You probably won't want to use a magic eraser to apply Leather CPR--they are notorious in my house for removing paint if you scrub for more than a few seconds. It's not like a sponge since there are cleaning agents in there that can damage a variety of surfaces. You can just use your fingers to apply the leather CPR since it's basically like a lotion (added bonus: It'll soften your hands too!)

Aaagh!! Tossing the magic eraser right now!! Fingers and microfiber cloth. Thanks so muchfor the help.

I think that's a lot of black coming off so I think you probably do have some sort of polish on the bag. Others may have different opinions though. I have a black bleecker tote that I did a lot of work on that is probably the same leather and I don't recall that much black coming off.

What is a magic ruboff? Is it like the magic eraser? If so it might be a little harsher on the leather than you need.

Anyway if it doesn't look like the black is going to come off on your clothing and the bag is otherwise clean I wouldn't worry about working too hard to get it off. If you get the leather conditioned to your likeing I would let it "settle in" for a bit and then rub it with a dry cloth to see if it is in danger of rubbing off on your clothing. I would probably also try a damp cloth, to see what will happen if you get unexpectedly stuck in the rain.

Yep. Magic eraser. Get the name confused with an actual eraser called magic rub. Tossing the magic eraser and going to use my fingers or a cloth on the next application. Black rock in a few days to finish. Will post an update when it's done.

Thank you so much!

This isn't coach but can anyone tell me if this would be easy to clean? To me it looks like dirt instead of wear. I don't mind if it won't totally come clean as I don't mind the "vintage" look.

I'm not going to sugar coat it--the brown leather bag will not be a simple rehab. You're probably going to need to mix acrylic paint with some leather conditioner (think a small pea sized drop to at least a teaspoon of conditioner.) And make sure the color matches VERY closely and if it doesn't you'll have to mix it with other colors to make it work. Ink is impossible to remove from leather, but it can be covered to some extent with acrylic paint.

Fortunately though the signature bag can probably be cleaned up by spot cleaning with a little mild dish soap on a damp paper towel.

If it was mine I would dunk it first but then I dunk everything!

I agree with the bunny. The corners are scuffed so you will need to touch them up with paint. Get a good conditioner such as Leather Therapy or CPR and finish with Black Rock. At a pinch you could just use Black Rock. Massage it really well into the leather. It will probably darken it but that will help blend in the darker spots.

No guts no glory? A bath and fabric paint? Glitter? Ribbon? Stickers? Or, step away from the bag?
Looking at this for an art supply tote, or boat tote, or a bag rehab stuff holder.

Actually it might clean up well. I'd remove the handles and spray the fabric with stain remover and then wash it. You might even consider chucking it in the washing machine, otherwise just in the sink. Condition the leather trim and handles when nearly dry.

Bummer about the lack of Internet! You have a lot of catching up to do!

I'll be thinking of you and your family on Sunday. Enjoy sharing the memories.

Yeah bummer...my sister and I had to resort to DVD's for entertainmnet...LOL...and I don't have much of a collection. My head was about to explode when we got to "March of the Penguins" but it was actually quite relaxing and enjoyable :)

Thanks for the well-wishes for Sunday...should be an amazing afternoon with family and friends.

Check my post on the AT thread...I gave up the price on my new-to-me Kristin!

It's scary how dependent on technology we've become. Makes you wonder how we coped in the past.

All the best for Sunday.

I have no idea how we ever got along without most of the stuff we now take for granted: internet, cell phones and even air conditioning...my parents' house in Indiana didn't have AC until I went away to college...LOL..gosh, I am getting old :)

Thanks for your thoughts for Sunday...I'll have both my sisters - and hopefully my brother - with me...along with a pub-full of dear and amazing friends!

I don't mind mixing paint and conditioner etc. it doesn't need to be perfect either.
I found a product awhile ago that is guaranteed to remove ink from leather but I can't think of the name.
I have never dunked a leather bag before but that's what I planned to do with this one.
I bought a bottle of leather CPR. I forgot about that stuff.
