College students: what's in your collection?

i'm a senior in college and my collection consists of chanel (my major weakness), LV, prada, fendi, mbmj, coach, juicy (from way back but i still use some of them), d&b (from when i was in hs), kate spade, and a bunch of no-name bags. i'm still eyeing BV and H, but i actually haven't felt the urge to buy more bags lately. for awhile, i was getting a purse maybe every 2 months or so.

for the most part, i don't go to school with many people who have high end bags, and the people who do have maybe a speedy or a neverfull, and i guess they paid for them themselves since almost every college student i know works part time.

my priority is finding an enjoyable job that i'm passionate about- not just any job that will finance my love of bags. i don't need to buy bags and would rather make that sacrifice than to sacrifice my happiness by working a job that i'd hate. i'm lucky that my parents pay for everything, and my SO doesn't think i'm crazy for loving bags (he actually likes to pick bags out with me).

I am not in college anymore but when I was I saved up for a miu miu bag wich I still own and love.
i do have to say, when i was in college it was easy for me, I lived at home and my parents paid my tuition.
i had a saturday job and spend money like water.

Now I have a full time job and things are not that easy! I have to pay rent, insureance student loans (yikes) and saving up for holliday, but still every other little bit I can spare goes to my handbag piggy bank!

I have a ton of Longchamp bags because they are very versatile for me. I have some Coach bags for use when I don't go to school. I don't have a job because it is difficult to work and keep up with my studies especially since I am a full time student in a competitive school so my studies mean more to me than work as of now. I do save up my money from scholarships and financial aid and whatever money my family gives me for college and I sometimes use it for handbags or things to buy. My parents though usually the handbags and I am fortunate for that.

As for a post-grad job, I am planning to go into grad school for physical therapy because my major right now does have a lot of pros involved but it will not give me happiness in my life. I'd rather wait and stick with the career I want and then celebrate with handbags and other stuff I want lol

My most expensive bags are my Gucci Boston and Givenchy I've been saving for a Marc Jacobs bag this month. I'm a senior in college (21 yrs old) and I work a full time job as a helicopter dispatcher so yes, I have extra money! I also do lots of freelance writing for extra cash. In addition to my Gucci and Givenchy I have Coach, Dooney & Bourke, Badgley, and Badgley Mischka. Lots of girls at school have FAKE bags but they will swear they're real. I'm like Gucci is a double G not triple! Hope this helps, and btw I don't find your question offensive at all. I totally understand you inquisitiveness!

I am a full time student and I work a part time job and I pay for all of my bags. I live at home, have my car and all other bills paid for, so am fortunate to be able to spend my hard earned money on the things I want (which mostly include bags!) My collection consists of:
Fendi Baby Spy
Jimmy Choo Patent Ramona w/ Studs
Miu Miu bag (not sure what its called)
Louis Vuitton Mahina L, Artsy MM, Antheia PM, Speedy 35, Neverfull GM, and an Alma PM

I also have quite a few designer SLG's and some Hermes enamels that I purchased within the last year.

What do you have in your bag collection and how do you pay for it?
Currently I have (focusing on just bags): Mulberry Alexa & Mitzy Tote, Proenza Schouler PS1, Louis Vuitton Mono-bequia PDV, Renzo, Tadao & Miroir Sac Plat, two Alexander Wang Rocco's.

Some of the above items were gifts, others were paid for by me when I was working. I think one or two I managed to get on sale for a really good price too whilst others I've sold other bags in my collection to put the funds towards new purchases.

Do you have a part-time job? Do your parents help you out?

I used to work in luxury retail so the job paid well as well as perks however it's now my final year so I've quit to focus on my degree. My parents may gift me a bag on occasions such as my birthday, Christmas etc.

How many bags per year do you buy and when did you start collecting?

I don't set myself a number of bags for the year, I focus more on practicality, price and trend. I am always lusting for something so for me, it's irrelevant how many bags I have but whether I truly love the bags in my collection, if not they go and help fund new purchases. I started collecting bags when I was 16, I am now 21.

Do you plan on getting a job post-grad that will help finance your addiction?

I aim to work within the Fashion industry so it'll soon be about networking and maintaining contacts to help fund my bag addiction! Although yes, I do aim to have a great job that'll help me fund the purchases I want.

I've been brutally honest in all my answers so I'm sure I may seem like a spoilt brat because my parents are generous in regards to finances however I definitely take care with all my items. I've worked since I was 13 so I know the value of money more so since the past couple of summers I've done 50-60 hour weeks. Alongside all of this, I don't believe in judging how anyone gets their items as some of us may choose to have less luxuries in other areas of our lives etc.

Hope this gave you a clear insight into how I'm able to upkeep and maintain my lifestyle!

I am currently 20 years old, and still in college. :)

What do you have in your bag collection and how do you pay for it?

2008
American Eagle Tote ($14.95)

2009
Bella Bag ($175)
Disney Matterhorn Bag ($55.95)
Linea Pelle Croco wallet ($125)

2010
Totoro wallet
Bella Borsa Italian bag
Sak Silverlake Satchel ($189.05)

I paid for everything with my own money except for the last three on the list.

Do you have a part-time job?

Yes, in addition to being a full-time student, I have a part-time job babysitting and private teaching. Both pay well enough so I can save for bags and prepare to pay off my tuition when I leave school.

Do your parents help you out?

I wouldn't expect my mom or family members to purchase me a high-end designer bag, and I feel $200 is a stretch for them.

How many bags per year do you buy and when did you start collecting?

I attempt to go for 1-2 bags because I'd rather put my money in savings. I wouldn't say that I've really started collecting yet. I love money too much, lol!

Do you plan on getting a job post-grad that will help finance your addiction?

Definitely! I plan to have a good salary. :) I would need one to have an awesome collection!

What do you have in your bag collection and how do you pay for it?

I just started getting into designer bags about a year ago. Currently have three Coach bags (two Alex totes of different material, one crossbody), LV Speedy 30, and Longchamp Le Pilage for school. I have a lot of Coach accessories 'cause I've been getting obsessed about keyfobs, scarves, and wristlets lately.

I paid for everything myself except for the LV Speedy 30. I originally was going to buy the Speedy 30 as a B-Day present to myself, but I had brought my mom with me for a girl's day out. My mom ended up surprising me by paying for my bag when I went to the counter to pay.

Do you have a part-time job?

Yes.

Do your parents help you out?

Aside from the above B-Day story, no. TBH, they were worried that I was getting too obsessed with handbags.

How many bags per year do you buy and when did you start collecting?

Started collecting exactly a year ago. It seems like I've been buying about 5 bags a year, but I notice myself slowing down. There are a lot of bags that I do want, but I really can't see myself wearing them most of the time because they are much too flashy. And me being in school, all I've been using is the Longchamp because I don't have to take care of it.

Do you plan on getting a job post-grad that will help finance your addiction?

I plan on getting a job, but not necessarily to buy bags. I try my best not to be impulsive about my purchases. There are so many bags that I want, but I don't feel as though I could possibly use all of them even if I could afford it. Even with my Speedy, it was sitting in my closet for 3 months 'cause I couldn't use it at all while I had school. I'm still struggling trying to get myself to pay over $1000 on any handbag when I try to imagine myself using that money to go traveling instead.

Maybe when I do make more money, this won't be such a dilemma for me. :p

I am a student at the university and i buy most things are by myself, including bags, clothes, shoes. . I remember I bought a leather bag, use more than 3 years. But already impossible, is now a little reluctant to think of it. I now practice in a company, I feel life is very full, buy a new bag.

My collection consists of Juicy Couture, Longchamp, and some vintage leather bags (as well as misc items by Versace, Ray-Ban, and Rebecca Minkoff). I had some Betsey Johnson bags but I gave them away to my younger sister. I payed for most of my bags/wallets when I was working, but some are also gifts. My parents don't help me out though sometimes they give me some moola and I put it towards my stuff. I wouldn't say I collect, I just buy whenever I feel it's been a while though since I've been getting vintage bags for free lately. I plan on getting a job though to get a new one (just one), but when I hit jackpot career wise I only want a chanel classic flap. I will wear that thing everyday! Right now I've been wearing the same fringe bag for months, once I find a holy grail I stick to it. I don't have the budget for a crazy expensive bag so I try to stay within my range, anything above $300 is out of reach. I like to scour sales for marked down designer items.

I am from NYC and live in a very artsy area with my boyfriend now, there is a college in the area. Most of the students over here don't care about designer items, they tote their little eco bags and shop at flea markets. Ya know the indie rocker types, which is pretty cool I do the same, but I also like the finer things. I like to mix both up that's pretty much my style.

I am 20 yrs old and i am a junior in college, i live in my own apartment, pay my own bills/tuition, and purchased/own my own SUV.

What do you have in your bag collection and how do you pay for it?
Chanel Large shopping bag
Balenciaga first
Balenciaga city (arriving this week!)
LouisVuitton papillon 30
lots of random Coach pieces (6 total)
Dooney & Bourke bucket bag
Prada Crocodile Veins top handle

I paid for everything except my city and one of my larger coach totes (both gifts from my fiance). Also, my Prada bag was given to me by my grandmother after she grew tired of it. Otherwise... all was purchased my myself through 2005-now.

Do you have a part-time job?
I have 2 part-time jobs!

Do your parents help you out?
I wish.

How many bags per year do you buy and when did you start collecting?
I usually purchase one or two "investment piece" designer bags a year, and I enjoy buying little trendy Coach things that are just to toss around at school or whatever. Betsy Johnson is also i fun brand to treat myself every once in a while.

Do you plan on getting a job post-grad that will help finance your addiction?
Not so much... I will be moving to Peru in a few years (my fiance owns a beach home there) and I will teach english and spanish classes at a private school. It isn't too safe to always carry purses there :hrmm: , so I am trying to enjoy my time here in the States before my bags are just for me to appreciate on special occaisons or when travelling internationally/back to USA. I will most likely only use my Balenciaga bags in Peru because they aren't too showy.

I am currently lusting for a Michael Kors bag of some variety and a Marc Jacobs leather stam... though I don't know when I would ever use them much because I am too in love with Balenciaga!

I am a freshman in college and my parents have bought most of bags but two I received from a family friend and my boyfriend

Dooney and Burke mini bowler bag multi (my first "designer purse" from when I was about 11)
Burberry medium check bag (i got this for my bat mitzvah from money I received from friends and family)
MBMJ slouchy hobo (birthday present)
MBMJ Bowler Bag (onsale for birthday from parents)
MJ cranberry stam bag (hanukkah present, 10% off b/c display)
Chanel jumbo flat (gift from my grandparents for my parents divorce, came out of my TF)
Mulberry Lilly (present)
MBMJ Nylon tate (graduation present)
LV Neverfull GM (birthday/graduation present from my boyfriend)
Longchamp le plique (given for school)
Leather bag from little shop in italy (present)
Coach zippy wallet (graduation present)
Coming soon: LV speedy 35 (hanukkah)

I also have a varied collection of coach and marc jacobs wristlets and Juicy and Tory Burch cosmetic cases.

I have been very blessed that my parents have been so fortunate. I haven't bought myself a bag yet, although I did work three jobs my senior year and am currently working a part time job. Most of the money I make goes to shoes and clothes. I am also a total jewelry fanatic (I'm way to friendly with the staff at tiffany's). I go to a school that has a lot of wealth and most of the girls have gotten their purses from their parents, even if their also working a job.

im on my second semester of sophomore year.

Balenciaga Ink City - half gift, half my money
Balenciaga Electric Blue Day - Graduation gift
Balenciaga Sapphire Money wallet - 17th Birthday gift
Chanel Card Case- 18th birthday gift
MBMJ Nylon pretty tate tote - "taking summer semester" compensation
Marco Tagliaferri Bag - all my money.

I'm lucky to have a mother that appreciates bags, and understands my addiction. My boyfriend almost got my a neverfull for graduation, but I decided on a pug puppy instead..lol! Next up is a Chanel Jumbo or GST once I can land a job. I just wasted a month wrapped up in Apple interviews, just to end up not getting the position. So we'll see if my collection grows at all in 2011!

I have downsized my collection A LOT in the last few months. I have been trying to make some extra money to help pay for things in our new house.

Here's my collection after much downsizing!

1. Louis Vuitton Horizontal Lockit
2. Louis Vuitton French Wallet (Pink)
3. Louis Vuitton Damier Pochette Accessoires
4. Louis Vuitton Wapity
5. 4 Coach Wristlets -- Black Leather, Pink Leather, Multi-Colored Striped, Khaki/Gold
6. Longchamp Le Pliage Large Tote

I think that's about it! Or at least that's what I can remember for now.
