haan (nice, good quality, understated bag)
I also have a few coach items but those are for school, nto really a big coach fan
several pairs of chanel and dior sunnies

not a big collection but I like it and want moreee!!

I'm in my latter years of university and I work part time. I pay for all of my bags on my own so I only have a few bags; I got some Gucci, MBMJ, Coach, MK, Vivienne Westwood, Tokidoki & Juicy. You can view them by clicking the link in my signature. The bags are not only on the first page, they're throughout the thread since I have new additions since I started the thread.

I wouldn't really call my supply of bags a "collection" because it is rather small- but it sure is well-loved! I definitely pay for ALL my bags because my parents would balk at spending more than $70 on a bag and my boyfriend rolls his eyes and tries to escort me out of the store whenever I so much as look at a bag
I'm currently a second-year in university and I work my butt off at a part-time soul-draining job. I am saving up for a $1000+ bag right now. It's difficult but it will be worth it!

I am a senior in college and I think I spend more time shopping than studying...(it's a secret, lol)I am an unabashed shopaholic, a shoe whore and a bag whore:shame:

I have:
3 Louis Vuitton (stephen sprouse rose neverfull, sunset boulevard vernis clutch, and multicolor speedy)
1 Chloe Marcie
1 Jimmy Choo Ramona
1 Lady Dior
1 MJ classic carla
1 Prada
1 BV
1 Burberry check tote
1 Rebecca Minkoff MAC
3 Kate Spade
5 Coach (no longer wear them)
Multiple pairs of Louboutins, Dolce&Gabbana, Kate Spade, Tory Burch, DVF, Badgley Mischka, etc.
Several pairs of Dior and MJ sunnies.

Not an impressive collection but I definitely want to add more. Right now I am lusting after a Lanvin Happy bag and some Miu Miu shoes.

I'm totally the same way! I totally need to get off the online stories and get to the library. I'm definitely keep it on the down-low from my fellow students and my parents :graucho:

I'm in my 4th and final year of undergrad. I don't really have a collection (just a couple of bags that I just bought- MbMJ groovee in Hickory and a MK Hamilton in Black with ghw) but I am a MAJOR procrastinator...online shopping/browsing is where it's at! I love scouring for deals on things I can't find at home.

I had a major addiction to makeup the past year or two and now its scarves & bags! I am planning not to go crazy with the bags...a bit too pricey for me at the moment. You lot definitely aren't helping at all! :faint:

lol mine's the opposite, I've calmed down a little with the bags and switched to buying make up :p I love both but I've just been in a make up mood lately lol

I'm currently working on my 2nd Associates degree (at FIT, I have to get an Associates before I can move onto a Bachelors program), so this is really my 6th year of college. I've been collecting since I was 15, before I had a job my mom bought me my bags, majority of which were Coach, all from the outlet. Once I started working, I bought most of my bags, with the exception of a few that were Christmas/birthday gifts from my family (like this year, I asked for a Juicy Couture bag with bows on it for Christmas/birthday). I am still living at home and trying to find a job, school is paid for with a loan, and I do not take from my loan to purchase anything, anything extra goes toward food, and transportation costs. All of my bags were purchased at outlet stores, on sale, or at sample sales. The only things I paid close to retail price were my Tokidoki bags, I was crazy about them. My mom and my cousin best understand my addiction, its genetic on both sides of the family, lol.

I have:
Too many Coach bags to count, all leather bags. I know I definitely have a rose Ergo hobo, cerulean Hamptons satchel, Hamptons Weekender that I got in high school, suede crossbody bag, plaid tote, and looooooots more.

Marc by Marc Jacobs: Amore cotton tote, hot pink Commuter case for my Macbook, Jelly Jacquard Dr. Q Hiller hobo and matching wallet (birthday gift), cotton tote from special items collection

Tokidoki (purchased 2008-2009): Spiagga Campeggio, Inferno and Pirata (gift) Zuccas, Original print Bella Bella, Foresta Bella, L'Amore and Transporto Buon Viaggos, Concerta hobo

Juicy Couture: Plaid Daydreamer, Black leather satchel

L.A.M.B. (almost all purchased at the twice yearly NYC sample sale): Black leather Music hobo (gift, purchased at Neiman Marcus Last Call), Bullseye and Shadow Westfield totes, Chain Plaid Hopewell satchel, Mandalay sample bag, White Leopard Commodore hobo and wallet, Ditsy Graffiti barrel satchel and wallet, Cheetah Rowington, Fuschia Hobo, Black leather Love Asti hobo, Midnight blue Vane Satchel, Plaid Maria Messenger and wallet, Pink/grey leopard Melbourne, sample nylon leopard hobo/backpack, Silver wallet

Yeah, I disagree with this as well. I'm currently at uni but took some time off my course to get some work full-time. I have... eight LVs, five Bals and a BV and paid for them all myself with my own money. Nobody else funds my addiction and I don't expect anyone else to, seeing as I don't share 'em! :D

Started collecting higher-end bags just over a year ago and how the collection has grown and my savings account has shrunk... I plan on selling a few to get myself down to a better number and then I'm done for now, though I know myself well enough to say I'll never be done. There will always be money set-aside from work for bag purchases, I think.

agreed. Those of us in university work in the summer, or find co-op jobs. Some of which pay very generously. I personally do not pay for school, so any income I make is discretionary.

I'm 21 and in my second year of college in London (doing a BA in International Business and Italian with a major in Finance) I don't have a crazy collection but I have a few designer bags that I love:

Gerard Darel 24h Saint Germain ==> gift from my parents when I got my French Baccalauréat
Mulberry Bayswater ==> originally belonged to my mom but she gave it to me because it's not practical enough for her way of life
Chanel 2.55 ==> summer jobs / internships and pocket money
Balenciaga Work ==> my money
Marc Jacobs Lacquered Stam ==> mostly my own money but with a bit of help from my mom
Lady Dior zipped pouch ==> gift from my parents

I also have a few accessories that are mostly birthday gifts from my parents (1 Dior wallet, 1 agenda etc...)

I can afford nice bags once in a while (around 3 per year) thanks to summer internships and the fact that my parents pay for my college fees, food and rent. I also sell what I don't use anymore so I can buy other nice bags.

At the moment I'm saving for another bag for school and work (I generally use my Balenciaga for uni and my Bayswater for work), maybe a Dior Panaréa but I'll have to wait until I get the money from my summer internship.

And to reply to the last part of your question, I do hope I'll be able to get a job that will help me finance nice stuff, that's part of the reason why I chose to major in Finance (but not the only one!)

Where are these fabulous boyfriends that love to gift designer bags?!?!?! I want one!

OK SO UPDATE!!!
For my birthday, my Boyfriend bought me a gorgeous Rebecca Minkoff Purple Haze Morning After Mini (MAM) that I call Phieona, and I adore her!!! I've been wearing Phi Phi everyday since I received her two weeks ago.

So now I know...those sweet guys who buy their girlfriends awesome pocketbooks are REAL!!!

Plus, I treated myself to a few new RM's, another treesje, and two botkiers since I last posted. I've stopped spending my rent money on bags, so I have not bought anything as of late, and won't either!!!

:ban: Crossing my fingers, but wishing I don't quit my ban!!! I'll just continue my ridiculous online shopping/stalking of everything I want, but can't afford and don't need. Time to try to be bag-content now!
