Great thread! As for me, I own gucci, louis vuitton, alexander wang, marc jacobs, juicy etc.. And basically all of them Ive bought them on my own but they are bought with my parents money. As money that ive saved or extra money. There are some that have been gifts.

I go to school full time, work part time, and I still live at home. I would move out, but I am not allowed. I pay for all of my expenses (Except my tuition and cellphone) thats the reason why I can stretch my $$. I have priorities, most of my money goes to my savings account. My collection includes MBMJ's, LV's,Coach,Bottega,Juicy,MCM,Longchamp. Most of my high end bags were purchased while I was in high school with birthday money. My last splurge was a Michele watch. I have recently began to collect shoes, MBMJ,CL,Burberry,Prada Sport,Modern Vintage, Prada. My collection has grown quickly the past couple of years.

I'm 18 and still in high school, and this is my collection:
- Linea Pelle Dylan clutch
- Foley + Corinna Jetsetter Jr. (won on the Purse Blog :D).
- Marc by Marc Jacobs Totally Turnlock zip clutch/wallet
- Another Marc by Marc Jacobs wallet that I don't know the name of.
- MBMJ clutch
- Alexander Wang Rocco mini duffel (love of my life ).
- Louis Vuitton Stephen Sprouse leopard scarf (okay, not a bag).

I work weekends in a clothing store, and I've had a job since I was 13. I've paid for everything myself :)

I don't have that much, a little MBMJ crossbody, Michael Kors satchel, Junior drake bag, and a couple non-branded ones from winners. I'm not working right now so I have to be careful not to buy too much stuff, otherwise Mastercard will own my soul.

I went to college with many well-off students (myself included I suppose) and high-end bags were everywhere, mostly LV, Gucci and Prada. I had a job all through college which helped buy some of my bags, but I also had a few that were gifts from my parents. My mom bought me one of those little nylon cross-body Prada bags before I started college and I thought it was the greatest thing in the world at the time. My father also bought me a very classic black Prada tote which I used pretty much all through college for both work and school. I don't think I had any bags during my undergraduate time that were more than $500.

I'm in graduate school now and have a job and have been lucky to be able to save what I can and buy a few high-end bags per year, including brands like Chanel, Balenciaga and Alexander McQueen. I did take several years off from working and during that time my bag purchases were very few--one a year, maybe two. For me, it has been my personal choice to spend what little extra money I have on bags instead of, I don't know, vacations or a car or stuff for my apartment. Some of my friends and family members don't understand it, but I don't understand some of the things that they spend their money on either. I am very proud of my little collection of bags and I think they are a big part of who I am as a person, and they are all special to me!

I'm in my third year of university and have only just got into Chanel and LV. I earn every cent that I spend on these bags and do feel sorry for the spoilt few that just get given them...they will never appreciate them like I do (oh an I'm totally jealous of them! hehehe)

I'm in college and these are what I have in my collection. I paid for all of them with my part time job in retail. My parents would never buy something so expensive for me. They can't afford to either and they would think it's a ridiculous waste of money. All the Marc Jacobs bags were bought when I had a full time job within 1 year. Nowadays, it's only one or two a year if I can afford it.

Marc Jacobs:
Stam
Ursula Elise
Hudson
Alfred

Chanel:

1 Miu Miu buffalo leather backpack
1 Prada saddle bag in cognac with printed designs
1 Prada brown pitone frame bag

Of this list, though, nothing exceeds $550 except the Prada pitone frame which was $825; I enjoyed buying and selling on the 'bay for extra $$, and looking for great deals!

I don't know if it's just me but I don't think it's fair to say that all people who are given bags won't appreciate them as much as you because you worked for it. I think we're all on here because we all equally appreciate our bags and the people who love them :smile1:

College student here! I've always been a handbag fan and right now my collection is primarily Rebecca Minkoff and Coach both bags and accessories. I've also found myself crushing on Mulberry and right now I have two small bags. I've always wanted a LV since I started getting Vogue in high school and looking at all the gorgeous glossy ads they would have. I still haven't gotten one yet because it is kind of a big investment for the kind of salary that I've made at my retail jobs. I have worked for each and every one of my bags except for the Coach one I was given by my parents when I graduated high school. LV may have to wait a little longer as I haven't been working lately due to school commitments. I haven't gotten a new bag in a few months and I probably won't get one anytime soon. I still have dreams of getting a LV but I don't want a retail job affecting my work just so I can save for a handbag. Plus when I get done with school, hopefully my degree will help me find a good job and I'll be able to afford LV much more easily.

Wow. I am highly impressed with everyone who worked part time during college and saved up their money - great job! I worked part time throughout undergraduate, but most of my money went to clothes and makeup... and electronics. Ah, to be a geek. But yes, if you save save save it is very possible to be able to purchase your own high end bag even if you are just in college. It's all about figuring out what you want and going after it :)
