College students: what's in your collection?

I feel the same about quality vs quantity. I've sold a lot of my old bags that I posted in this same thread. Trying to replace some with real leather options when I can afford it to have a long term collection with timeless pieces rather than a bunch of fast fashion pieces.

For the students with premiere bags: do you guys carry them to school everyday? I have two LV's and im afraid to carry them to school due to fear of criticism. I know it sounds silly lol. I go to a community college and so far ive seen 2 girls carry LV. One girl carries a LV neverful and a speedy 30 both in DE and the other girl was carrying a vintage LV bag that had really dark gold patina. The girl who carries the neverfull and the speedy had class with me, I thought she was very brave and bold (in a good way) to carry her LV's to class everyday.

I attend a fashion school in NYC so a good amount of girls wear premier designers. I've even seen a guy carry a birkin. I wear my Céline cabas tote most days but other days I'll have a Herschel backback. Depends on my mood/weather/class schedule for the day.

I now (in graduate school) try to avoid flashy monograms (LV, Gucci etc.) as a personal taste preference, and prefer the more understated brands (really into Lanvin and Givenchy). Nevertheless I used a Burberry tote with the very recognizable Nova Check pattern all throughout college and never felt strange about it. It was a large school and one could spot Chanel as well as $10 plastic bags! I think you should be fine wearing whatever you like, and if others judge you by that it's their problem - it's them being superficial!

For me now it's a question of discipline: resisting to buy cute looking fashion bags (MK, etc.), and saving my money for some worthy pre-owned pieces! ....And also constantly scrolling through eBay to find a good deal!

Thank you. The last part is very true!

This is one of the reasons I chose my Goyard St. Louis over the LV Neverfull, since people tend to not know the brand. I carry it every day just cuz it's so useful and it makes me happy having it on my shoulder. I can see why you're hesitant because even as a lover of designer bags, I'm total a hypocrite and will still raise an eyebrow when I see someone carry a monogram Neverfull to class lol. That being said, if you carry a designer bag that means you love it, and of course it will draw attention sometimes so own it!

I used to raise my brows too but so far I've seen 3 other girls carrying lv, 3 out of 2 was monogram. Ive been carrying my pm to class for about a week now and I love it. I feel a lot more comfortable now. I guest it's just that first plunge of carrying it [emoji5]️

*So, COLLEGE STUDENTS (or high school!): what do you have in your bag collection and how do you pay for it? Do you have a part-time job? Do your parents help you out? How many bags per year do you buy and when did you start collecting? Do you plan on getting a job post-grad that will help finance your addiction?*

This is such a fun thread and quite interesting to be honest. I've always been working but my downfall is definitely shoes not so much bags. I'm 19 and a junior in college.(Econ major) my end goal is Corporate Law. I have an LV and a Céline Micro. Both I bought with my own money. For a while I carried a full time job while also going to school Full time. Luckily I found another job that pays better and I was able to cut down on my hours. I don't have a specific number of "bags per year" but I'm also very selective with what bags I spend money on. I think it's totally possible at any age to own any bag you want if you work hard enough.

I'm a senior in high school, but I'll be starting college in the fall so I thought I'd jump in :)

My collection:
Assorted Kate Spade, Longchamp, Coach (all gifts)
Bally black quilted bag (vintage from my mom)
MbMJ Petal to the Metal fuchsia flap pouchette (gift)
LV GM Chantilly (gift from parents, this was my first brand new "major" designer bag)
Gucci red Soho leather disco bag (parents)
Saint Laurent black classic duffle 6 (parents)
Chanel micro mini flap bag (bought myself)
MJ blue shoulder bag (can't remember the name; bought myself)

I'm super grateful to have had most of my bags gifted to me, but I've been buying my own accessories and shoes with money from a part-time job, so hopefully I'm on my way to self-sufficiency :)
